Should you buy the Glock 43x? My experience over 1000 rounds later

I had a Glock 45 and traded it in for a 43x MOS. Sounds dumb but fr the 43x fits my stubby finger/fat palm hands much better and it's so concealable. 15 rounds in any clothing you can't beat it.

Good review. Before buying my 43X I had a Taurus PT709 Slim, with over 5,500 rounds. It was just as reliable as my Glock 19, but not as accurate. That's why I replaced it with the 43X, now with over 4,200 rounds; zero failures. I've been using the Shield Arms S15 mags for the past 1,000 rounds, also zero issues. I installed Ameriglo i-dot sights, which I love, and replaced the trigger with an Overwatch Precision PolyDAT duty ready trigger. Love it; fun to shoot.

Hyve extensions are what I carry with my shield spare mags. I carry the shield with the 6 round flush mag and a ndz pinky extension and one in the pipe. And usually just one spare mag with 8 rounds. 15 rounds of 40 is barely enough for me so I have another 7 round with hyve plus 1 extension. Typically will carry the shield aiwb with one mag aiwb and a horizontal mag sleeve on my left side about 10 o clock owb.

The 43x + s15 mags is really something special to me. I carried a G19/G23 for the majority of the last two decades. I can shoot the 43x just as fast and accurate as my G19. I just received my gen 2 s15 mags today 5-29-21. They’re great but the base plates are the same as the gen 1’s. TFB TV showed some with new BP’s. I don’t care, just thought it was worth mentioning. There’s a seller on eBay called The Tactical Store that sells slides with optics cut. The slides are done by Zaffiri Precision Glock. Lifetime warranty. Their optics cutout will take the Romeo Zero, RMSC and SMSC RED Dots. Also has front and rear serrations and a lightening cutout to compensate for the light. Sweet slides for $210.00 to $270.00 depending on which one you get. That’s what I put on my 48 to make it a 43X.

Great video 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸 I have the MOS 43x all in all I’m at $1425 building this. I have the Apex trigger, I bought three shield arms magazines on back order, tritium night sights, talon grip like yours. Had to buy the adapter plate for the MOS to fit holosun 507k which I purchased that also, Kydex holster, one more OEM magazine 10rd just something to think about but I built it for me. When you start getting into aftermarket slides and barrels understand you got internals you have to swap out firing pin, extractors, recoil springs and so on. Just a word to the wise if you do go with an aftermarket slide I recommend going with the same brand barrel and internals. If you mix and match you will have failures. When you spend that kind of money make sure you know what your life is worth. You can put $5000 into this gun. But if you have failure to feed or failure to extract. all that money don’t mean nothing. I’ve been shooting firearms for 30 years. Somethings you just learn in time. If I’m working on one firearm. I always have another one on standby I can trust. Once you get it right then it’s ready to carry. 👍🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸 keep up the good work shooter.

Sounds like a nice setup with that holosun. Yeah I had a whole zaffiri precision build that I did. Wasn’t optic ready if it was I probably would have kept it. I had their ported barrel and slide. Apex trigger. Truglo sights.etc then I decided to make my 43x factory and swapped all that over to a p80 build.

All the 43x needs is a good set of night sights and maybe the shield arms 15 round mags, putting 5k into a glock is a waste might as well just buy a nice kimber or something that provides the finer shooting experience.

I first got a G19. The 43x MOS then felt like a toy in my hands. Having said that, I can now seemingly shoot a 43x as well as I can a G19. A 43x can hold the same number of rounds with the shield arms mags. It can pretty much do more or less the same job!

I thought the point of a micro 9 was to make it as small/concealable as possible. so why bulk it up with lights, red dots and extended floorplates. A G19 (or similar size pistol) would be more effective with the add ons. Trying to make concealed handgun do the job of a duty pistol is not a good idea. Getting the skill set to use a deep concealed pistol is more ideal.

I also agree....a GLOCK G-43, G-42, SIG P-365....sure why not! All the "updated" models to these micro compacts don't make any sense at all. You would be better served just carrying your GLOCK G-19/G-23/G-32 or a G-30S, G-27, G-33.

They are a U.S. Government contractor...so no issues or worries. In my 1911 .45 ACP pistols I only buy and use Wilson Combat and Tripp Research magazines which are the best money can buy and run flawless.

I have the 48 mos with a blacklist barrel so I can shoot all types of ammo and +p safely, gen2 s15 mags (no issues so far) hosun 507 k x2 no plate filed the lugs, ameriglo I dot pro's, overwatch precision trigger(shoe only) ,Tyrant arms mag well, hogue grip, Streamlight Trl 7 sub and the werkz M6 holster. I love this setup. Went with the 48 because of the longer slide and barrel.

Well i dont feel like the only one who went crazy changing all kinds of parts before i even shot the gun ha! I also had the apex drop in kit and i had a very bad fitment issues when taking the slide on and off... didnt trust it. Back to stock. Ive learned pretty quick that doing these kind of mods take the reliability right out of glocks... cool video man.

Put 12,000 rounds through mine. Replaced the guts and new barrel and sold it to my son. Still shoots fantastic and he loves it too. Bought a 48 and didn’t like the extra length so I bought a 43x slide with optics cut for red dot and a threaded barrel. The 43x is one of Glocks best. I have 5 S-15 mags too. Romeo Zero red dot will be here in 3 days! Great video! Thanks for sharing!

@@Pler1978 I added a threaded barrel with a small comp...it's as long as the 48 again. LOL. But it's as long as I'd ever want it. I wouldn't have put a threaded barrel on it with the original 48 slide. For some reason, to me, the length of the 43 (X) appeals to me. Even with the comp on it, making it as long as the 48, it still looks better to me for some reason. It shot just fine with the 48 barrel though. So my daughter got my 43, my son got my original 43X, I got the 48, then turned it into a 43X. Don't get me started on the Sig P365 and 365XL! LOL.

I had the same problem with apex. Finally had to take the apex trigger off the rigger bar and install on factory trigger bar. Still using there connector and all. I of course ruined my factory trigger but who cares the gun runs flawlessly now…

I’ve never been a Glock guy until very recently. I’ve carried a p365 and a staccato c2. I recently got the Glock 43x and it’s become my favorite carry pistol. Though the staccato is more fun to shoot nothing is as perfect a carry experience as the 43x.

The only thing I would do to my new 43X is replace mags and mag release to Shield Arms. Just make sure your 43X comes with Ameriglo night sights. Leave everything else alone. Preference only- no MOS on my 43X. My 19 and 23 have MOS. Great, great carry gun!!

I love my 43X. I love it because its a Glock. It works. I love it because it conceals well. I love it because it looks great in my Hawg holster. I love it because the grip is long enough for my big hand. Is it my favorite ccw gun? I wont know that until my walther pps m2 comes in. Oh and I keep EVERYTHING factory on my Glock except for the factory trash sights. I have ameriglo hakathorne sights on mine and talon pro grips. Everything else is factory and will stay that way. I just picked up a 43X MOS but I have a non-MOS 43X so I’m familiar with the platform. My non-MOS has absolutely no failures and about 500 or so rounds through it. My MOS had a ftf on its fourth round but other than that no issues although Its only been to the range that one time. Is that failure to feed common with a new Glock? Or did I just not properly seat the mag when I began firing and it wiggled out a bit to cause the failure? I noticed that it takes a solid push to get a full mag to seat

Other than tritium night sights bone stock GLOCKs don't need anything that doesn't come OEM. I own 30 GLOCK pistols covering most of their lineup dating back to my first Gen 2 G-19 9mm I bought new in 1993 and still have it with over 25k rounds through that one. None of them have had anything added other than Meprolight tritium night sights. Back when you could buy them with factory night sights (and I did often) you didn't even have to do that and they were ready to go straight out of the box.

I have a ets mag I use for the range on my 43 and it’s never jammed or held the slide open so I’d say it’s a reliable back up mag and I heard the steel mag release messes up the regular Glock mags so that’s up to you

I doubt they'll make one now that the MOS version came out. May be worth your while to get a MOS frame from GunBroker.com then turn around and sell you regular 43x frame. Seems like a hassle but that'll probably be your best bet. If recovery tactical had any sense, they'd start making kydex holsters to sell for their rail adapter

I’ve yet to purchase my first handgun and was pretty set on buying the 48. I’ve shot both. By chance I was at my LGS when a couple (yes, just TWO) 43x in black showed up fresh off the UPS. I said nah I’ll wait for the 48. A day later they were gone. I now realize my mistake. If I had seen your video I would have snapped up one of those 43x! I own both the 43x and 48. Both of them I carry at different times. I shoot the 48 better than I do the 43x. I carry the 43x about 60% of the time. Take your time and get what you want. Good luck.

Marcus Russo I’ve had no issues with the hyve extended mag release, backplate or plus 2 baseplate. The base plate looks cool but I’d recommend if your looking for more capacity just getting the shield arms s15 magazine

Sup broski? Who won the olight??? Just left springs road gun club with my mom and ol lady. Mom shot her new 380 m&p bodyguard and did awesome for her first rounds. The ol lady blasted my new g3 and did ok shes a beast on my g2 tho...and me I did some at 15 work on my build made sure my holo sun red dot was zeroed in and my new 2.5 lb cmc trigger is wicked fast she also did awesome with the long gun thats her comfy zone hope we see you soon

I would say go Glock 43x MOS or if you don’t mind something a bit thinner and lighter than a Glock 19, go with the Arex Delta M Gen 2. Maybe the Ruger Max 9 is also worth checking out. Those are all value choices.

Stock Glock sights are not good. Yes, if you had to use them for defensive purposes....they should work. However, they are polymer. If one arm was out of commission and you had to rack the slide off an object, rear sight post might break.

Huncho the 43 or the 43x? The 43 carries extremely well since it’s significantly smaller, but the 43x has a capacity advantage. I’ve thought about picking a 43 up just for the ease of concealment

Huncho yeah well if you’ve been carrying a 17 the 43x will be no problem for you. I love mine. I tried to carry a 17 for a little while but the slide went too far down on my leg and I pinched myself with it a lot

Shots with Cola it’s my first carry gun I wanted to go with something that had a good capacity so I chosen the Glock 17 gen 4 and I love it but it’s not to comfortable as a carry gun I was going to get a Glock 26 but it’s just as wide so the 43x is the next option I’m pretty sure the 43x is comfortable carrying ive been watching a lot of KZbin videos on it a lot of people saying it’s a great carry gun

@@ShotswithCola When you reload, you grab the slide like you’re shooting a slingshot. A better method is to place the place the hand on top of the near part of the slide (thump pointing towards yourself) and pinch between the palm and your four fingers (as opposed to your fingers and your thumb). This requires fewer fine motor skills which is very important in high pressure scenarios and makes it easier to reload when the firearm is close to your body. I just had to break this habit myself. Hope all is well!

@@oregondork I do that when I try to reload quickly. I’m not sure if I put that footage in this video. I practice various different ways, but if I’m trying to be quick I put my thumb on the left side of the slide with my index etc on the right side of the slide. I have been trying to transition to always reloading that way but bad habits are hard to kick.
