Before committing to a graduate degree in engineering, please consider degrees outside of engineering. These would be degrees like business administration, law, computer science, etc. The technical knowledge of an engineering degree goes further than simply the realm of engineering.

100% It's absolutely worth considering other paths as well, specially business related.

I am considering it because my bachelor's, bioengineering didnt open any engineering position for me... now with my masters I hope to expand my network, apply for more internships, delvs much much deepr into mechanical engineering .

I'm in the exact same position. I have one quarter left of my BS in biomedical engineering and didn't do enough while I was in school to gain work/research experience. 100% going to get a masters in ME and actually build my work experience this time.

I have the option to get my MSME in a year after my BS. Not entirely sure what I want to do, but since I’m already graduating a year early for my BS I think I’m going to shoot for it. Thoughts? Thanks for the video!

If you are an international student and you want the Canadian PR (Permanent Residency) should you go for a master's degrees or should you study in a college in order to get a job fast?
@alexisidro
@alexisidro 2 жыл бұрын
Honestly, I'm not sure. I don't live in Canada. In the US, many international students go to Grad school in order to extend their stay, so they can find a job that will sponsor them. And then eventually find residency here. But I don't know all the legal details or how they actually make it work. Not too familiar with that process

For now, I'm a mechanical engineering major and am interested in aerospace engineering. However, I do not want to change majors because I still like the curriculum of mechanical better over aerospace. I am still a long way of graduation, but I was thinking of getting a masters in aerospace engineering. Is this a good path?

It’s a good plan. You could also take aero classes and projects in your senior year and see who you like it.

I am 18 and I’m in the Air Force right now I have my 36 months of free college but I’m not sure what to go into. I’m a mechanic for aircrafts and I was just thinking of getting my bachelors in mechanical engineering and work or Lockheed or Boeing but still get a masters in mechanical I just don’t know how I would balance that

if you want to work for those companies, your experience and your BS will take you a long way, especially with your status as a veteran. If still unsure about a master's after you graduate, then you can go into the field, work, and then after some time (maybe a year or two), re-evaluate your options. One thing for sure is trying to make a decision on a master's degree this early in your career will be very difficult, and your mind might change as you grow and expose yourself to the hands on and theoretical work you will perform. Another thing for sure is your future is bright regardless of the combination of the paths you mentioned above! Let's do this Alex I.

If you get a 10% rating use chapter 31 VR&E with the VA and then use your GI bill to get a total of 84 months tuition and stipend

Some that come to mind; Artificial Intelligence, Machine Learning, Data Science related projects will go a long way. Financial Engineering is also I looked into a little while ago. These are just some fields and options to look into.

Hi. 24years old here. I’m currently in final year of Bachelor Automotive Technology and planning on pursuing further into MS degree in mechanical engineering. I feel like i have the time but should i consider taking other course instead or stick to what i prefer? Would love for you to share your opinion.

If you have the time and money, I would absolutely explore other fields. Now it’s the perfect time while you’re in school, go into subjects that interest you and see what else the world has to offer. For example, one thing I wish I would have done is taking psychology classes! Enjoy the journey and hope you find something that excites you :)

there is scholarship program for masters degree..i am mechanical engineer of 2018 passed out but no work experience..i have time but i dont know how will it benefit me..or what will i do it?....what do you think shall i go for it?
@alexisidro
@alexisidro Жыл бұрын
If it’s a scholarship, and you have the time and don’t know what to do or what path to follow, and are not in a rush to make money, then if it were me, I’d look into it. I’d consider it, check out the fields, and do one that’s interesting. Talk to the advisors to see what they suggest too. Best of luck!

Sir I'm totally lost in mechanical engineering. I'm a graduate in mech engr in Nigeria with an option in production engineering. But I totally lost it seeing lack of experience after school due to no jobs. I want to further my education in Canada. How do I go about it? College or masters. I've got degree in a university. What courses to get me back on track. I desire to work as a production engineer and in oil and gas
@ceasetheday87
@ceasetheday87 Жыл бұрын
If you know you want to work in oil and gas specifically, would a degree in petroleum engineering be worthwhile? The oil and gas industry fluctuates a lot and a degree specifically in that field would be job security. I’m not sure if you mean you graduated undergraduate or graduate in mechanical engineering. I would not suggest a second graduate degree in petroleum engineering.

Masters level knowledge in engineering can be very rough without the fundamental knowledge of the bachelor's. It's certainly doable for some madman, but may be extremely rough to juggle with research or a job.

@ceasetheday87
@ceasetheday87 Жыл бұрын
I think it depends on your interests in mechanical engineering or physics and what you intend to do after completing the degree. The primary purpose of a master’s degree is to specialize. It is worth mentioning mechanical engineering may require licensure while a career physics likely may not.
