I'm in Cali and have yet to find a mechanic with this knowledge and skill let alone ethics. I absolutely dread taking my Lexus even for an oil change. They use bulk oil and lie saying it's Castrol or Mobil ......They supply cheap filters unless you bring your own in which case they charge the same amount. I'm tempted to drive to Illinois if I ever need anything major.....that's how bad it is here.

The unfortunate thing is many people will skip the needed services even if you're honest about the unneeded services. People will cut out oil changes because nothing seems wrong. I don't work on cars but I'm a physician and patients will ignore procedures and treatments because they don't see the immediate dangers.

Facts. That is how I find my mechanics. Unless it is an extreme emergency in an unknown area I am not taking my vehicle to any random mechanic. I am asking friends and family where they take theirs and who is reliable. Word of mouth is still the best marketing and mechanics like Ahmed will always win out in the end because of customer retention.

Yup, this is normal. It is a combustion chamber. Think about how much gasoline / petrol gets burned in there. A crooked mechanic can sell by showing the video / pictures to a uneducated customer, but a TRUE one will ..well, tell the truth! Good job my brotha! I have previously worked in a customer service business in which being honest with customers was something I had to be careful about concealing from management to avoid jeopardizing my job. Absolutely the biggest problem with many jobs these days. Very hard to do your job. The pressure to keep the employer happy instead of the customer can destroy you mentally so it doesn’t destroy you financially by losing your job. I keep my car at one shop and request my preferred mechanic. I call him personally to let him know I am coming in and he contacts me personally after hours.. it is still unsafe for him to do that but so far the business has kept my patronage.

I have a 2023 Kia Sportage 2.5L dual injection engine. I drive approximately 43 miles to & from work 5 days a week I’m at 30,210 miles in 14 months. On average at 75 mph on highway. I also use Techron Complete Fuel System treatment at every full synthetic oil change at 5000 mile intervals. The dealership suggested I have fuel induction service on my next visit, I wasn’t really feeling that, but now I know it’s a up sale tactic. I’m not taking the bait. I’ve also researched and know dual injection engines typically eliminate carbon build ups. Great review, keep up the Great Work 👍🏾🎯 I’ll continue to follow your channel!

My 2020 RAV4 gets a lot of "around town" driving. Then I put it on the freeway, cruise control on, 70 mph for several miles, then drive it back at the same speed. Not only the combustion chambers, but the PCV system, engine oil, trans fluid and more get good and hot and helps to eliminate the moisture that gets into those fluids. The next time it's driven, it's like a young kid full of energy instead of an old person who can't move well. Also, that very slight tip-in hesitation is gone! The vehicle has "less than" 9000 miles. Not a typo! And yes I'm retired 6 years now but still work on my own vehicles. I may do overkill on preventative maintenance, but the proof is in the vehicles operation. They run great! More important. "You take care of and maintain your vehicle, it'll take care of you!" Thank you for this video. Hope the new building is coming along well!

Depends on if your vehicle is direct injection or port injection. Direct injection gets gross valves around 50k miles. Port injection takes many more miles and hours of run time to get gunk build up on the valves. Problem is that most guys selling the service don't actually know what it's for

You are such an amazing person, especially being so honest with your customers. If I lived close to where you will be opening up your shop I would definitely be bring my Tacoma to get it serviced at your shop. It is too bad that I live about 1,000 miles away. I like your analogy of how a combustion chamber is suppose to look. I think of it as the same way as to looking at the bottom of a skillet. I use a natural gas stove to cook on and the bottom of the skillet over time collects carbon deposits on it and I can still read the manufacturer's name on my skillets and even though those carbon deposits are on the bottom of the skillet it still isn't enough of a build up to bother with the heat transfer needed to cook food on it. If there was a lot of carbon deposits on the bottom a skillet as some point it would interfere with that heat transfer. I really wish there were mechanics like you with honesty and integrity. This is a really informative channel. I'll take your word for it because apart from routine maintenance, I've never done an induction service or cleaned the injectors on my 2001 Sienna XLE. It's clocked 190k+ miles and still runs perfectly

I went for 30 thousands miles service to the delear and they told me to do services unnecessary like; - engine and cabin air filter on 72% - HVAC disinfectant service for no odor on it - Performance restoration service - New wiper blades no need - fuel induction service They asked me for this service $741.00 I left the dealer by doing oil replacement and tires rotation only, because I learned a lot from honest people like you. Hey Big Guy- With your permission, I would like to borrow a phrase from you. The phrase, which you say in the most benevolent manner is " Please don't do that". You mentioned (in a different segment) going to sleep at 2 A.M., and then getting up very early the following morning. "Please don't do that." I will try to be succinct in my explanation. While I was working full time, I was also taking care of my dear Mom. She had serious challenges to her health for six years. My goal during that time was to keep her feeling safe, secure, and relatively happy while we fought the challenges of her illness together . While other family members ran in the opposite direction, I devoted myself to those principles of care. I cut back on sleep, stress management, etc. and have since learned those sacrifices have cost me in terms of health. I can tell how excited you are about the new endeavor, and fully understand how you might consider cutting back on sleep, but if you can find a way, please cut back on something less important; even if it means a delay, or less broadcasts. If possible, please reexamine all activities while prioritizing sleep, and health.

Great video! When I used to be an Rep who drives the highway - all day - every day..I never had any issues with my previous Hondas or Mazdas. Now, that I’m off the road and doing in town short drives and RARELY on the highway I have found it necessary my current 21 Mazda CX5. Dealer recommended it at 32K miles and I was skeptical but did it. I was STUNNED at the difference in both performance and fuel consumption. Nearly immediately I went from 19 mpg in town to 23 mpg in town. Now, I take it on the highway at least once a week and drive at highway speeds. My car likes it and it’s a great excuse to visit my friend who lives 50 miles away. Thank you for your valuable information! ♥️

Thanks for telling us the facts on the injection cleaner service. I have been taken by this a few times. I live in a rural area, so driving short distances is not a problem. My trips are usually 25 miles or more. I use 100% synthetic oil in the engine and change religiously every 5000 miles and live in Florida. Thanks again, I always enjoy your videos, even though I currently don’t own a Toyota vehicle.

In an import shop where I was the service writer, we used BG Induction service. We recommend that cleaning every 25-30,000 miles along with an oil change and a can of 44K EFI cleaner. This method cleaned the injectors, but also cleaning the combustion chamber and induction (air intake and throttle body) areas. City driving and idling DOES add more varnish/sludge to the engine area where as city driving keeps that to a bare minimal. We would suggest for people to taking a 40-60 minute drive on the interstate to heat up the engine and blow out the cobwebs once a month. City miles cut the life of an engine by at least 1/2. I am always get asked by the dealer to get an induction service on all my toyota's and always decline. I run mine on the highways and get on them at times, so now after viewing this, glad I did. I've only watched this video of yours, but I'll be watching more, and sharing your information because your values match my own as a mobile technician. I hate the cloak and daggers of the normal shop experience. All my customers respond very well to the honest experience, and I'm only a year and a half into it, I'm looking at hiring people now because I'm getting overwhelmed from word of mouth alone. Excellent honest video, but that's what I expect from you! If I have to make a short trip, I tend to take the long way home in an effort to avoid the buildup of carbon and moisture in my engine and exhaust. I may burn a little extra fuel, but my vehicles run great.

Another great honest video from you AMD. I was starting to have a problem with my car not wanting to start well on hot restarts when it got to 100,000 miles. I thought maybe one of the fuel injectors was going bad and leaking but instead I had them cleaned and voila, problem solved, the car ran great afterwards. Ironically about 30,000 miles later I was in the same shop and they recommended I get the injectors cleaned. I asked the same one word question you mentioned. "Why?" Their answer was "well based on your mileage, etc" I said "But the car runs great, no thanks" and they didn't push the issue.

That's where the problem is. How honest the mechanics could be. So the conclusion is the only mechanic you can trust is yourself. I have 06 Rx330 starting from new, done all routine maintenance by myself. Also replaced alternator, radiator and finished timing belt service recently, including water pump, idlers, tensioner etc. It's not too hard. And feel confident because I know what I put in.

Amd, I am a DIY mechanic I can do brakes change the oil a host of other things as long as I have the tools things I don’t have or like a spring compressor which I can rent ect…..my father actually worked for the forklift division of Toyota for 40 yr needless to say we’ve been around a lot of Toyota’s …..totally agree with you and actually have learned some great knowledge from you and makes total sense it seems like today all the fuels are top-tier, and there’s a bunch of factors on how you take care of your engine from day one, however what concerns me is the higher ethanol rating fuels and I would assume that the newer models are designed to withstand that..

I'm currently dealing with our regular maintenance on our 2017 QX60 and was quoted about 2500 for the 105K maintenance, which include Fuel Induction Svc and Fuel Injection Svc. You are the man. Just bought a pre owned 2017 Camry SE with 90k miles on it. Oil changes every 5k during its life but I just took it to Toyota for transmission fluid, coolant, and brake fluid. They tried to sell me the induction cleaning which I declined and spark plugs that I will change at 120k miles per your recommendation. Thanks for your honest advice!

I'm replacing a broken intake manifold bolt on a '99 Chrysler 3.3 with 150K miles. Since I'm "in there" and the injectors have to come out anyway... I might as well replace the injector filter baskets and shoot some carb cleaner through the injectors with a $30 pulse cleaner kit. A lot of this type of stuff has to take into account the amount of work involved in taking it apart again if there's a problem down the road. You give some of the best advice on the web with well thought out explanations!

Thankyou, I'm old school DIY, so these newer vehicles I don't know about. My son called and the dealer says he needs an EFI injector cleaning, a top engine system cleaning and a brake fluid exchange. It's a 2021 Toy RAV4 with 28,500 miles. I told him that I've never had a service on any of my vehicles like that. I run good fuel and lucas injector cleaner with almost every fill up. So thank you for explaining better about the modern engines.

Well done thank you. I've dine in twice on my Porsche suggested by my mechanic. I won't do it anymore. When I drive it, I do at least 120 miles round trip on the freeway and drive it aggressively. That should knock out a good size amount of carbon.

It was great not just for checking my pistons and valves, but also for finding/retrieving bolts that I dropped, AND the best usage I had for it so far- checking that the injectors were seated well and not leaking fuel when I started the engine back up, since you can't see the ones in the back when the plenum is installed. Last thing I want is a gas fire on my new (new to me) Highlander, having peace of mind that they aren't leaking when I am driving my family in this car- PRICELESS!

I serviced my 11 GS with about 100K. I did it myself, I ended up changing the tstat and drive belt. Used Denso parts. Did it need it? probably not. For $60, DIY it was peace of mind to me. I know 100% now it will be good for another 10 years. Would those parts have lasted 10more years? Very likely. Many spark plugs don't need replacing at 60K either. Tough call sometimes. You can really go crazy and replace the WP and pulleys too.

My plugs had 130 k and if I had know how good they looked I wouldn't have got the new plugs but as I had the new plugs I went ahead and installed them.

@@rodneybooth4069 My GS says to change the plugs at 60K. Iridium plugs. A set of Denso plugs cost about 40$? when I did it. Now, the thing about maintenance is the part you remove can look perfectly fine. It does not necessarily have to need replacing. They are hedging a plug change against a $2k cat converter on that car, if it should fail. The coolant I removed from my car looked perfectly pink, as good as what I replaced it with.

earned a sub for honesty. just got recommended at Honda for this and they said they recommended every 60k miles. I've owned a VW Golf TDI, Civic, Tacoma (still got it)... and I've never even knew this service existed until today. I have a heavy foot and drive quite a bit in personal life and for work so looks like I don't need to do this - maybe my truck later since I don't drive it very often but when I do I drive the hell out of it since it's a manual.

An hour labor to check the cylinders as opposed to $300+ on doing a “fuel injection cleaning” if it’s not needed is well worth it imo. Plus most shops will put the labor on the inspection towards the job if it’s needed. At least part of it anyways. The Toyota dealership just recommended this service to me. They quoted me $200. I have a 2022 Toyota Prius with 37k miles on it. I got the car on February 1st with 2 miles on it. Glad I found this video I assume my valves are spotless since I drive my car all day everyday. Thanks AMD !!!

Thank you sir. My mom has a 2019 Honda Cr-V with 36k miles. She just took it in for an oil change and they told her she needs the CVT transmission fluid changed and a DGI Induction service. Believe me, they rip men "a new one" as well if they can get away with it and some shops pull a lot of scummy underhanded tactics to do just that. Thankfully not all shops/mechanics do that but to figure out who one can trust vs stay far away from.

My car had about a year of short drives and then 3 years of heavy highway. I got the service because the dealership and the mechanic shop recommended it (along with a brake job). I will say, it did make a difference and I love the way my car is driving now.

I guess I am lucky. We use a father & son shop in The Poconos of Pa . They are like you. No BS , just good old school service and really fair rates. If the vehicle doesn’t need it we don’t do it. I spread the word as much as I can,these men are always busy.
