My youngest daughter was born there. Owned property when the population was 70k. Harmony Rd was the final frontier 😁 and the only business there was HP. Iow, I lived there in the 80s and was forced to Denver for a job. Still here but have always dreamed of going back to the area, I loved it. Retirement soon, maybe then.

Great video…spent some time there last summer. Sad to see the same thing happening there that’s happening where I live in the Texas hill country. Hard for young people to get a start…we’re killing the middle class

Yeah there are a lot of ppl moving into rural towns in TX hill country. Wimberly, dripping springs, Fredericksburg and now Johnson city. Grew up in Hunt and nothing ever really changes out there but now there are new multi million dollar homes popping up frequently.

I just found your channel and I was so excited to see you visited my town, Montrose!! I love it! It’s a perfect small town to raise a family. The people are so friendly and wonderful here. Colorado is such a beautiful state but there’s just something so special about the western slope. ❤

They can grow hops because the climate is similar to areas of eastern Washington state, where they grow the famous "Cascade" hop variety. My grandparents' family lived at Monte Vista, near the southern border, and some of those people grew red potatoes. One of my great uncles was on the Colorado potato board in the 1940s and 50s.

I’ve lived in most of these towns and have been to the rest. Nice video. I live in between Ouray/Ridgway now. I love how Ag/farms/ranch meet the towns/mountain culture here. God bless! Leadville/Lafayette/Erie/Georgetown/Salida/Alamosa are all great, Meeker, Walden, Steamboat Springs and Miashawaka on the Poudre West of Fort Collins is where it’s at!

I found it amusing and ironic that you were listening to "Californiacation" on the radio in the Grand Junction clip...👍

My uncle lived in Colorado Springs! He always told me to go check it out but never got a chance. I live in California. He said it was beautiful there where he lived. He passed now and I wished I did go when he was alive. Maybe one day I will go check it out! I hear it’s expensive now to live there 😮

Actually the worst places to live in Colorado would be the places out on the southern Front Range, like Pueblo and Colorado Springs. The Springs has the worst drivers and roads in the whole state, and quite a lot of crime in its southern half. The far western towns are much more peaceful, and cleaner. People are friendlier there as well. It's in the desert region, but there's no stress in the air like there is on the Front Range. And housing isn't insanely high and scarce like it is in the High Rockies region (i.e. Eagle, Summit, and Pitkin Counties). It is strange they say towns like Montrose are crummy. I went there 3 weeks ago and was surprised how nice everything looked.

My mom went to Mesa when I was little and we lived in Glenwood Springs. Used to go Grand Junction for school supply/clothing shopping. Last time I drove through Colorado I entered from Utah to Dinosaur, took a side highway to Rifle (waved at the Meeker sign as a joke--we used to do swim meets there), then took I-70 through my old hometown, took a nap over night at Grizzly Creek (where we used to take school trips), and the next day visited a fellow Glenwood-raised friend in Aurora before leaving the state. Yes, my Aurora friend has since escaped "the armpit of Colorado". But my favorite route is going with my dad from Oklahoma to the Gunnison to Carbondale, and then visiting Glenwood. One day I would love to return, go to Dotzero, and head north on the highway that loops back to Glenwood but up on a plateau. We used to go camping up there.

I'm delighted to see you passing through my neck of the woods, been living on the Western slope since '98. If you ever come back t through Delta county again detour to go over the Grand Mesa. Sorry DeVries wasn't open when you stopped by, I love buying produce from them and they could have really told you about farming in the area. I also commend you for pronouncing Olathe correctly.
