Yeah my favorite part about this game was we got to see a badass salmon and angry Sam because of his daughter that right there was missing because he was never really this badass you know he was very you know stealthy and very good at what he does but I like this badass Sam I like and I like the enemies that actually get angry and they start cursing you out when you kill one of their guys. That right there made the game for me instantly. I got so hyped hearing them curse each other curse me out when I killed one of their guys. I loved it. You know and then you just a badass like you know he's just like doesn't give a fuck. You know he's like. Oh you piss me off now it's time for you to pay. I did love that and I wish that the new splinter cell that was announced the remaster remake. Whatever they want to call it goes back to that. That badass Sam. Sure you can make them more stealthy but also give us both give us for those who want stealth and for those who want a badass sound because I would be playing it as a badass sound for sure. You know I want to feel like that badass super spy untouchable have everybody cursing me out because it can't get to me like the Bourne movies .

Conviction had the best plot of the series. It was simple and effective. You felt Sam's rage. It made me invested in what Sam was doing instead of "go to this random location to stop a bad guy". Plus, you feel like the ultimate badass right out the gate.

Such an under appreciated game. One of my most favorite games. Finished countless times & was the reason I bought my Xbox 360 in 2009. I thought story, graphics & gameplay were brilliant, I replayed this in 2019 & still impressed me.

Great review. This is not a bad game but I felt it was a bit lazy on its development. You can't read emails nor do you have secondary missions. You can't interact with civilian NPCs. The game just lacks things to do in it's environment level design.

Also, you failed to mention the deniable ops mode, which I found added multiple hours of content. 3 different modes (with a couple of gameplay limiters like pistols only and such) where enemies are semi randomly generated on each play through. By the time you finish the campaign, you'll also have a full kit of weaponry and gadgets to choose from before going in, with supply caches to alter your load out at intervals in each mode. It's all excellent.

Dude ! How could you mention Conviction and not mention DENIABLE OPS and the Deniable Ops DLC ?? The ONLY reason to play the story is to unlock the weapons and gadgets for Deniable Ops. Deniable Ops is full on stealth, you can set it to 'fail on see' if that's your thing, it's just a giant sandbox for inventive kills. I love it.

Conviction could be totally another game but it was remade because public didn't like it. Blacklist is released after Conviction. In Blacklist they tried to join best parts from Conviction and older SC mechanics. And actually it was ok. I like to replay deniable ops.

I replayed the hell out of Deniable Ops back in the day lol.. No Weapons Only 😁 Yep! In the original Conviction there were going to be scenarios where Sam would blend in with crowds for cover, similar to Assassin's Creed. He was straight up nomad too, taking out enemies in public. I love Conviction, but I would've liked to see their original concept completed. As for Blacklist, solid game! They listened to the fans and gave us the choice of action or stealth. If only Michael Ironside could have been involved it would have been better in my opinion.

I think you made=e some good points but some criticisms are: 1: Blacklist didnt return to the original formula. Blacklist was basiclly conviction with a bit more stealth but lighting plays almost no role in both, and was a big thing in the original 2: I think you should make more solid statments in term of "should you buy it or not" 3: I think you didnt emphasis that stealth is available in most times(in the start of the mission) just not encouraged Anyway I hope this information helps:)

Blacklist was definitely still a departure but it was more than just Conviction with a little more stealth, it had way more gadgets, guns and customization than Conviction (than any game in the series really), the possibility to play through the game without killing or even knocking out anyone (not to mention more focus on a non-lethal playstyle like the OG gales) and way more open-ended levels (like in CT) so I'd say that it was kind of a mix of Conviction and the OG games, but I agree with the rest, being silent and staying in the darkness wasn't really that important, it lacked some cool stuff like interrogations and emails, the pacing was way faster and too many missions took place during daylight, but still I think the game deserves more credit

Die hard collector and fan since day 1... Conviction will always be a top game as a whole and definitely an interesting SC entry. I loved the stream lined game play... and truthfully it feels like a bourne or 24 game. I love it!

I never played main campaign much. For me co-op mode, that you can also play solo, is much more interesting and you can play it full stealth. Different maps from main game linked to campaign. Instead playing as Sam Fisher you play as Archer or Kestrel. I can't say much about story but it is in Russia and last missions are in undeground military bases. It is my favoite Splinter Cell experience. Even better in co-op splitscreen, that is possible on xbox 360.

It doesn't take itself serious and of you think it promotes action rather than stealth I gotta ask. Have you played the whole game without being spotted? Excluding the dumb Iraq mission.

compared to splinter cell 1-3 conviction and blacklist are trash. They're action shooters, with a revamped movement system in a fast paced environment. They can't even be compared to actual splinter cell. Double Agent even had better splinter cell mechanics/gameplay and that game kinda sucked. There is no flavor to this, it's just action nonsense, basically 3rd person cod. Shouldn't even have the SC title. First off, it's a GREAT game, you can stealth it a lot, but just like in every other SC game, there has to be some combat. That being said, i am not a fan of 100% ghosting it, actually i prefer the Panther approach, stalk them and when the time is right, melee takedown, there is a certain appeal to creep in closer and closer to your enemy, until the moment to strike is ripe. Only downside is the lack of players for co-op. There are also the Deniable Ops, which is the solo version of the Co-Op mode. The game is much more than 6-8 hours long. You want to try different ways to approach objectives and to this day i am still playing it. And if the game isn't good, why would the uploader bother to do a review after all these years ? Anyway, if you want to form your own opinion before buying the game, watch some KZbin videos of the single player story and/or some co-op. In the previous 4 games in the series, the gameplay pays heavy emphasis on stealth, hell, even more than the Thief series. Conviction and Blacklist, are made with more freedom in mind, stealth or go all out war or any combination inbetween, you make adjustments as you go. There are enough gadgets to satisfy all kinds of players. And finally, because a mistake that Ubisoft made, they have given the expansions to SC Conviction for free. It's just some more Deniable Ops missions. All Deniable Ops can be played solo or Co-Op. My name in SC Conviction is Skyrunner001, in case anyone would like some co-op :)

Y'all know the only reason Ubisoft dropped Splinter Cell was cause it's tough to monetize one or two guys crouching around some rooms. If modern Ubi rebooted the franchise, we'd have quantity over quality. Think endless maps with endless microtransaction outfits. Every decision would favor streamlining, often dumbing-down gameplay. Developer innovation would only serve to improve spending of cash. I don't want Casino Splinter Cell. Get these older classics while you can. Just know you'll want more, with little hope of future fulfillment.

I respect your opinion but maybe you’re not as stealthy as you think. The game can indeed be played in full stealth save for the flashbacks and a few forced combat situations. Though considering you enjoy blacklist as a stealth game I won’t hold your opinion in too much regard.

I’m not gonna lie to you, I’ve never played a splinter cell game, and while I’m not against stealth games or anything like that, I do prefer to go guns blazing, so once you said that the game is more towards in your face action, I think that’s the moment when I should probably start off with this one. Don’t get me wrong tho, regardless of what I may prefer over stealth, I’ve been looking at blacklist and it looks like a good game either way. Since there is still a deal right now for blacklist and this game on Xbox both for 5.99 that’s why I’m checking out both of these games. I think I won’t mind most of the complains in this game. A former pirate(16 years old),who pirated games because he was 12 year old who didn't want to bother his parents with buying games since they had financial problems at the time(Dad didn't have a job at time)- If everyone pirates games...then the Devs lose money & if the Devs lose money...then they get shut down & stop making games... that why people buy games so that doesn't happen... I'm not saying piracy isn't justified or bad..I used to be a pirate...hell..I still pirate... I pirate games that I already played on console (360.. PS3 era of games) once I got my PS4...I stopped pirating...started buying games second hand or at the store.. when it was a sale...the reason why I stopped was because my dad opened his car dealership & my big bro got his Master's degree & became an engineer..they knew I loved games so now they would be able to help me with games... mostly my brother (he grew up playing games like me & also pirated games)... again I'm not saying piracy is bad or wrong...I support it...I still pirate anime, movies & series...but not games anymore... unless I want a trip down memory lane... On the Ps3..360 era of games...(Sorry for long message...go to Fitgirl( For Repacks.. more stable then DODI) or IGG games(For ISO)... Pirate Bay... is not always safe to pirate games

I see a lot of people criticising the stealth elements of the game, and whilst I agree they are a limited and dulled into a passive "hidden/exposed" mechanic, I still managed to play the game in a low detection fashion. And sections where you come up against enemies that can see you in darkness are mostly limited to the end game when you're already comfortable with using gadgets, executions, the environment, and your own movement capabilities, and know to know how to use them to bypass this drawback. Though most I've spoken too seem to struggle with the stealth aspects and resort to a run and gun play-style, I myself found that method of play to be much more difficult and clunky, compared to the tried and true slow and steady, one to five enemies eliminated in one go, and being patient enough to learn patrol patterns and plan your actions ahead of execution.
