The car itself is not the problem. It's the price they think they can charge for it is the problem.

The price hasn’t moved much, I had an ‘11. Yes I wish I still had it. In ‘11 I bought it with the sports package for 36. Still wish I had it and the room to keep it inside. Once you got used to rev match it was fantastic, I don’t understand why they didn’t like it. I did have to get used to it a bit and not fight the computer but it was a fun car in the mountains.

James Wuertele I love the rev match feature. I didn’t think I would because I used to heel toe my old Z4M.part of me feels guilty that I don’t miss the effort. I have a 370z and a B5S4. Two great cars right at the sweet spot of automotive evolution. The B5 is troublesome tho.

@@jackh7550 Just be yourself. Throw in the deadpan humor like its nothing, of course, but you should be more like how YOU would review a car, and less like Mr. Goose himself. Stick to the general format that Mark has established (gotta keep that SavageGeese standard up) but be more natural. Also, during the driving portion, I would maybe cut down on the pauses between collecting thoughts and saying them, use editing to remove them if necessary. I know its not easy to say what you think of a car while driving it, so perhaps drive it off camera once, write the thoughts down, then say them as you drive it a second or third time while filming.

Some input from a Z owner: -No car is perfect from the factory. -Aftermarket can be limited for some cars. For the Z, that is not so and tons of mod parts. You can truly make this thing a beast of a car if you're willing to learn how. -This car even in it's past generation has such enormous potential as a sports car platform from drag to drift to road course racing. -Most people change the wheels and tire combos anyway to eliminate said understeer although oversteer can be a bit violent in this car. Learn your car and you wont have an issue. -This car can be made to be frickin fast and my Z in its current stage handles like a dream. I've driven some exotics and was not impressed in comparison. -The sound can be tuned and changed with quality, keyword quality, exhaust parts. Don't slap cheap parts on this car and expect it to be amazing. -This car was designed with the enthusiast and tuner in mind. Basically, it's a blank canvas for people that like to tweak and modify their cars. There's nothing wrong with keeping it OEM, but you're doing the car injustice. -The Z platform is such a blast to drive on the track once you've made it your own by tuning engine, suspension, etc. to meet your needs for motorsport. I can go on but I'll leave everyone with this to ponder on. Best way to really get a feel for what this car is or what it can become is to go to a Z group car meet. You'll see a variety of Z's and possibly get a ride in one from naturally aspirated road course swiss army knife to twin turbo drag racing monsters. The sky is the limit with this platform. As for the 50th anniversary color combo, Nissan was definitely drinking that night or smoking the good stuff when drafting the designs. :/

I agree with everything you say. The only issue with this car is it's price tag. At 30k, it's quite steep, especially when you are going to spend a bunch more modding it. 25k would have made it much more attractive

Where has Turbowoski been??? Great review. For a NA engine that revs to 7500RPM, and it's a real sports car (two seats) and it's pretty cheap ($35K), I think it's a great car. I would probably buy a used Nismo version with ultra low miles (better seats, more HP, better looking, better wheels and body rigidity) for $10K less than new. They can be had for $35K with less than 5000 miles on them all day long.

Cars like this are an "era" thing that people take for granted. As stated in the video when it's taken off the table and people realize you can't purchase simple and raw vehicles that are rewarding behind the wheel it'll be cool. 240Z is another interesting example, it's a low power vehicle by today's standards but so many enthusiasts want it (styling is different and very bare bones) show those same people a FT-86 as a current modern alternative and they'll complain it doesn't have enough power...

I think all of us who bought the 370z in 2009 will agree it was like winning the lottery. I speced mine with every feature and option I wanted for about 31k. I have babied this car as if it were an expensive exotic so today (August 2019) it has only 41k miles. But it has had zero maintenance issues and in my opinion, is still a very good looking car. For the last year, it has become my girlfriend's car and she loves it and wants nothing else. Two months ago I bought a CPO 2017 Porsche Carrera and of course I like it a lot more but it costs well over 3 times as much. I actually waited to see what Nissan would come out with this year, hoping the new Z would be a complete redesign that would raise the bar for an affordable and capable sports offering again. Had they done that, I almost definitely would have purchased. I still think the level of style, performance, handling, reliability and value offered here are unrivaled for the price. But just choose a solid color exterior. 🙂

The Forgotten Weapons is a great example of it, with Ian's free command of the language (including the extemporaneous remarks). Mark had that too. But then again, he improved a lot. Old videos all were "solidity this, solidity that". He rarely overuses terms now.

Bought my 2012 Z new and Iove it. Had at the track and it was fine. BTW mine is a 7 speed with the GTR paddle shifters and love those too. You and all the nay sayers can go pound dirt. The Z is the best classic, two seat, sports car for the money currently out there and that includes the new over-styled and ugly looking Supra. Are there faster cars out there? Yes, but the cost way more. If you have the money go buy a Z06 or 911 but if you don't have super big bucks go buy the Z. You'll be glad you did.

Ok so just to put a finer point on something you commented on. Up until 2014 they left the engine sound to be completely organic meaning they made no efforts to alter the way the engine sounded. I am recalling they added some sort of sound tube in 2015 which did alter the way the engine sounds and what is left is the digitized sound you have now which does not sound natural. Therefore, if you want to benefit from the suspension upgrades but still want the natural engine sound present the best bet is for a buyer to purchase a 2012-2014 as I recall you saying they updated the suspension in 2012.

The sweet spot is a lightly used Nismo version: better seats (Recaros), more HP, more body rigidity, better wheels, better suspension and it looks better. A 5000 mile example can easily be fetched for $36k. That’s my goal for my next car.

Downvoted for the "Renault" remark. C'mon man. Renault has fuckall to do with this car... it's a half step up from the 350Z which predates that relationship. And regardless, none of the tech comes from Renault... the VQ, contrary to a certain popular tv show propaganda, has 0 to do with Renault. But I do think it will be come a collector car in a few years. I personally enjoy the fact Nissan left a bit on the table for the car, I really enjoy tinkering and making my cars my own. Also Jack your on camera speaking is much improved from last video, you only really need to work on the on road portion. But that's fair your trying to drive and talk at the same time.

I own a 2014 370Z and I must say it's the best in its category. Why? 1. *Low Maintenance Cost* (Got mine used with 45k miles and only needed an oil change so far.) 2. *Quality* - Reliable little Japanese sports car, would trust it over a Mustang, Camaro and for a good reason. I DAILY drive it. 3. *Handling* - Drives really well and wouldn't run over crowds. If you like the raw driving experience it is a joy to drive. 4. *Value* - Your muscle car depreciates like a banana turning brown under the sun. This doesn't. 5. *Beautiful Design* - Could be subjective but for me it is beautiful. It's a 2009 design and still looks better than a lot of cars out there. 6. *Reliability* - I have been daily driving it for a year now (2014 model) and the distance I've covered is a LOT. Never had any problems and it runs all the same. Unlike some cars there that feel different when they turn 5 years old or run 50k miles. I drive it HARD as well. Tip: Don't buy it new, buy it used like he said. There are bad attributes to it as well but I'll type it in if someone asks.

Here's the story I had a Mazda RX-2 (American V-8 slaying machine). A friend said you got to test drive on of these 240Z Datsun cars (Nissan). So I went expecting the inline 6 240Z to be more of a well, true sports car. Being young, the sales guy had to ride along, after which, he was totally terrified by my driving. He asked "well what do you think". I replied "where's the beef?" A few years ago I figured by now they have pumped up the car and test drove another. After the test drive the young terrified sales person asked "what do you think?" I said I had faster pedal cars as a child !

They jacked the price and alienated the Z family to a great degree. I seldom feel anything for 35 or 37 but then again it took me 2 decades before I began embracing the Z32.
