But also exceptionally easy to DiY, these cars are ideally owned by mechanics or amateur mechanics, anyone who chooses to pay the absurd labour rates you mention is better off spending it on the annual intrest for a 992

The gearing still bothers me, and I don't think it would be long before I'd be dropping the diff and fitting a shorter final drive. On UK roads the gearing is bad enough, but on track, taking some corners in 1st gear is obscene! Its a pointless set of ratios, designed for going 150mph on the nurburgring!

I bought a used 2009 model 2 years ago it's the FN1 actually (1.8, 140hp) with low mileage. The only problem so far one burned headlight bulb from the driver's side. Fast, reliable, fun to drive and cheap to maintain so far.....

Great video. I owned a 2006 Elise and have always wanted another Lotus. I love the Emira, it is truly an amazing car, but I want to spend less on my next car and the Evora is really attractive. Also, for the video camera you might want to consider turning off auto focus and just manually focusing since it's stationary in the car and you aren't really moving closer or further from camera.

@2:09 Having a high quality interior doesn't define luxury, nor does being a Porsche defines luxury but at least you achieved putting as much claptrap in a few sentences as possible. 👍 @18:13 The biggest problem was that the Boxter was the better deal than the 911 despite costing a fraction of it.

I just bought a 2009 Honda Civic 1.8 as my third car (after a 1991 Mazda 323 1.6 and a 2000 Audi A3 1.6) last summer,and I'm really happy with it. It's reliable,with four doors and a big trunk it's practical,140 hp is more than enough power for my needs,and I like how it looks.

I used to enjoy lightweight cars - I had a modified hot hatch that was a lot of fun untl I moved to Audi, and realised it's a whole different level in terms of quality and performance. Being in the 2 ton department I don't miss the 890kg pocket rocket thing, there's a lot more to driving than being lighter.

Great cars, I have a 3.2L S 986. I had the IMS replaced for £1200 simply so I could drive it using the full rev range as intended without listening for the sound of the engine disintegrating. The RMS was replaced for free by Porsche at the first main service. The MX5 is fine but it's really a baby brother compared with the Boxster. Any convertible which can top 150mph is a serious proposition.

Looking at this awesome review becuase thinking of getting one of these. I pretty much have for me a perfect setup: 993 for “slow” fun and B8 S4 for family trips and winter. The issue is, S4 is becoming old, and a bit too small for family trips as kids grow. The S4’s supercharged engine is a blast and in real world with a stage 1 tune not many family cars can be significantly faster. Being a manual gives also extra fun to it. I love driving, but don’t use a daily. So it is pretty much every trip I take is to enjoy the car travelling somewhere. Will the RS6 be as fun as a manual S4? The performance is higher but not really that much actually. RS6 look and sound awesome, but wondering if they are worth the costs in the end for a bit extra performance and sound. I won’t race the car with family obviously so dynamics aren’t such a concern,(have 911 for that) but I like an autobahn blast. Don’t see many other options, Panamera Sport Turismo is above my car budget, I don’t like interior of BMWs (550 is also an underliable engine) and Benz aren’t my cup of tea either. Though decisions in the world where so much is SUV and those are a no-go for me.
@petrolpoodle
@petrolpoodle 8 күн бұрын
Thank you! And that's an absolutely epic two car garage!! My honest instinct is for you to keep the S4 (that manual especially and it being supercharged, I think it'll be louder and more immediate in response) and I'd look at a roofbox for those big family trips where you need more space? The RS6 is bloody brilliant but I think coming from your setup you'd miss the driving interaction and fun. If you massively want the more modern touches/spec plus extra space the RS6 is still a good shout

I know, right? I would have bet my life on it that an Audi RS6 would be in that Golf R kind of category where there'd be high views on 'ultimate daily' cars but it's currently sitting quietly with hardly any views, whilst a 2014 Lotus Evora S sits at 100k! I can't get my head around it sometimes, just when I think I've started to understand the algorithm. The most popular Shorts video of the year was the DeLorean... the least popular long form video... the DeLorean!? Hahaha Thank you for your kind words and I shall do my best! 2.0 D3 5 cylinder 2013. The original D3 from 2010 to 2013 was 163bhp but the same unit. This one is 'detuned' to 136bhp but I actually believe it's got more power. I think there was a D3 in the newer 4 cylinders which is an entirely different engine, if I'm correct. But I'm a little rusty on that particular one.

I own a 2018 P300 and I love it. It has more than enough power for daily driving, and on occasions when the traffic is light, I will redline it. I also love the 28mpg I get driving on city streets and combined with freeway driving. The jag is now almost 6 years old and has been trouble free. This F Type puts a smile on my face whenever I drive it, especially when ever I get a thumbs up👍 from people as I drive by. Now that Jaguar is no longer producing more F Types, I am definitely going to keep it . I also have a Subaru Forester, so my Jag will have low mileage if and when I decide to sell it. Go and buy one, you’ll not regret it!

I own a 2014 Subaru BRZ. I like it for it's back seat and it's modern similarity to a Porsche 356. I considered a MIata when I purchased but it was too small. The Boxster? I like them and may own one in the future. owned a Porsche 911 S, 1977. I understand your positive thoughts regarding the 911; it is a magical car. A great and honest review! Thanks. Subscribed!

I'm almost a year into my 2.5L 986 ownership, and I bought it specifically because I missed my first-gen MX-5. To me, the the Boxster is a Miata, with the addition of just enough: Just enough storage space for all my stuff, enough interior space for any one of my friends, enough power to keep up with traffic, enough safety to commute without fear, enough rust-proofing to put on Winter tires without guilt, and enough comfort for a road trip with my wife. Conversely, a Miata is a Boxster, but a little too much: Too small of a trunk, too small of an interior for taller people, too little power to safely merge on an American highway, too archaic on the safety front to risk it 365 times a year, too bare to survive a salty Winter, too uncomfortable to convince a civilized person to get onboard. It's unbeatable as a roadster because it abandons any pretense of doing anything else. Of course, the Boxster is larger, heavier and less fun at low speed, but I never have to give up on driving it because the weather is wrong, because I need to bring something too big for the trunk, or because there's heavy traffic. Sometimes, on a clear weekend drive in light traffic, I still miss my Miata. For the rest of life, there's a Boxster.

Complaint that a small car has a small boot and a small interior is just whining.
@petrolpoodle
@petrolpoodle 12 күн бұрын
It isn't though. It's being realistic and saying that whilst it's easy to get sucked into why these are amazing cars to drive and maintain, if you *tell yourself* you'll get by absolutely fine with a tiny interior and boot and to just pull the trigger, it's worth considering that those shortcomings do crop up sometimes. I've overall said millions of positive things about the car too, I'd say it's balanced to talk about the negatives, no?

Spot on review and love the verdict 👍 Currently figuring out the same question for months now and first quarter of 2025 I want to make the final call. I've got a pretty decent job with a company car, no CEO position or whatsoever but it's fine. The misses drives our private Skoda Kodiaq with tons of space and I'm in the market for: BMW M2 (F87) fun car or we trade in the Skoda and upgrade towards RS6. Keep up the good work!
