I'm actually so glad the bean shaking and cup spill made the cut. Makes me feel better about making coffee at home 😅

Great video George, I bought the Micra a few weeks ago in Grey, it really is stunning. Agree on all of your points. Your puck prep is almost a duplicate of mine, RDT, WDT and Tamp. My only gripe is the cup clearance for some of my cups is tight, I can't get my scales under the cup and portafilter which drives me mad sometimes. I love the steam pressure, getting some incredible milk from it. Definitely try the app for the cleaning, it's so incredibly easy! The Cup heater is insane too, gets so hot!

Yo George, you know that there is an automatic cleaning schedule with in the app? It will then backflush automatically, you just have to activate the pump. Use it on my Linea mini all the time :)

Enjoyed the vid. What grinders did you consider besides the Niche? Did you try and flat burrs?

Thank you so much for this review. I really was undecided between micra or the new profitec move. I really do not see spending so much for a machine for me especially I know I’ll get tired of it no matter how pretty it is.

thanks for watching and good luck with your decision!

From personal experience between my Breville and speaking to a number of baristas and fellow coffee connoisseurs, the grinder is going to be way more important in the final drink. All of the manual functions aside, 99% of folks would not be able to accurately tell which shot came from which machine. You buy this machine because you love the craft and want an art piece, not because it makes better espresso, because in reality it doesn't.

Also on a 5 year BBE run right now and looking to upgrade. Micra would be the dream but unsure if I want to splurge on it :D Thanks for your thoughts on the machine!

put it this way, I don't think you would regret it! :)

Why don't you use the bottomless portafilter? You get more space under it for the cup and scale, and you can see how the extraction is going. I don't know why you need spouts unless you are pouring two cups at once.
@MoreGeorge23 сағат бұрын
very true! however every morning my partner and I have a small black coffee to start the day with half a shot each, so the spout stays on most of the time!

awesome george! can i ask what cup is that?

it’s the Cappuccino (200ml) mug from LoveRamics

I appreciate the long video. Reasons not to like it: proprietary app, no quick way to turn off the steam boiler, price

The pice point of view is a no from me Sage - The Barista Express costs £500 Linea Micra costs £3132 also u will need to buy a grinder for the beans for your new machine. For the home environment your old Sage - Barista Express is a bargain delivering top quality coffee. Does your new cup coffee taste 6 times better with the new machine? Barista express if used right will rival the likes of Starbucks etc.

Starbucks is waste water coffee. It’s not even coffee.

Totally agree on that which is why I mentioned the BE a fair bit in the video. It served me so well daily for 5 + years

I've got the LM Linea Mini for the price of Micra online from Italy. Micra is just too small for me
@MoreGeorge2 күн бұрын
that's an amazing deal! I didn't have the space for a Mini anyway so was "forced" in the Micra decision!

I doubt many of us are willing to sink $6000 in an espresso machine. I can go every day to my local coffee shop and not spend $6000.

two people, 5 times a week, would take like 2-3 years, (5$ per cup)

you’re not wrong! At this level I think it really has to be a passion/hobby/enjoyment on top of just “having a coffee@
@Thetache2 күн бұрын
@@levyshi you still have to buy the beans and speciality beans are not cheap even if you roast your own, the economic argument only works with a cheaper machine, this is a luxury/flex item, it will likely take 10 years plus to even out and probably require expensive maintenance to stretch out the payback even longer.
@robertfalloon2 күн бұрын
@@Thetacheyou're right of course, it will take years to even out cost wise but the convenience of having great coffee when you want it without having to leave the house makes it worth it. I've made over 4,000 cups of coffee with my Oracle Touch + Baratza Sette Wi grinder (expensive, but cheap by comparison to the LM) and just love the convenience. We do still enjoy the social aspects of going to a cafe for a coffee but I like the coffee I make just as much ☕
@Thetache2 күн бұрын
@@robertfalloon Oh don't get me wrong I have a barista express 2 grinders 2 coffee roasters a Hario Switch and no end of paraphernalia to coffee nerd it up at home, I rarely buy from "chain" coffee shops because it is mostly rubbish by comparison, but the Linea machines are very expensive and do not make the difference in coffee quality produced, they are a "showoff" purchase at the price, so I was just making the point the economical argument for buying one does not compute .
@el_daniКүн бұрын
the fact that they can easily shove off 500£ of the price shows us: they earn too much with these machines

@ all the power to you. It‘s a designer piece for sure. I would have bought a Lelit Bianca with this money but apparently does the Micra have very quick heating times.
