However, it seems that the iPhone 14 and iPhone 14 Plus are still readily available which may have you questioning if you should skip the iPhone 14 Pro and settle for an iPhone 14.

Rememer, the construction of the 14 has been greatly improved and simplified over the 13. If the back plate of the 14 is broken, it cost significantly less to repair than the 13. The 14 can be opened from the rear plate! I went from a Motorola Edge Plus to my first iPhone, the iphone 14.

@@duded-s9m The focus is sharp, I may have had the odd out of focus shot, very very rarely, which I’ve pretty much never had in an iPhone in ten years. I think low light is decent, but don’t do much or selfies. The only thing I’d like in the Pro is the zoom/macro lens, but the 48mp lens is useless as it’s a 1 second shutter speed, too slow.

Yeah, upgrading from a 6s myself and though the 14 Pro/Pro Max obviously have the best specs, the >$1k price makes me uneasy and I'm not sure how much I'll take advantage of or care about those extra features compared to the 14. Also think the Dynamic Island is kind of in a bad spot, it ends up intruding more than the notch and will be more districting imo. AppleCare, and repair costs without AC, for the Pro/PM are more expensive. Also think the Pro/PM have a higher chance of being stolen because the Dynamic Island makes them stand out, so I'll be constantly worrying about someone trying to steal it (live in a big, crowded city), while the 14s look similar enough to the 12s and 13s that it's hard to tell at quick glance.

I moved from Android back to Apple after being gone for a few years. Went with the base 14 for a number of reasons. Price being one. Yes it's $200, but I pay monthly and have other expenses I need to keep in check, so the lower the better. Also used that extra money towards a refurbed Apple Watch, I like the 6.1 size and my old S22 Ultra was way too big and heavy. I prefer the lighter model of the 14 much more. Now I would like to have the better camera system, but I only take pics of my pets and that's it. So it's not a huge deal for me. For me, all I needed was the 14. I'm not a power user, don't like big heavy phones, don't care about the island thing, can live with the slightly less powerful camera system, and I basically do no social media. I call and I text. So I'm pretty basic. So it works for me. Maybe I'll go with the pro for the 16 but I'm happy to just have an iPhone again.

excactly why I bought an 14 and I can confirm that everything you said in the video is spot on. I needed a phone which can make photos/recored videos, is responsive, has good build quality and a decent battery life. Aside from the dynamic island and the additional 48mpx camera, everyone who isn't a photographer or a movie maker or an tiktoker or an influencer in any sort(which whom i don't reccomend to buy an iphone pro for their job but a real camera) iphone 14 will suit you just fine.

A 13 Pro is in many cases not just cheaper but better in everything. The weak point of the 14 is, that it’s way to overpriced to be a mid device, everybody can afford. …and has no good feature of a modern smartphone like 120 Hz…so buying an older flagship is always the better choice to save some cash!

@@Wollie1979 It depends. The 14 has a glossy back which helps with grip. If the back was matted it tends to slip a whole lot more, and imagine since it’s heavier, I’m clumsy so for me it was a reason to just get the base 14. I came from an 8 Plus so it wasn’t a bad upgrade, I kept 60Hz which feels smooth to me since I haven’t adapted to 120hz, I got a much better camera, and the display is insane. One thing I loved the most was the display, the higher resolution with OLED… I’m baffled that these are the standard smartphones of today, we’ve come so far. To put it into perspective just imagine the 14 is the iPhone 5 and the 14 Pro is the iPhone 4. This phone completely feels like the 5s and it’s so light it’s insane. Loving this “New” and “Modern” feel, whole different ambient than what I’m used to.

@@aineangeles2648 Well, the 13 Pros are hard to find now anyway as Apple stopped making them once 14 was released and they didn't get the same price discount the other models did where you could still buy them. I think some people were quick to jump on the bandwagon saying the 14 and 13 are nearly identical so the 14 is a rip-off but it's not true when you really compare.

I just swapped a 13 Pro Max for a 14. Not being a professional photographer, not caring about dynamic island, and not being a gamer, it was more than enough for me. I needed something smaller and lighter in my hand than the 13PM (which is a great phone, no complaints, just arthritis made it not an option for me). My phone is for making calls 😲, texting, and a few other apps. So the 14 is just right for me.

Same. Plus it feels a bit too premium, which adds extra anxiety. This is a device we are supposed to carry in our pockets and use all over, yet I'll be constantly worrying about damaging it. If I want to get AppleCare, they charge more for that for the 14 Pros/PMs. I also think because of the Dynamic Island, the 14 Pro and Pro Max stand out more to potential phone thieves whereas it's not possible to tell the difference between the 14, 13, 12, and 11 at quick glance. KZbin reviewers say it looking the same is a negative, but I think it's a positive until Apple can reduce the front camera down to something like a dot or even not visible at all. The DI also intrudes more into the screen and is more distracting.

I tend to adapt to how many cameras my phone has. I went from a Samsung S10 with triple cameras to an iPhone XR, then a Pixel 4a, both only have 1 rear camera. I think if I was phone shopping right now it would consider the 14 Plus. I have an inexpensive 6.7" Android phone as a back up and it's great for reading, social media, and YT.

I came from a iPhone 12 Pro Max and this cutie pie iPhone 14 in Blue is so light and the battery life is AMAZING. I’ve always had the bigger devices and I currently have a iPad mini if I want something bigger yet the iPhone 14 feels so cozy and easy to enjoy not to big and is a powerful device on its own despite its size. The plus is tempted yet pro max I would die for if it was in this rich blue otherwise I’m pretty satisfied coming again from a iPhone 12 Pro Max. Will definitely update if I switch out. If the 14 Pro Max had the lightweight build of the 14 Plus, then I would buy it. Now I’m not sure of what to do. Wait for the 15 Pro, and hope that they cut down the weight of that one. The premium look the added weight brings, isn’t worth it to me. Use lighter materials.

I noticed there are no significant upgrade form iphone 13 to iphone 14, with discounted price now, many suggest to buy iphone 13 than 14, but the noticable difference is 6gb ram compare to 4gb ram. Thanks for the detailed video. I have an iPhone 12 mini, I 'enrolled' in the auto-upgrade program when I got it thinking that I would never have to worry about having a phone that could not handle the most up-to-date apps thus eliminating stress. After much consideration and rethinking the financial implications, etc. I think it is best for me to simply keep this phone until it becomes obsolete as I did with my first iPhone, the 6 Plus. When I traded in my 6 Plus, Apple allowed me $50 for trade in. Currently, my 12 mini is worth $250 trade in. That was a factor in my decision to upgrade now or wait until it becomes obsolete. I hope this Comment makes sense. If anyone sees a valid reason for me to upgrade now, I would be in interested to hear your thoughts.

If you have the budget, why not just upgrade your phone cuz the deal for trade in is not bad for me. AND if you have problems with your 12 mini such as battery not good enough, maybe you wanted a lil bit bigger screen size, you can go for it. But if you are fine with it, then you can just keep using it. Or wait until next year’s model if you think its worth upgrading.

The prices are too close, there needs to be at least a 300 price difference between Standard and Pro models otherwise people are just going to spend the extra 200$ for the Pro phones. That was my thinking anyway, I gave up my 12 mini for a 14 Pro. What I really wanted was 14 mini Pro, the 14 Pro was the closest thing I could come to that. Is IP14+ a good product? In terms, yes. Base model with bigger screen, bigger battery. It should be a success. What is the problem? for 10% more you buy a really new IP14, an IP14Pro. New proc, new cameras, 120 hz screen, a real zoom despite being only 3x. When you consider the huge market that buy IP from providers paying in 24x..... this 99 dolars desapears!

People should buy the iPhone 13 instead of the 14. Maybe then apple will stop selling the same phone with a new number slapped on. Oh, plus you’ll get to keep the SIM card slot on the iPhone 13.

I had iPhone 13 pro before was a heavy phone that’s why I upgraded to regular iPhone 14 in blue I absolutely love it so much lighter than iPhone 13 pro I don’t need all features in pro models anymore

@@okxhieu I opted for the 14 mostly because I gained an extra year of support, but there are some upgrades and my budget would allow it. From what I've read if you want to save some money and get most of the bells and whistles the 13 will do a good job for you.

I’ve still only got a 10 r but I just want to say this, I know a lot of you will laugh at me for being so old but back in the day I used to listen to Walkmans and I swear they had more decent volume than iPhones or android when playing music

No you’re right. My car is 10 years old and still has a CD player. The CD I put in the car to test it when I bought it is still in the car and I played it the other day and the sound quality was still so much better than any phone app hooked up to the Bluetooth

First of all, I hate apple. Ok, now I do plan on buying one for my wife as her Samsung S20 FE back cover came off (yeah, sucks, bad quality on Samsung) and now she wants an iphone, so would it be a good upgrade to just get the regular 14 plus?

I went from Samsung S20 FE to Iphone 14 great phone for my money. I was a huge android samsung person but the quality of phones now suck and Iphone is doing something better.

@@rlev912if you make use of zooms a lot while taking photos then this is a feature you would miss. Telephoto helps you zoom further and gets details of objects/people/buildings that you zoom into.

To be honest, 14 pro design is much more attractive for me, dynamic island is looking great and it will be even cooler in the future, cameras are great but in my country its much more expensive than in the usa or in europa. When I consider price and everything 14 is enough for me and for things that I will be using it. Maybe pro upgrade for me in the future with Iphone 16 or 17. Iphone here I am back againg with you and never ever going on Android again
