Very nicely done, well articulated points, and a realistic perspective on the product experience. A small but important correction/clarification on the BMS: It being a dumb (hardware based) BMS isn’t the issue, it’s that it was just designed poorly. The pitfalls of its function are not the nature of non-smart BMS units, they’re the result of design choices that were ill-informed and misguided, leading to things that may become dangerous over the life of the device.

Thank you. This is very concise and as a 6’4 rider with a very similar background (starting with OG pint and currently love my XR but it dies on my 8 mile commute to work) this is pragmatic feedback. It’s hard cutting through the fluff and getting into nuts and bolts with a trademarked industry based on “stoke.” Love the sound of the new top speed and slight redesign of the GT into the GT-S, obviously the price point is a contention… but with the new mandatory haptic buzz and right to repair, these are larger negatives in my mind. Love to see the continual growth of the VESC community and hopefully the BMS gets more refined. I’ll continue lurking until the holiday season for now, thanks again.

great video. ive been a long time rider and didn't realize it was that tough to get into a floatwheel, paying with crypto is an instant no for me. i would love one of these boards but im put off by the initial setup and having to be fairly knowledgeable about the systems of the board. one thing i love about the FM boards are that they are plug and play. I wish FM would have more consumer friendly practices but im glad the boards are getting regulated, it'll keep the sport safer and help prevent a full on ban of onewheels.

Love my ADVPro, for the price the performance can't be beat. A big factor for me is outside of the USA we have to send any Future Motion board back to the only service centre in the world for warranty. Even for out of warranty I can't repair GT/GT-S in my country due to removal of right to repair thanks to board bricking itself if the battery is disconnected the device is disbaled until returned to FM.

It seem a board for handyman ! Little bit scary : pay with crypto, 2 month delay for delivery, need to build yourself the board, geeky setting, need to complain to have new plastic, need to make a fix for water ! It’s a more geek product than a one wheel , a little bit like an android vs apple things. Personally I prefer a smooth experience than this. But I totally understand people who want to hack and repair by themselves the board, seem not for me , I think I will go for a regular GT . Thanks for your video

what do you guys think for a beginner? someone like myself thats ridden a onewheel just enough to be hooked and say, yes this is something I want to have.. a first board.. not to jump railings and do tricks ,but to city ride as a PEV whe nim exploring cities and just dont want to walk.. I do want decent range and a stable tire and a board thats generally not going to nose dive without good reason.. while i want something I can take out of the box and ride (or assemble and ride).. I do like things fixable and to be able to tinker somewhat with.. im intruioged by the ADV.. but also the GT-S is also a compelling board... again something for a NooB.. I have probably 10 miles o0n a pint and thats the extent of my onewheel experience..

Very fair and balanced assessment between OW and FW. People at 200lb+ need to get more power from the dark side. OneWheel platform will never be quite satisfying enough to ride unless you are just a casual rider. EUC is the way for the husky folks.

Oh. My. God. Will EUC people just stop already? We get it. Your PEV is the ultimate expression of personal transportation. It destroys everything else. The only thing stopping it from taking over the world is that no one knows about them, so you MUST post in every single other PEV video about how great they are. Here’s a hint: all you EUC weirdos constantly posting in unrelated videos makes us all want to stay the hell away from you as a community and EUCs in general.

How fast can you go before pushback?
@crashyride
@crashyride Жыл бұрын
When setting up the controller, you can determine where pushback begins. So...realistically as fast the board will carry you before the motor gives out. Practically speaking I see folks making it to the low 20s. I personally get sketched out going more than 18mph. A concrete number will depend on your weight, how charged the board is, tire PSI, terrain you're riding over, etc.
@ShahrozSher-p1l
@ShahrozSher-p1l Жыл бұрын
@@crashyride would it be bad for the motor if you set the pushback to the highest limit tit can go to? I’ve seen tony cruise at 250mph in his vids easily and he’s 160, so Im wondering if an easy 30mph is possible if one is around 130 pounds…
@crashyride
@crashyride Жыл бұрын
@@ShahrozSher-p1l No, it would not be bad for the motor. If you set pushback right at the very edge of the motor's torque, or just past it (so as fast as it can reasonably carry you), it won't hurt the motor, but it might hurt you when the board noses down because the motor can't spin fast enough to keep it level. I'd believe that someone could hit 30mph on a Floatwheel, but that'd be dangerous enough as it is without the BMS issue. The potential voltage sag at such a high duty cycle could trigger the BMS to shut off the board if you've got a bad cell that dips too low. I absolutely don't condone this kind of thing, it has put many many people in the hospital, but if you're going to do it, VESC is the way. You can watch your duty cycle and know how close you're getting to the limits of the board.

Video might be a little harsh, any company that delivers any product product may have issues. Tony has been transparent about the v1 plastics and shipping the new plastics on his own dime. I bought my board new from another member in the community bc they were having family issues and Tony is easy to work with and transferred the warranty to me. Tony took full accountability and been transparent. Just know what you’re buying into, it’s a powerful board, high quality material (minus the tire, but that’s an easy change), it’s a board created by community members and improvements will be made over time. FM on the other hand doesn’t own up to anything, PintX wires getting cut, batteries going dead, boards dying right after warranty and charging arm and leg to fix, foot pad issues, v1 had super tiny sensors, but every product FM improved on the last one. So, I can’t wait to see what else Tony can put together in the future. It’s a great board for the tinkerers, not for those who want a polished app, settings, etc. it’s not there yet, but moving and improving fast.
