Water cooling is the PC equivalent of drag racing: it'll be expensive, it's guaranteed to destroy your machine, and you will never see any benefits outside of better benchmark scores. The one and only reason you do it is because you like seeing the number go up and you're willing to buy a lot of upgrades and kill several machines to that end.

Custom loops are for high end hardware, or if you enjoy the process of making the loop. A CHEAP loop is $250 minimum, and on low to mid hardware, there is no performance benefit (since you are more power limited than temp limited). If you want to watercool, not just an AIO, its not terribly difficult, but there are things you need to research for compatibility and reduce corrosion/growth in the loop. I recommend always using a distilled water coolant, with either biocide, or anti-freeze mix depending on your hardware. Anti-freeze mix would be for mixed metal loops, and will slow corrosion (in general you should try to avoid mixed metals in the loop as much as possible). Before building the loop, you want to wash everything out, especially radiators, since flux residue will be inside of them. First wash with tap/vinegar mix, then distilled once it is clean coming out of the rad. Dont use colored/opaque coolant mixes. No matter how good they claim to be, they ALWAYS have issues. With a good distilled coolant mix, your loop can run as long as an AIO can without needing maintenance, although most should get torn down and cleaned each time that a part is changed. But, recommendations like this (just dont do it) is why watercooling is becoming more boutique and expensive, since mainstream users are being scared away from it when its really not as difficult as its made out to be. In the early days, it was much harder to source parts, and you almost needed to shoehorn things together to get a loop going. Now its almost plug and play for more simple loops.

This is exactly how I went with my i7. With the default air cooler I couldn't even finish running a stress test, when the CPU ramped up to 100% the test would shut down in seconds because the temp would skyrocket past it's threshold. I actually watercooled my 12900k for a year and switched back to an aio like 3 months ago to be honest i loved water cooling but i was always flipping gpus off fb marketplace and everytime i did i had to drain my pc and i added a sas card and a thunderbolt card and both times i had to drain my loop but since i was always upgrading or adding or swapping stuff watercooling actually became kind of annoying but watercooling the pc isnt hard its just finding parts that fit your case and satisfy your taste but if you are willing to maintain your pc and you don’t upgrade or swap every few days or so I actually do recommend it but ill recommend checking every day for leaks in the case i used it checked the psu basement and sometimes stains appear its almost obvious but my pc only leaked twice one time because i was stupid and didnt close the drain valve the other time was it leaked slowly and it dripped to the basement but nothing ever died on me

Yeh, my 7950x still be hitting 90s with an aio, atleast it doesnt impact performance when it does but WOOWEE, she runs hot

Ngl there’s a LOT of info to learn and there’s no hand holding. Match metals, get way more pipe than you think you need and fittings, and if you water cool your gpu… pulling off the card is like surgery to me, freaky. But by golly it looks sick and is super quiet 🤤

I went with the Arctic LF2 360 (LF3 wasn’t out yet) and it’s been cooling my i9 10920x really well

For Ryzen 5000+ users with old stock coolers like a Wraith Spire or Prism, if your CPU gets too hot you can look into the PBO2 Curve Optimizer. Most motherboards should have an option in BIOS, but if yours doesn't there is also a third-party utility that allows you to tune it. Set a negative offset starting at -5, run a few Cinebench tests for stability, then change by -5 and repeat until you reach instability, then go back to the last good setting and start incrementing by -1, at a max of -30. As a result, my 5700X3D runs cooler than my 3600 did on a Wraith Prism, and honestly with those adjustments I think a Wraith Stealth could handle it, albeit with an aggressive fan curve.

A thing everyone gets wrong, liquid coolers so not get lower temperatures. They have a hogher thermal capacity which allows for them to take longer to hear up but once they are heated up they do about the same cooling as a air cooler, sometimes less depending on the fans and surface area the hear is being dispersed to.

For inexperienced people aio are perfectly fine if you really want the water cooling for your cpu. But liquid cooling is great but can take time and is pretty expensive for a custom build. You plan it carefully and build it good you have a nice system that will perform well. Just be prepared for the amount of time you'll need to put into it and always make shure of your measurements.

I use my car coolant works alrighty when you use a airpump to power it. That thing is cold and cool can't beat it

AIO's are good for people who don't really understand liquid coolers, or who don't want to fuss with custom loops.

I have 3 x 360mm radiators 1x pump, soft tubing and 12 connections. Would be 14 connections if I cooled the GPU. It ain't that hard. I'd recommend the EK pump over the Corsair as its quieter, but its still a good pump.

I have literally never had to use water cooling in the 25+ years I’ve bern building PCs.

custom loop > aio > aircooler most of time from best to good cooling.

For the people who got triggered - u should watch the video, its the very basic level question ( he mentioned it ) and if the user doesn't know the basics then the chances are he will ruin his setup ( also the liquid setups and loops are not cheap so advice on such things without mentioning the parts and everything is not a good idea - what if they make a rookie mistake and liquid leaks and mess up the setup - who do you think they are going to point fingers at) and then the blame game type of shit in short if u r at basic step just don't go pro with a jump. andddd this is not something which can be explained in 30 sec tik tok or reel or something lyk that.

Sometimes AIOs have tubing that isn't long enough or may not work with a certain case. Just depends on your circumstances.

Imma build an AIO build for my daily pc needs/gaming, and I’ll work on a custom loop project on the side whenever I’m bored or something just to get the hang of it type sht

Since the influencer won't answer the question, you need distilled water with a biocide in it to keep the liquid from growing bacteria. You can add dyes but it can't be food coloring because its for food. Many watercooling brands sell a premix fluid so you can just add that in and call it good.

Yes, totally going to take the complexity of the build and price from lvl 1 to over 9000 for a 2% performance boost if I do everything right. Air coolers are too good these days to mess with this.

In the end He wanted to know which fluid from which manufacturer He should buy because some of them Like Corsair ones grow algee over time....

where i live it could get all the way up to 45 degrees Celsius i'm not sure air coolers are gonna cut it.
