I’m prolly going to college but i live in Holland so the highest you pay for college here every year is like 5.000 euro’s and thats the HIGHEST. With loans and scholarships you can bring it down to like 2000 a year and it’s still a lot of money for a college student but it’s good enough for me to pay for myself so that’s why I will be going (probably going to University of Amsterdam or University of Utrecht) Idk why I said all that lol but here ya go

I’m an Arab-American living in Kuwait (its in the middle east). I was born in Oregon but raised in Kuwait for the majority of my life. Will I face a cultural shock if I decided to study in CU Boulder?
@lordhenry27865 жыл бұрын
Kinda? It's a very white campus but there's some diversity. Boulder is a really chill place and everyone is welcoming but it might be a bit different than you're used to.
@fb47795 жыл бұрын
@@lordhenry2786 Excuse me for my ignorance, but are white people in particular accepting of people from different backgrounds? Like will I be isolated from the community because I'm Arab? When I was in New York for a school trip last month, I blended easily with the hispanics. I've met some white students but I didn't blend with them as well as I've did with the hispanic students. In other words, do white people (Boulder in particular) hold any form of prejudice towards Arabs?
@katrinathehurricane63425 жыл бұрын
Underwood 2016 hey, I don’t go to CU but I think I can help answer your question. White people (especially millennials and gen z) are very accepting of other cultures, I’m sure you won’t face discrimination at CU.
@lordhenry27865 жыл бұрын
@@fb4779 I would say that white people are typically less accepting than minority groups, I can't tell you exactly what it's going to be like at cu because I am white, but from what I've seen it's an accepting campus in general, mostly because they are more liberal and a good lot of them are high. The boulder area is kinda a hippie or rich white place, so it's a 50/50 chance depending on what kinds of crowds you hang out with
@fb47795 жыл бұрын
@@lordhenry2786 Thanks for answering my previous question, but I have another one. Is Boulder safe? Like if I'm wearing something expensive, should I be worried of people robbing me? In Kuwait, its totally safe, but when I travel abroad, especially in European countries, I have been robbed and my life has been threatened if I don't give those burglars what they want. Last month in Italy, a group of Africans stole my wallet, pen, and watch. Are these acts common in Colorado (Boulder especially) if I'm wearing or having on me something expensive?

I’m committed to Emerson college in Boston as a journalism major and I will be in a lot of debt. I really think college is the move for me but I’m just scared about paying it off. At this point I think it’s too late to go back, but idk.
@jacksweeney5 жыл бұрын
it’s never too late to take a year off and work/travel!!! go start a blog i dare you🤓
@genesiss4405 жыл бұрын
It’s absolutely never, and I mean ABSOLUTELY NEVER, too late to back out. I went to the University of Iowa for one full year (Freshman year 2017-2018) and trust me, it’s already put me way over my head. I was so ignorant to the idea of money that I let my mom sign up for $30,000 in loans and I signed up for $5,000 of my own loans. So obviously, this makes for a grand total of $35,000 my freshman year (because I was an out of state student). At the end of the 4-5 years I was going to be +$200,00 in debt. And that’s only for my BA!! Which is absolutely insane because I made a deal that I would pay it all back to my mom. It’s absolutely, 100000%, not worth it. The interest has already made both of those loans go up around ~$500-1,000 each. So, I immediately withdrew after my first year and starting going to a CC near me. It’s saved me, thus far, $70,000 that I would have spent at Iowa for my sophomore and junior year. There’s absolutely nothing wrong with going to a CC your first two years and I highly, highly, encourage it. Or even taking a gap year as well. I literally withdrew ONE WEEK before classes started, the loans were cancelled immediately upon withdrawal. Although I will admit that I cried like a baby as I signed up for CC classes. I felt like a failure for not being able to go back or afford it, but it was a blessing in disguise. For any major, especially for a journalism major, I would recommend starting at a CC. It’s nothing to be ashamed about, it’s still a form of amazing education, and you save so much money. Remember, time is indifferent to our journey. There’s no rush to get a 4 year degree done by the age of 21. It may be intimidating because others seem to have their sh*t together, but we’re all taking our own unique route. Best of luck to you love. I hope my story can help you make the best financial decision. I’m rooting for you on your educational journey!!

I am in community college. I'm going to transfer into a university in the next couple of years. Idk if i'll go to boulder - it is a bit of an offset on how high out of state tuition is. But CSU is a possibility for me. In your opinion - what do you think of CSU? Do you think the culture is similar - less party - more party - or just totally different? Plus, what is it like living in colorado entirely? Is it fun? idk im in texas.

@jacksweeney6 жыл бұрын
i think that in order to get in state you have to declare financial independence from your parents and also live here for like a year so that could be kinda hard but it’s def possible!! what i would do is take a gap year and move out here, try to get in-state tuition but also take classes at a community college like CMC or something so that you get most of your gen-ed credits out of the way. then you won’t have to waste hella money on those classes at CU if you don’t end up getting in-state. i hope this helped!! if u have any more questions ask away lol
@InitialSHE6 жыл бұрын
The chances of you getting in-state tuition in your undergrad here at CU are slim to none. If you have even a shadow of a doubt about being able to afford to come here and you're *not* looking to pursue a degree in one of our premier programs (engineering, geosciences, etc.) DO NOT come here. It is not worth the $200k+ debt nor is it worth putting your parents through hell trying to pay for it. It's an incredible school and I absolutely love it here but the college experience here is not EXTREMELY unique. You can and will be just as happy elsewhere. Look into other public state schools and if you have an idea of what you want to pursue, look into schools that have a strong department for what you want to do.
