I think people should have bought this like yesterday! The utter value on these watches is simply unbeatable and they just don't make them like these anymore. Bracelets are a non-issue since they're easily replaceable and there are plenty of options, and I think it's part of the charm of these pieces. I don't care if they don't go up in monetary value because that's not where my values lie.

I'm late with my response: My Seiko 7006-8040 was purchased new on December 15, 1979 for my ninth birthday. It took me two-in-a half years to save up, which seemed like an eternity at the time and the most expensive gift for myself with the permission from my parents that allowed me to make the purchase. According to the Serial Number my watch was manufactured in May 1975. I am writing this post with the same Seiko on my wrist. The main reason as to why I kept the watch, is that 1) Caliber 7006 19 Jewel movement has a metal date corrector wheel. 2) After 45 years of ownership, my watch still looks brand new. I was able to find the original boxes, with warranty book and extra links, last night.

The SNXS 77 is, in my opinion, the nicest one. The deep blue colour of the dial makes it look beautiful. You always know what time it is because it’s such a pleasure to look at it. This watch has the most value for money of any watch.

I own the same watch in grey dial and I can say this is one of the most attractive watches I've ever bought. And there's nothing wrong with the bracelet, people are just noisy. My Watch is very accurate when it comes to time and the day date display is just perfect. This watch reminds of the Rolex datejust with a extra function of day display which the Rolex doesn't have.

I have to make a small correction about why there's no handwinding feature with these. The Japanese takes pride in their magic lever automatic system, which proved to be highly efficient. Also, they didn't expect collector's like us to have multiple watches--just the one watch. The Seiko 5 line is an everyman's watch. If you wore this everyday, in and out you don't need to worry about losing power, believe me I wore a Seiko 5 for one month and yeah it ran without even needing to shake.
@jaredtalangan60119 ай бұрын
good evening sir, may I ask if hand winding a seiko 5 (snxs87) can break the gears?

@@jaredtalangan6011 Seiko 5's don't have a handwind feature and is only reliant on its rotor to keep the power reserve.

@christianmotos9 ай бұрын
Well, I would suggest observing your daily activity. If you sit in the office all the time, and walk less or don’t engage in activity that allows the rotor to spin and recharge-then yes the watch will soon discharge. If it’s an old watch, the automatic system may not be as efficient anymore, too. But I would take the activity as the culprit. I would recommend you occasionally give your watch a shake (swing left and right) 2 mins max before you go to bed or when you rise.

Thank you for all the information, I guess the rotors are not working effeciently than before due to its oldness

Extremely accurate, about -+1 second per week. Honestly to me I don't really understand why pay so much for a high end movement. This has been my daily wear for several years, I shower with it and its fine. Also the hardlex has taken a beating an it hasn't a mark, I replaced the crummy bracelet with a oyster bracelet and even though I look at other watches nothing speaks to me like this grey dial and the excellent lume.
@plantlife776811 ай бұрын
I have had my SNXS79K for a few months now. The bracelet is terrible, that's the first thing I wanted to replace. I bought a rolamy oyster bracelet with center polished links and it's a major upgrade. Using the original end links because the ones the rolamy comes with are too sharp/wierd. Also Pro TIP I saw on a blog, stick a little bit of rolled up clear tape in between the end links and the case to eliminate that rattling sound. This also made a huge difference and made the watch feel much better. I did not feel the need to swap the movement as hacking is not that important to me, the seconds will go back a few seconds by going in reverse when setting the time so you could still set it accurately. The last thing I upgraded or swapped I should say is the caseback. The exhibition caseback is nice, however, this is my second watch so I'm not so attached to that feature. The problem with the exhibition caseback is that it increases the height on your wrist. This was actually a problem for me as it made it harder to adjust to a comfortable size. I bought an old version of this exact watch for cheap just to swap out the solid caseback. It was hard to find but totally worth it if you can find a caseback that will fit this model. Keep in mind it has to give the rotor enough room to move so if you hear scraping sounds it does not fit. After swapping the bracelet, putting some tape in the end links, and swapping the caseback to a solid one, this watch is absolutely amazing! I love it and wear it constantly. My other watch is the SNKL41 which i also upgraded the same bracelet from rolamy along with the tape hack. If you're still reading this and are considering buying an SNXS79, DO IT! It's a beautiful watch.

I recently upgraded an old Seiko 5 (7S36 02J0 from 2011) two tone watch. Its case and matching bracelet was very worn out and the old movement was gaining 5 minutes per day. The dial was its best feature so I put the dial on a new NH36 with luminous day/date wheels and put new hands on it. I then put it into a new SKX style case and it looks really amazing. The new case will help improve the water resistance to about 10-20 ATM with a screw down crown.

Autos ( and by extension analog watches in general) are only good for people who: - do not collect watches - just want to know the time - don't need anything else As an owner of about 60 watches I can tell that Autos are a pita, winding or shaking anytime when not worn for 36-48 hours, setting the time (maybe also date/day) truly sucks. In my opinion anyone is much better off with a cheap digital Casio or Timex. set it once, draw it in a drawer for five years and after that you still can use it - what's not to like? Nonetheless I too have a few Autos and i can appreciate the sweeping second hand, all those little springs and gearwheels and such, but technically spoken they are an absolute anachronism and whenever I'm in the mood to wear one, there is always a digital watch on my other wrist, 'nuff said.
