One thing to mention... anyone placing these in their yard should have a screened vent installed in each end. This is to prevent the build up of flammable vapors that can happen when owners store lawn mowers, power saws etc. inside. Just one cup of gasoline spilled inside evaporates on a warm day and if 'air tight' the vapor lingers. Someone opening the door with a lit cig or even switching on a light or powertool can blow that whole container across the yard. Check it out with your local fire dept. Please... install a screened vent at each end to reduce this hazard. Thanks. Peace my fellow Earthlings.

Sissors Twit Great advice but I open the doors too often for that to happen. But definitely understand where you’re coming from if you were to store stuff for long periods of time but most of these do you have Vance this particular one has two vents as well. If you look above the two blue arrows you can make out the little small vent there’s one on the other side as well

yes I have seen a garage built just like you said they put a pitched roof and barn doors on it and one was a livable room and the other container was for storage and the middle he poured a slab of cement and he had his auto work shop or what ever you want to do that was years ago and from the out side you couldn't tell they were shipping container he cut some window yes sure if I had the room great way to build a huge garage and livable room house well I'm sure you seen plenty of video what to do with them I live in California and they are so stacked up with those like the size of a city more coming in than going out

There are several components to creating an amazing design. One plan I discovered that succeeds in merging these is the Magic Container Plans (check it out on google) without a doubt the best info that I've heard of. look at this unbelievable website.

I can't find anyone that know much about shipping containers. When I bought two of them from this guy the doors opened and closed really easy with no problem at all, but after arriving and being positioned into place by the semi truck driver, the doors are very difficult to open and close. Nearly impossible to open and close I should say. On closer inspection I can see the cam and the cam receiver no longer line up center with each other on the door. Does anyone know a fix on this or what could have caused this? Did the guy I bought them from switch containers on me? Did the container get bent when being dropped from the semi onto he ground? Or is it that the containers are on an uneven surface, which they are since they are just on the dirt ground, and this puts a twist into the container causing this problem?

A lot of times people buy shipping containers on-line and that can be a problem because what they feature on-line is the seller's best quality, while in-fact they'll actually send you their poorest quality. In the future 3 things to check for: 1.) Always go to the location of the one selling the container, so you can see what you're getting. And if the dealer happens to have several, you may be able to get your pick. 2.) If the containers has a number-of-sort on the side or perhaps bring a can of spray paint and tag your initials on it. I mean --you bought it, it's your's, so you should have the freedom to do so. And if the seller asks why, tell him that there's so many here, you want the one delivering it to know which one it is. 3.) Is there a return policy? ...worth checking into, if you get the wrong container, or get one that isn't as nice as the one you saw. As far as you other dilemmas? ...I'd suggest getting a jack and add some footings under your container. Concrete blocks perhaps or even a bed of stones. A sufficient gap under your container will allow water/moisture not to collect, thus prevent rotting your floor, or causing rust. As far as your doors are concerned? ...what I've said so far may relieve the issue. But any other damage/wear? ...you might want to find a contractor and they might be able to repair it or perhaps direct you to someone that he might know that would know more about what to do, like a welder if required. Otherwise? ...sand/grind your rust spots, patch them with bondo, and seal them --probably could use Flex Seal to do so. As far as your container getting hot inside? ...buy some reflective paint to put on top and/or build a frame inside that'll give 2" of insulation on your walls and ceiling. I hope this helps & good luck.

P.S. If your container is twisted, it usually means that it was involved in a wreck, or the container was dropped. Twisting it back may seem like the right thing, but it could snap the welds/assembly, and cause worse issues/injury. If it can overlooked --great. But if it concerns you, I'd say either buy an other one. Or cut this one up into panels and reattach it to an internal frame. That way since the frame is going to be straight, the rest will follow. But still even if you frame is straight, the shell itself(the container) may take some finessing or something to fill the gaps --if any. Plus if you are going to cut it up into sections, I'd advise doing it in SMALL sections, so it's easier to keep straight, and easier to handle than trying to move large pieces.

Hi, Russ. Lots of powerful and some negative responces, dont know if you got your issue solved, but simply said no matter how they deliver it you need to level the container. It is NOT fully levelled all on its own. put a jack under each corner and adjust until you can open and close the doors smoothly. It's that simple. Enjoy your containers!

I will need two 40 foot High Cubes lined up back to back and I'll cut the back ends out so it's one long 80 foot container. Then weld them together with plate steel on the outside. Then add two 6 foot side doors. That's one long storage container :) Then I can built 2x4 divider walls where I want them to make four separate sections. Containers will be used as a retaining wall and I'll built a house in front with a 6 foot sidewalk (space) in between the containers and the house :) I don't have much depth, front to back, on the land. (West Virginia) Thoughts?
