Renault engine in these, not very reliable
@KabodaOfficial Жыл бұрын
@@GRACEORT First correction - the claim that it is a Renault engine stems from a false claim on Top Gear (thee beloved ones), it is used by Renault, but not first - it is a Japanese engine that Renault uses and not vice versa. Not only that - using that simple stereotype to spread claims of unreliability is pretty disingenuous. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nissan_VQ_engine Secondly, The VQ37HR is a pretty reliable unit, and upgrade from the 350z VQ35DE and HR respectively. I think it's pretty silly to try and portray these as unreliable when they're one of the most reliable cars in their category. It's like walking around saying the S2000 is unreliable. The VQ engines are known for being very reliable, their main flaw was pre-35HR where they burned oil like nobodies business. The VQ37HR Is the best edition of the engine, and the one to go for. Hope this helps.

@@KabodaOfficial thank you for taking the time to correct and educate me on this matter, I’ve always liked these cars but never bitten the bullet but now I will reconsider that interest. Additionally I will read your comments to a close friend of mine who was instrumental in my way of thinking about this. It will be nice to educate him too because he really does think he knows about these things more than anyone else. Even then when I do he will still be adamant he is right. As for me I believe your explanation so again, thank you

Straight away, the first time you accelerated, I thought that sounded like FAKE engine noise. So I Googled it and yep, confirmed - piped and enhanced engine sounds through the stereo. Like putting stick on timber-grain vinyl wallpaper on your dining room walls and saying "Oooh, now that's rustic".

My son has one and he loves it. Two foibles to be aware of, if the steering lock fails electrically, you can release the steering, but you'll never start the car. Also, if the water pump fails, it's a big job, it's in the engine driven by the timing chain, not bolted to the outside. HTH

I bought mine for my 30th back in April. I absolutely adore it. It’s that analogue, old school feel that does it for me. Having to be gentle, slow and deliberate with everything until she’s properly warmed up, then once the oil temp goes above 90, drop a cog or several and let her go. Mine’s a manual GT. The Synchro rev is fun, though I prefer to heel and toe myself. Demands a lot of the driver but also rewards in equal measure.

I bought a new 2019 370Z 6MT with the sport pkg in Magnetic black and currently have about 44K miles on it. I had some stiffer Hotchkis anti-roll bars and stainless steel brake lines put in and in about a month I'm bringing it down to LA California to have a high performance exhaust system and tuned intake system installed, along with an EcuTek tune on a chassis dyno. We're figuring on getting probably another ~40 hp of peak horsepower and about a 12% gain in torque across the rev range. Future upgrades are planned for reducing the car's weight a modest amount, without butchering the appearance or functionality, and stiffening the chassis in certain places with some aluminum alloy chassis braces. The car is an absolute blast to drive and is eminently practical for me as a daily driver. I have had sports cars in the past: an MGB, an Austin Healy Sprite and a Porsche 944s and this is the best car by far. There have been no reliability or quality issues, with normal maintenance being my only expenses.

I've decided I have a problem with the High Peak Autos channel. You make it impossible to choose what car I really want. I watch a video and think "I love that, I want one!". Then a few days later I watch another video and think "I want that one too!". There are the odd occasions where I don't covet the car you are reviewing, and those are usually the "as part of a lot " sh1tboxes you sometimes get lumbered with. Still, they make good content, if only to remind people why they are not a good buy. But, one thing we have come to expect and appreciate is the honest reviews, openness of what it costs you when you get a car with issues, and the cracking one-liners that you come out with. If I were well off, I'd gift you a Qashqai as a thank you for the content. I know you'd love it! 😂😂😂

Ah, the parts sharing is even more extreme than you might imagine. Needed a rental car for just over a week. 2018 Nissan Sentra SV trim is what I was given. Economical, (genuine) compact sedan. Though far from a Penalty Box on wheels. Loads of tech. But the switches in that 370Z are literally the very same ones. Even more amazing, except for the lack of paddle shifters which the Sentra doesn't have, the steering wheel is the same design too. Just has the Nissan logo on it instead of a large "Z." Had to return the Sentra earlier today. I'll be honest, part of me didn't want to. Amazing fuel economy, and a genuinely peppy engine. It never felt slow. But yeah, Nissan has mastered the Art of Parts Sharing.

Another happy 370Z owner here, manual GT convertible - it’s my daily, and it’s a blast. It’s even big enough to take my suitcase and flight case to/from work - just! It is well worth getting remapped with Ecutek, not for power gains per se, but it does improve the torque curve and you can have variable traction control - as the standard traction control just cuts the fuel totally, and you can get bogged down a little when accelerating out of a corner (not sure if that’s an issue with an auto box). The Ecutek remap allows more slippage before gently reigning things in. I stick winter tyres on a spare set of rims, and despite RWD and the power, it’s quite usable in the snow that we get up here in the North Pennines. The only real disadvantage is the fuel consumption - I find myself deliberately taking longer routes on B roads over the moors, just to enjoy the driving experience - it costs me way more than it should - it’s that good! 😂

So glad you liked it, I bought a 2010 convertible GT and, yes, the tax is £500 per year. 28mpg on super unleaded is expensive too but it's all worth it. Yes the infotainment is rubbish. Mine is manual which is a nice change from my automatic daily driver. The boot is small but it comes with a nice instruction sticker on how to get your golf clubs in. I use it for fun all year round, if it's not raining the roof is off. It's a Nissan so as long as you maintain it nothing really goes wrong...except the roof which refused to go back up. Turned out to be a wiring issue that Nissan fixed so back to normal.

And I would go for the auto too. a few times I have lost at a club meeting due to a miss shift, beaten by manual shifted auto is sad. At hillclimbs we are looking at tenths and hundredths of seconds and balanced on two wheels on a blind off camber corner a paddle shift will always go into the next gear. All race cars now use some type of auto box or sequential box because of this advantage. Thanks for the video Matt, very informative. And the convertible too please.
