Wasp grub.... Amazing for chub and Dace on the river..... Painful to collect and your right Andy used to use cimag or ant powder to kill the wasps then dig the grub filled cake 👍

Pellets have spoiled so many good days fishing. . Plus it also causes a lot local tackle shops to shut . As most fisheries say can only have there pellets. Sorry but I think pellets have spoiled fishing.

You are correct. But and here is the but ..there is a time and a place for the bait that does the business....having said that ... worms and casters in the summer in deep water when the carp are very moooody ..big silvers will gey you a good wieght ..it might not be a match winning (world champion wieght ) how ever ..a good wieght ..if you fish correctly and not fish st 13 mtrs ...or 16 mtrs...some times even a waggler at distance on a commercial..will produce .... and its really funny when it does....

Really loving these videos. And on Mr hughe's final point. me and my brother went a couple weeks ago, 4 hour session, a tin of meat, corn and nothing else. we caught over 100lb of carp between us in 3 fish each on the pole in the margin. Very happy for less than £5 on bait.

I only pleasure fish now, and not very often at that, but the bit about the amount of bait, I went to a commercial two weeks ago, had a good day well over 100lb, 7 different species, potting in maggots with a few damp micros to pack them down (cos I'm rubbish at shipping out) after the session, I was at my car, a couple of lads came over and we chatted about what I was doing, in that conversation one of thementioned KZbin vids, and said and I quote "how can you use 2 or 3 pints of maggots" I said I've used 3 today son, the look on he's face 🤣 then I explained about fish numbers, and potting in every cast, its nice to pass on info face to face, well done lads another good vid, being almost 60 now I have memories of everything you mentioned, woodlands hemp and prawns (for one season) had the fish standing on there heads accross to the islands😂 best wishes.

I used to fly fish with my dad when i was young. About 13-14, anyways one week i caught the biggest trout in the lake a 14lb 7oz rainbow on a marabou bloodworm fly. The next week we popped into tackle shop on the site and the owner was telling us how hed sold out 3 times in a week of the marabou bloodworm flys. Said hed made about £200 just off those flies alone 🤣

Best video you've done in a long time that guys. Not that your others arnt brilliant anyway! Just the honesty and insight into baits, feeding and filling it in / bait limits. Very very interesting. Thanks for being so honest and the info shared. Its difficult for some of us to know the right way to go about things and trying a different method / bait / location to fish has always crossed my mind but I've always questioned myself especially if I dont frame and wondered if people look at me and say , "hmmm he's not gonna get anywhere doing that!!" I still stray from the norm when match fishing as i do believe that change is needed to catch. Thanks Andy , Richard and Jaime. Top vid. Keep the coming boys 👍👍👍🎣🎣

I had a septic finger in one match so I wore a rubber glove on one hand. I won the match with 84lb something on the method tight to an island at about 25 yds, the rubber glove was such a pain, it got wrapped around everything, I reckon it cost me another 20lb of fish. Anyway the next week, in car park there were rubber gloves, on the way to the lake, rubber gloves, rubber gloves up a tree, rubber gloves in the water. To the other anglers it was the rubber glove that won the match, nothing to do with hitting the same spot 9 times out of 10 🤣😂

We used to fish shallow with a pile and a matchstick with a float rubber 6 to 10in in the 80s and hammer the roach and Rudd out.

Agree with your thought on baits, have caught on the carp gear in a foot of water with a handful of pellets and meat on the hook. But, also caught on the same water with match gear fishing long, on the method feeder with groundbait and a wafter, depends on the day.

Water Pistols were used to good effect years ago down here at Viaduct. I still use cheese, especially in winter for dobbing, either grated bits or Brie rubbed onto bread before punching. Whizzo purple haze, awesome.

Interesting in discussion on pellets, just back after many years away but 12+ years ago I lived around the corner from Makins near Nuneaton and they were almost totally pellet even then, problem was the fishery pellet was only the Swimstim Green ones due to their sponsorship deal and everytime you fished there it took a day to get the colour out of your hands... My fishing towel never lost its greeny tinge...

Great video on trends 👍🏻 I read the match reports on my local venue and it’s different on every match. People win on different baits weekly sometimes its pellets or maggots then other days meat now the latest trend is paste fishing 🎣 when I fished the matches at tunnel I was told certain baits to use and they didn’t work on the day. I think fishery pellets have spoiled fishing in general and I think the fish get board of them which makes it harder to catch. Keep the videos coming lads 👍🏻🎣👍🏻🎣👍🏻

In a way I sort of, disagree with buying baits to win a match, club fishing on a bream lake(not commercial, this is why I say( "sort of disagree" ) a guy bought a kilo of worm, couple of pints casters, groundbaits, won most matches but was always down on £s as the bait cost out weighed the winnings and nobody else spent that much on bait as was pointless,🤷‍♂️maybe he was just good at it😆🎣👍

I wouldn't say pellets ruined match fishing. I'd blame the massive amount of carp that dominate most match catches. It' still takes a huge amount of skill to win and in no way am i putting down today's great commercial anglers. However, I would rather win a match with 2lb of small roach than 100lb of carp. Just my opinion.

The amount of bait is a massive point to consider. It is crazy that people take so much bait to matches. I fished Todber opena few weeks ago. There were three guys who, suspiciously, drew 3 pegs next to each other. They literally brought a dustbin of maggots with them between the three. What the feck is that all about?

Trends weather its bait or the methods used to catch fish are a minefield it fay's my brain. I don't take any notice of any of it personally I think a lot of it is to get you to spend money. I always fish things I've used before and confident that they will catch me fish.

Just come home from my evening match on my club water, paste wins all the time and one lad is mega on paste and wins a lot where I’m useless on paste. Can’t stand it. I frame and win doing what I do pellet shallow deck and maggot/worm over groundbait short or edge. Everyone fished paste tonight and managed 93lb fishing to my strengths for 2nd again,

What's your thoughts on fisherie own feed pellets???? Yes we all have to buy them if ya want to fish pellet but how different are they from all the big brand (dynamite, sonu, mainline sensas etc....) companies? or is this purely a money making spin for the fisherie your fishing at 🤔🤔
