i already bought a copper plate for my strix 3080, should i just go for it? i checked on the warranty page and it says that it no longer requires for the warranty seal to be intact (the one that's in one of the screws)

Great question! Be absolutely sure, like 100% sure that it doesn't void warranty. I'd be surprised if it didn't void warranty, but if it doesn't, then I think it's a great thing to do! Especially if you have high memory temps. I majorly stressed the dangers & warranty because as long as you're comfortable with the risks, then the copper will help significantly. Obviously I was comfortable with it lol, but if your temps are in the danger zones I talk about, then I personally would do it for sure.

@@Aim4Kingship thank you very much. Yes, I researched a bit on the warranty seal, as long as there's no physical damage to the components, warranty is still valid. They changed this around late 2018/early 2019, it's in their site so it should be ok. I bought the copper plate without giving it too much thought, got scared 'cause all of the "older" gpus died because of VRAM modules failures so yeah, here I am. I also got some kriticalpads to replace the factory ones but I've been told they're too "hard" and it can make the plate not able to make proper contact, so that's why I've been scared to proceed :P

@@elmovanhelsing7023 I don't know anything about the kritical pads, but in the last video I posted on actually adding the copper plates, I added the thermal pads/paste I like personally to the description :) And I'm going to look into the warranty in more detail now myself! I'd love to learn that I was wrong/mistaken that some or possibly all manufacturers allow you to open the GPU without voiding warranty as long as it's not damaged. So, I appreciate that info because obviously losing warranty is a big negative, so I'd love to learn otherwise :D Thanks for the comments and checking out the video! You rock!

20 W/MK thermal pads replacing the stock pads is generally a great solution, however if you do copper and get the wrong size shims, you're going to have core over heating issues. Also, just because you don't have memory on the back doesn't mean you shouldn't add pads. As long as you have a back plate, adding pads to the back of the memory can help a lot too with mem temps.

Hi! what about HOTSPOT temperature, how important is it? My TUF 3080 has copper plate. OC: 2045mhz / Vram +1000 = Core 74c, Vram 82c, but the HOTSPOT is 95c, ambient is 23c. Should i be worried about this HOTSPOT?
@crowonthepowerlines Жыл бұрын
Hotspot temperature is just the hottest measured point. Each GPU has multiple temperature sensors whose number and placement depend on the manufacturer. That temp is within what the memory is rated for, so it should be fine for long term use. You may experience some temperature limits, thought at those temperatures it is unlikely you would see any measurable effect from the temperature.
