UPDATES (Latest, 4th May 2024): *** My greatest apologies for the prostate exam dark humour - I honestly regretted the only distasteful joke on my whole channel very, very shortly after uploading but as a small channel where this video had already exploded to become my most popular to date, I missed the realistic window to delete, edit and reupload. So my sincere apologies for anyone who may have been affected or understandably annoyed by that. **Apparently the hydraulic steering changes to electric in later models (I think somewhere around 2015/2016). *Finally, a shoutout to @Brian Morecombe, who remembered some positive survey findings on Jaguar from 2014: Here are the findings of the Jaguar Media report in 2014: - "Jaguar named Best BRAND in What Car? / J.D. Power survey for a third year in a row" - "Jaguar's Best Brand accolade was attained due to the marque's high ratings for styling, comfort, reliability, insurance costs and dealer facilities." - "Jaguar finished joint first with Lexus." So it seems to me that the overall satisfaction with Jaguar for cars up to 3 years old was fantastic from 2011 to 2014. That's awesome! Perhaps with any problems being fixed under warranty anyway, it's not enough to put a dent in the happiness of customers. It is worth noting still that Landrover/Rangerover are still lowest in the 'dependability' ranking, even in 2021+, and as the company is Jaguar Land Rover, I'd research whatever car you're thinking of buying carefully to see where in the spectrum of reliability it sits! P.S Amazing to see so many F Type owners commenting below with the love for their cars no matter what experience they've had! They're obviously worth it if you can afford a car of this type :)

On the Boot size and reliability: Last year I took my 2016 F-Type R V8 Coupe on a 3 week long, 4200 miles across 10 countries European Road Trip. We've packed hiking gear, beach gear, presents, tripod and 2 Full Frame Camera bags for me and the wife and everything fitted in the boot under the boot shelf! 🙂 Because of EU laws I've also had to take Fire Extinguisher, high-vis vests, replacement bulb kit, warning triangle, torch, spare windscreen washer fluid, blanket, bottles of water! 😀 I've not had a single issue with the car, it's rock solid 👍 Best of all even after 8 hours of driving we were not tired because the car is so comfy 🙂 We were also doing speeds up to 170 mph on the Autobahn 🤘😎🤘

This is so good to know! I currently own a P250:E-pace (already my second Jag) and since I sold my old timer Alfa spider recently and work less, I am no longer in need of a workhorse and long for a convertible again. I have my eye in a 2015 F type with low mileage I would trade in my Epace for but the limited boot space was my one big concern, as it would be my daily driver.

You summed up my feelings about the F-Type so comprehensively. I own the V6 P340 version, and it has all the power and performance I need. I find its power-to-size ratio to be just right for me. I treat it like a piece of valued art. I can’t stop looking at it, cleaning it, and basically coveting it as if I don’t really own it myself. It’s still hard to believe I do own it. It feels like someone else’s supercar life. I particularly enjoyed your description of what Jaguar really means to an owner at timecode 13:59 and following. I've owned two now one of which went on a 5000 mile round Europe road trip and I think you absolutely nailed all the points on this car. I had a 2015 V6S and then a later 2018 400 Sport which whilst it had better infotainment and seats was a lot quieter and dulled down due to WLTP changing things in the newer cars. The earlier cars around the 2014-2016 mark are absolute gems and starting to make even more sense as used car prices are starting to finally take a hit. Great Video!

Mine kicked me in the teeth for a new drive shaft, supercharger repair kit and random radio sensor (which was draining the battery once a week) in the first 18 months, all over £1,500 per time - not to mention the rattles and squeaks which come and go almost every trip. However, it looks so good and gets so many positive comments it really does feel like you’re driving around in a movie star. For now - worth the £££

Would you mind sharing these major motor organisations? I'd honestly love to see this as I love Jaguar! In all the publications I've read and major surveys online, I've found JLR consistently near the bottom for as long as I can remember. I test drove a 2015 F-Type S. I did a test drive, because I didn't believe Jaguar could EVER make anything remotely as good as the E-Type. I did a test drive to prove the F-Type S wasn't as good....................but it is. 2015 was the last 2WD year and there are times I wished I'd got an AWD. But there will always be something that is your limit in the car and I'm OK with that being getting the power down in a 2WD. 1. Suspension IS harsh after 30-60 minutes drive. 2. It's not one thing to the exclusion of everything else. I drive to work as a luxury car, with everything on automatic, Radio 4 giving me the news etc. and then I come home playing AC/DC and looking for 911 drivers to scare. It is heavy and it's almost like a GT in the body of a sports car. If you want to take something to the track every week, this may not be for you. 3. NOTHING on this earth will make you laugh as much. It's pure theater. 4. Reliability over 4 years - 2 fuel injectors (my fault for not taking care with fuel). New windshield, took 2 weeks to ship to the SW US. and a leather headliner which delaminated and which made me mad. Replaced with standard headliner and saved $3,000. 5. It's going to cost you lots of money. Accept it, or go buy another car. My insurance (59yo) is about $1,500 year. I just had a service and tracking done for $700, etc. 6. You will never blend into the background (which you may want to do after a long day at work, tired, etc.). 7. Sport exhaust is alleged to add 15-20HP, so feel comfortable saying "about 400HP". 8. ZF transmission is divine. 9. I added green and red tape to the paddles, for easier visibility. 10. I lost a 0-60 to a Corvette Z06 (everything does). But apart from that, the only thing to regularly go past me has flashing lights on top. LOVE IT and will love even more once I finish paying for it next April. BUT: 1. Discontinued. 2. Only 3 Jaguar dealers in Arizona. 3. Jaguar going all electric by 2025. I may soon have to sell it and buy a better daily driver OR put it in a barn for 30 years.

I sold a 996tt for my awd v6s...the turbo 996 had coolant leaks, a tranny fork in 2nd gear, and a to be diagnosied vacuum leak with a 23 h estimate in work at a dealer.... Porsches are not that reliable. Google bore scoring. This F type has been blissfully simple - oil, fluids, plugs....55k and brakes still ahve 30-45% of their life left...amazing car. ZF8 is really quite nice....had a dsg and in traffic they are clunky/not great. A af8 is actually better unless you are on a track at 9-10/10ths. The V6S can make 476hp with normal gasoline and 530 or more with E85......that is actually more than the 996tt...and the Jaguar looks a lot better than a 911 unless it is a Rauh Welt or a Singer or a 992 gt3 variant.

Very good, intelligent and informative video, I just sold my 1994 Porsche 993 C2 manual which I loved dearly but due to arthritis long journeys were taking their toll, was dead set on getting a F type R V8 but having spoken to a mate who own a Jaguar Land Rover garage he strongly advised me to go for the V6 s which surprised me somewhat. His opinion is the V6s is the pick of the bunch and maintains the V8R is just too much power to use, continuously holding back on the throttle to avoid getting into trouble and verging on being dangerous, I must add this guy is a total petrol head and has raced and rallied many very fast cars through the years. So thanks for the video, I'm booked in tomorrow for a test drive in a 2016 F-Type s, 23,000 miles, full Jaguar history priced at £30,000 and I've yet to haggle, your video reiterated everything I was told this morning. I had a V6S for 2.5 years and mostly it was awesome. I had the diff changed under warranty and as I was selling it the active exhaust started squeaking like an old wheelbarrow and that knocked about £1500 off the value. But the worst thing was the battery going flat. First time it left us stranded at the airport, having arrived back from a week’s holiday after midnight - deader than dead. Then, a few weeks later, during the winter, it died on the drive having not been used for a few days. I know - I shouldn’t have ignored it and it probably took the hump. In the end I sold it to raise the funds for my son to move into his own place. Since then I’ve had Volvos, which are ok, but they don’t give you that sense of occasion and the sheer driving joy that the F Type does. I’ve never had a car give so much enjoyment .. I loved it and I miss it, despite its flaws. I just need to find a way to get one back into my life.

I've thought about selling it a few times but this car is so special there's no way I can let it go. The V6s is undoubtedly the most collectible version apart from the Project 7. The V6S in particular is the last 6-cylinder AWD internal combustion engine the brand will ever make, think about that. Previous to this the last 2-seater sports car the brand made was the E-type. I would not be surprised to see many keen collectors snap up these V6S models. The market is flooded with V8s both pre and post-facelift, the V6S models are the gem of the F-type lineup.

I have owned a 2013 F type V6 convertible for over 5 years now and I can tell you that it is simply the best car that I have ever had. It turns heads, has a super car performance with a sound that you can't better. I have had no additional costs outside of the usual tyres and brakes and servicing over the 5 years. Look at Jeremy Clarkson review of the F type on Top Gear when he states "one of the best looking cars ever made" A future classic

Really good review, I got my f type a year ago (v8) and for me the v6 wasn't even an option because I wanted something that looked good, sounded great but could rival the power and almost compete at supercar level. Would be interesting to see how you compare the v6 to v8 after driving one

Added carplay/google, both wireless, via aliexpress unit for 350 dollars...and another 100 for professional installer to come to my home......takes over the nav and done. I just use it every drive. This car (I have a coupe) is far more beautiful than any of those mentioned in the video...that matters. And it sounds better (V6) than any other V6, flat 6's even (had a 996...) and most V8's....even a v10 here and there. It is in these ways superior to cayman, boxster, 911, ttrs, etc. My 996 was not made well...this is holding up way better interiorly and suspension/engine wise. Using a competent Indy shop: 25% of dealer costs..... Great cars. Not that expensive to buy or own. Supercar for reasonable money. Better looking than the 911.....since I cannot drive over 8/10's legally, fully equal. Really comes down to one's grasp of reality.

@@ShaShaggy 2016 Type S awd with full leather, glass roof, 20" forged wheels - the radio is the one found by multiple aftermarket vendors and I found it on aliexpress. One needs to know that "bosch" is the head unit type at least for my unit. Had a pro install it for another 100 dollars. as noted...he added a microphone. Now it is up to snuff. If you remote start it you need to connect manually on your phone when you get the the car (bt). Then it just connects. Wireless carplay is nice. Very. Has rear camera/sensors too....sort of perfect spec. sport seats hug you. active exhaust is amazing. Great engine. Putting oil and fluids into engine/tranny and looking to it being a 300k mil car for me. Plugs are a pain to change..they go 100k miles....don't do them early as I did them at 50k and changed them and the old ones were perfect....at 50k. No carbon at all at 50k. They've actually re-designed the headlight of this car - and I love both designs! But what's more astonishing is that not that they are able to play around with the Genius base design - but that the Original looks more 'Vintage' yet Modern. I love that its headlights 'arch up' and are not flat like the newer one, and that lends a lot of aggression to the car as they Perfected the grille which has a wide stance anyway.
@petrolpoodle2 жыл бұрын
Totally agree! I still prefer the original F Type design, it feels like Ian Callum got it 100% right then had to have a go at making a change just for the sake of a facelift. I did however see a stunning example just yesterday of the '22 F Type coupe and it was next to the XKR-S and an XK parked up. It suddenly all made sense and I could see it was actually a great bit of design. I still prefer the original but now just marginally!

I thought for a half second about buying one of these. I think the F-Type Coupe is the most gorgeous modern car since the Ferrari killed the F355. I was recently in car shopping mode and the price of a used V6 with a 6 spd manual transmission was right in line with my budget. But the reliability..... oh that was eating me up. So yeah, I ended up buying a new MX-5 GT soft top which has a warranty and all that. But Ohhhh how I wanted to put an F-Type in the drive, but I was just afraid it was going to bite me with a repair bill the first chance it got.
@fw14212 жыл бұрын
My worry with cars like this is buying one that has depreciated down to the point of affordability and it’s gotten to the point that reliability issues start cropping up. Mechanical superchargers are not something that is inexpensive to repair/replace. Lots of horsepower from a V-6 means turbo’s or a supercharger and both have a limited life span before they need to be rebuilt/replaced. Of course I know if you can’t afford the maintenance,don’t buy it,but these videos are aimed at those that aren’t able to buy them new. It’s a gorgeous car and the F-Type is the one that speaks to me,but just like an old 911 cost of upkeep is a big issue.
@petrolpoodle2 жыл бұрын
Well this is it, totally agree. In all of my videos I try to really remind people of the financial risk they take on when buying a used fun car. I've been so horrendously stung myself and I'm always having friends (who finally have fun car budgets) run towards risky car purchases without knowing the brand very well!
@harrysmith61632 жыл бұрын
I have spent months researching the F Type with a view to a second hand ‘depreciating to affordability’ bracket purchase, which I have just made. My concerns were like you state - will higher mileage spell woes? Well, I even contacted Powerhouse over in Yorkshire who are specialist supercharger rebuilders. The car I have bought is a 72k mile V6S, which had a new engine under warranty at 60k miles. This was the response regarding my supercharger preventative maintenance oil change question from Powerhouse “Nice choice of car... have a soft spot for the F-Type. The oil figures you are quoting are generic, if the supercharger is still in good health it technically doesn't need doing for a LONG time. As we all know though, things don't last forever, someone can have a part last 200k and another fail at 50k. Changing the oil is more of an inspection tool, gives chance to confirm the oil is still clean, free from metallic debris to be confident until the next service. At 72k, we wouldn't normally expect any issues with the oil in the supercharger. They do however regularly suffer coupler failures, that’s a damped connector between snout and main supercharger. We would advise checking that more than the oil, if that was worn and needed replacing then consider changing the oil at that point. Replacing the oil in situ in these is quite difficult and can take many hours to get all the parts away to get to the filler. Some cars due to other layouts or stubborn bolts it hasn't been possible at all with the supercharger fitted. We can check the coupler for you or if you are handy with a few tools you can check quite easily. Simply detention the supercharger belt, take the belt off the top pulley, rotate by hand the pulley left/right. There should be no free play, 1-2mm at finger tips shows wear is starting but not immediate to replace, 2-5mm really needs changing asap, anything more needs replacing but there is a higher risk of the bearing behind it being knocked out so further works may be required. If you need any more info just let us know. Kind Regards, David Langfield Powerhouse Automotive (UK) Ltd. Unit 3a, Broom Business Park, Bridge Way, Sheepbridge Chesterfield, S41 9QG, United Kingdom

Great review and you are not the first KZbin reviewer of a supercharged Jaguar that I have heard break out into giggles of joy. Definitely a car that an enthusiastic driver will enjoy. I have a bit of a lateral suggestion for fans of the F-Type. I run a 2016 Jaguar XF S Supercharged myself. Same 375 bhp engine, similar suspension (F-Type derived), similar performance (0-60 5.1 seconds, only 0.2 seconds slower; top speed a limited 155 mph). Fantastic handling, a laugh-out-loud joy to drive along twisty B-Roads . As one reviewer said, it's basically an F-Type with room in the back for your mates and luggage space for those long trips away. Worth considering for those F-Type fans with family and/or multiple mates perhaps?

Great review, comprehensive, accurate and honest. I owned a 2016 base for use as a daily driver. I found it to be visually beyond stunning, quick and agile. Ultimately I chose to sell the car within a year’s time, very much regretting not purchasing a manual transmission, of the opinion after a period time owning what was my first “paddle shifting” car, that true sports cars were never meant to be equipped with automatic transmissions - worse thing to ever have happened in my opinion - I blame the millennial generation. 😉 In essence, I do not distinguish between a silver-haired octogenarian Mercedes grand touring car and any “automatic transmission sports car” - an oxymoron. Other than what the reviewer has commented on, my biggest faults for the car would be related to visibility, abysmal in all directions and the paddle shifting which can lag. I replaced the F-Type with a 69 E-Type FHC (BRG/Biscuit), though it doesn’t serve as a daily driver - it is, however, driven routinely, i.e., not a garage queen - drive it like you stole it, cars were not meant to sit. 😊For daily use, I purchased an 07 XK coupe (BRG/Caramel) for a bucket of coconuts, 58K miles. I truly love the car as a grand tourer and it garners as many looks as the F-Type did which surprises me but I’ll take it, and I can see in all directions… 😙 Again, great review, kudos!

But also, the F-Type isn't actually a sports car. It's a GT, which is fine because that's what most people really want anyway... But whatever, I mainly just wanted to point out that the original E-Type had a six-cylinder engine, and nobody complains about _that,_ so you shouldn't feel bad about a six-cylinder F-Type. Like Poodle-man, here, I was all set to buy an NC Miata, personally, but I veered-off at the last moment and bought an old Corvette project car. Hey, it was _cheap._ Thank god, because it's still sitting out there, waiting to be sorted. I have many boxes, full of lovely new parts, which means now I _have_ to finish it...

How crazily good has to be designed to be talking in 2022 about a car launched in 2013

It still looks amazing and current today!

The other over looked car with more practical functionality if you prefer your German cars is buying a BMW E89 35is which has the 1M engine with better boot space 310 litres and better security with a hard top convertible. It reminds me a lot of a BMW 507 and they cost millions.

That's actually a great shout and I'd love to review one. I hear the engine can be slightly troublesome but absolutely glorious when it's working perfectly

I have a 2016 3.0 S coupe manual on the way, all black, 20s, every option. Paid too much perhaps but at my advanced age it's now or never. It'll share the garage with a 2016 MX-5.
@petrolpoodle Жыл бұрын
That is a bloody dream garage you have there!!! That'll be incredible!!! The owner of the F Type and I swapped cars last summer on a big drive and we fully attacked some special roads. I adored the mad engine of the F Type and he said that MX-5 drive was in his top 3 drives of all time! He just loved the manual interaction and personality of the MX-5 handling. You now have the best of both!
@3ducs Жыл бұрын
@@petrolpoodle They each have their strengths. I think I'd keep the MX-5 even if I'd found a similarly spec'd F-Type to the coupe that's coming, it has a lightness that works well on the New Hampshire, USA backroads I drive. The F-Type will be my Darth Vader ride.

Bought mine brand new in 2018, only did 4k miles in 3 years. After its 1st MOT, i was advised about the rust underneath! Lancaster Jaguar didnt want to know, sold it quick and lost £20k

Love the review, but you have to get the R! The 550BHP V8, quad exhaust, coupe. Ita just as good as the Cayman 718 GTS in its own way.

I'd absolutely love to experience one, that iconic Jaguar V8 must be nuts!

If I lived in the UK I'd seriously consider something like this. Same with BMWs in Germany and Jeeps in the US. Living in Australia though, nah. Love the vid though.

Don’t get me wrong it’s a brilliant car and I do want one but I have a Jaguar XF 3 litre 2010 model in blue cream heated seats but I think the interior in the xf is far better than th f type the dile for switching gears and the pop up vents make the car so luxurious and make it seem more exspensive than it is and you can get them cheap now for around £5099 and it’s 2 secs slower on 0 to 60 so we’ll worth it money 235 horse power it’s best car jag have made

I test drove one with 13k miles(2014) the auto trans was absolutely garbage. I'd step on the gas and there was a solid second between when I did and it engaged with the engine. Car sounded so fantastic but ultimately the transmission delay made it not appealing to me.
@petrolpoodle Жыл бұрын
Wow that doesn't sound anything like the one I drove, I'm genuinely wondering if that gearbox was calibrated strangely or was having physical issues. This F Type was superb, try another if you're ever in the market again!

Bonjour. Merci ! Bonne continuation

Fantastic review! Well shot, well documented and hitting all the points! I'm in the V6 vs a V8 dilemma at the moment but here in India, a used 2013/14 V6 costs about £55k haha! I do prefer the V6 but I've heard conflicting reliability stories, some claiming that the V6 is a more sound choice whilst others saying its the V8 that's trouble-free.
@petrolpoodle2 жыл бұрын
Thank you so much! That's a great question actually, I've never looked into the differences in reliability. I would call a Jaguar specialist who's independent as they'll tell you what they fix most and recommend ☺

V8 is the way to go reliability wise
@CRGB-ec3vu Жыл бұрын
It's literally the same engine base except they cut off 2 cylinders.
@nigel.w Жыл бұрын
@@CRGB-ec3vu Cutting off 2 cylinders from a V8 is a cheap and nasty way of getting a V6. Ideally a V8 has a 90 degree V angle and a V6 has a 60 degree angle. The F-Type's V6s have 90 degree V angles, which causes balance problems. It also uses the same block as the V8, with 2 cylinders just left unused rather than cutting them off. Therefore, the V6 is also almost as heavy as the V8. The V6 has problems, not just because it's a cheap and nasty re-engineering of the V8, which is a result of lack of investment, but also because that lack of investment means a lack of development. A wide angle V6 can work, if it's because of packaging, but it requires good engineering development. All these cheap and nasty V6 cutdowns from V8s have had problems, and these F-Type V6s are no different. If the V6 F-Type had a pukker V6 you probably wouldn't be able to buy one for little more than GBP20K. IMO, that's the main reason they're cheap. There's a reason the V6 was dropped. I hate to say it, but the P300 I4 is probably a better car than the V6s.
@-A-lm5xb Жыл бұрын
@@nigel.w I doubt that there would be the market for development of a completely separate V6 engine. I understand the comment from a purist point of view but it's not a case of "cheaping out". I've never heard any real criticism of the engine from a single owner in the years that I've been following the development of the F-type. Generally most problems are caused by lack of maintenance, which is generally true regardless of what you buy. I follow 3 different Jag forums and I've never heard a single owner say they wouldn't buy another due to reliability problems.
