If I could ask only one upgrade for the next generation of the FX6, it would be in body audio connectivity. At the very least a 3.5mm Jack. It’s really necessary. Even the FX3, which is much more compact, have XLR inputs in its handle and an additional 3.5mm audio Jack in the body itself. There’s no reason for the FX6 having no audio inputs in-body. Really looking forward for Sony to launch the next FX6 just because of the audio limitations.

Yes. Camera is great. In theory you pay it off in ~20 days of renting it out / using it. If the next version comes out, you have a great B cam, great cam to use to make money to buy the new one, or you can flip it pretty easily. There are plenty of people still using the FS7 and FS5, the cameras don’t become obsolete overnight when a new one comes out. Also, it takes a few years for the market to catch up to new cameras, so the FX6 is just now coming into its prime. Then, there’s that the stats have sort of stagnated. Cable TV isn’t broadcasting much 4K, and most things are still shot in 1080 anyway. The FX6 makes a fantastic 1080 image!

I shoot corporate video. My FX-6 is my A Cam(it’s my workhorse on the tripod). I picked it up last year. My FX-3 is my B Cam for a second angle and/or B-Roll camera handheld and on a gimbal. I just got an FX-30 for a C Cam.

Might be a better choice to go with the FX3 if the price point is too high

The reasons I love this camera can be summarized with many acronyms. XLR + SDI + VND + AF + Dual-ISO. That being said, I can't tell you how many times I've thought about selling it for a Komodo-X. Oh, and the DJI R4D-8K is an insanely under-rated camera as well.
@JS_Leger4 ай бұрын
Haha, same here, and I’m still on the fence... But I’m convinced that if I sell it for the Komodo X, I’ll regret it since it’s very handy for certain projects (events, documentaries, and long recording as concerts, etc...). I'm thinking maybe instead of replacing it with the Red, I should save up to get it in addition. That way, I’d have everything I need: the FX3 + FX6 for low-budget corporate videos /events / long recordings / and documentaries. And also for those moments when extreme low-light filming is required. But If I add the KX to my collection, I’d have the right equipment for better-budget projects: music videos, commercials / corporate videos, short films, etc...

@@JS_Leger Hello, do you feel the Sony FX6 isn't great for films? I'm asking because I am looking to purchase a new camera to elevate the type of work I get. I currently get work as a freelance videographer and editor and I use my Sony a6500. I also work making documentaries and want to get into camera operating for films and narrative projects. Do you feel the Sony FX6 is a good choice? I'm so overwhelmed with the options right now, lol but I need a camera that can do both corporate and narrative well.
@JS_Leger4 ай бұрын
@@hannahbyars8080 Sure, you can use it for short and feature films (and more), but for narrative projects, personally I'd choose a Red or a Blackmagic. If the budget allows, renting an ARRI would be ideal. It all comes down to your budget and what you need in your next camera. For example, the Blackmagic 6K full frame or the new Blackmagic Pyxis (basically the 6K FF with a different body design and better battery life) are excellent options. I used to own the Pocket 6K Pro (before switching to Sony), and I really miss its image quality (it was more "filmic"..) If I had to select one versatile camera, it would be the Blackmagic because it powers up much faster than the Red. It's also suitable for documentaries and delivers beautiful images, perfect for both narratives and commercials. While the FX6 is capable of doing everything, I prefer the image quality from Blackmagic or Red. Some people like the Sony aesthetic, but it looks more "digital" to me (and I hate Prores Raw, it's nowhere as good as Braw or Red Raw). Consider that you can buy an used Ursa 12K/Ursa G2 along with a new Blackmagic 6K FF/Pyxis for the cost of a FX6. Alternatively, you can mix brands, like the Fuji XH2S/Panasonic S5IIX/Sony FX3/C70 (for corporate work) paired with the Blackmagic 6K full frame (for narratives and more). To be honest, I did everything with my Pocket 6K Pro (music videos, corporate, commercials, weddings, short films, documentaries, etc.), and it was my favorite camera! I regret selling it... It wasn’t perfect at all (odd body design, low battery life, cheap plastic, slow rolling shutter,...), but the menu, codecs, price, and image quality were exceptional! My Sony cameras are real workhouses, but I don’t use them with the same passion. It's hard to explain 😅. I rented the Komodo for a music video recently and loved it! However, I wouldn’t use it for documentaries (too slow to start, + black shading), but it’s great for narratives, music videos, commercials, and corporate work. Do you need autofocus? Personally, I don’t use it much because I prefer manual focus 95% of the time, even with my Sony cameras. Also, don’t be overly impressed by the dual ISO at 12800-it’s quite noisy... You need to overexpose by two stops to clean up the blacks. I mostly stick to 800 ISO. It's useful for documentaries and low-budget corporate videos, but I never use 12800 ISO for narratives or commercials. The variable ND is what keeps me from selling this camera - it’s magical! I don't think a perfect camera exists yet (that does everything well); some cameras are simply better suited for specific types of projects. For instance, I love using my FX6 for documentaries (and run'n'gun projects such as events, low budget corporate videos,...), so I'll be holding onto it!

Hi david! I have been struggling to upload HQ videos on instagram for a while now. I do all the sequence settings and export settings exactly in the same format that’s required. I see those crystal clear videos on instagram and I’m always wondering or struggling how to do it. I don’t know if my record settings are wrong with the sony A7C i use. Every time i upload my quality dips even though I chose the high quality instagram settings. Could you please give me some advice please! 🙏

FX6 mark ii? A7siv so far i thought was going to be quadbayer from over 80mp to get 6k as the a7siii is doing over 45mp to have a 12.1mp sensor. It was never your pappys 4k. The low light performance and extra sharp image compared to other cameras with similar or better specs may be more about that, in my opinion, than extra sharpening and nr with camera processing. Sony claims so too but just doesn't put so much weight on it. The a7siv is supposed to have more dynamic range and low light because of this. Add in the demand to keep up with other specs like internal raw, cloud service, new ai chips, the c400 having 3 base isos and the fx6 mark ii is going to be a beast...assuming they actually keep the as7iv a quad bayer, even though that will require over 80mp to get our measly 6k. If they throw out quad Bayer for a more normal stacked bsi sensor or something and do 8k, it will just be another mirroless hybrid with nothing too special about the sensor going on. A7siv may come out later this year? Maybe? By next year, at the same time, when the fx6 mark ii is out, the fx6 may lose a some value. The mark ii won't be cheap. I'd say it could be 7,000-8,000. Maybe they would jack it up more. This will make a 4000 dollar kit out fx6 seem like a value thing.
@shueibdahir4 ай бұрын
That's impossible. An 80mp sensor readout would take sooo much time. Not happening anytime soon. We can barely do 16-24mp now
@errol31844 ай бұрын
A7siii is 12.1x4...almost 45mp if you pull back the color filter array. That's what quadbayer is. To make a 6k quadbayer would require just that...over 80mp to start. Fx3, fx6; zev1, a7siii were never a normal 12.1 mp. It's almost like a hardware binning down to make it so fast while keeping some qualities of such high mp....especially low light. You never wondered why the above cameras were so sharp for the mp count and had so much color punch? 6k quadbayer is the latest rumor, though.

Now with the much better canon c400 and the canon c80 around the fx6 looks really really old now. I would not recommend to buy it.
