one suggestion to all: before coming to Atlanta, please learn one or more marketable skills so you can begin work asap ie. bartending, waitressing, computers, maybe a medical skill ie. receptionist, pharmacy tech, EMT, retail sales, something to cover the bills while you're launching your acting career, it's a tough road and fin. pressures make it so much harder, have a good car, at least 3 months of rent if possible ie. 3-4k, health ins. is also great, if you're married your spouse can help there -- you're on your own once you leave home, do everything you can ahead of time to put things in your favor-- good luck

Great video idea! For now I will say bc of covid and the way the market is going...learn new skills, excel in them and learn to monetize on them. The internet is a great tool for that!

I already lived in Atlanta. I left because it's also expensive and the only job I could get was at waffle house. Two things I learned. 1 they don't have hosts, there isn't even a manager after 10pm. And 2 the chilling fear of getting robbed at gunpoint in an empty restaurant at 2am.

Hi Leydi! Thank you so much for this it was super helpful! I was thinking of moving to Atlanta in a few months, but was wondering if there are still opportunities for supporting/co-star roles during the pandemic?
@leydimoralesATL4 жыл бұрын
hey there! Production picked back up late September and things are going at full speed. So, I would say yes. I (and friends) have gotten a bunch of stuff. Lots of guest star, more than normal, probably because California is still in lockdown...I really don't know.

great video, I'm an actor and a respiratory therapist here in atlanta as well and you're definitely right when you say that its easier for other ethnicities especially Asian or Indian in terms of getting repped and bookings. I'm going to be doing some videos on my channel about acting as well but its nice to see another actor creating for themselves.

Super helpful info-thank you! You mentioned not only Atlanta, but the Southeast in general-would that be like the Carolinas, FL or New Orleans? Do casting directors in ATL cast out of these other areas?
@leydimoralesATL3 жыл бұрын
i get submitted for those other cities all the time. It gets tricky though when they ask if you can work local, or would be willing to do modified local etc. But to answer your question, yes they do!
@jedramsey14193 жыл бұрын
@@leydimoralesATL ok thanks for the follow up! That's great that you get submitted for those areas as well! I was uncertain if, for example, if I lived in FL or TN if Atlanta CDs could look at me. ATL might just be the best spot to be though

Question! Because of Self-Tape auditions, couldn’t you still send yourself for those big roles in LA & NYU while still getting co-star roles in ATL?
@leydimoralesATL3 жыл бұрын
I only have representation in Atlanta, and don't have a manager. Right now I am trying to book as much co-stars and recurring co stars while doing personal coaching and working on larger roles to go deeper. But once I master that, the next step is to start branching out into the bigger markets and start doing workshops with the CD's in those markets to start getting known out there. I think Self-Tapes are here to stay so it's a great open door for that!

Hi, thank you for this video. Planning to move to Atlanta in a few months 2021. What are the casting sites for finding work? Recommend photographers for headshots. Any type of part time work recommend while pursuing acting in Atlanta? And where to find acting classes
@leydimoralesATL3 жыл бұрын
Hi! It all depends what level you're at in your career. I suggest booking a career consultation with a legit acting coach! Try looking into Drama, Inc (Alex Collins is great!), Nick Conti Professional Actor Studio (with Franco Castan, he's phenomenal). Also Amy Lyndon is great too!

Do you think living in Orlando for trying to work as an actor in Atlanta is doable? I think it’s just around a 5 hour drive.
@leydimoralesATL2 жыл бұрын
ive been debating on moving to Orlando believe it or not (bc I want to be closer to Disney, don't judge me). And bc Atlanta has always been a self tape market, I think it is really doable.

Heyy i'm 19 years old graduating for my AA at the end of this year and I really want to pursue my career in acting elsewhere, due to the opportunities there and film in general. Are there any colleges you recommend that you know will help me work on my craft and take my career to the next level?

You not making sense... u say Apartments are $800,then say stay away from college park. Were else will there be $800 Apartments. Don't tell people there are $800 Apartments in Atlanta because there are not. The cities you mention will require you to have 3jobs for privacy. You can rent someone's room for $800 but not a 1bed room Apartment.

Have those areas always been like that? This video is from sept 2020 but I know last year,2021 & even now, rent has increased everywhere. I was going to ask her if she still thinks it’s still ‘cheap’ now in 2022.
@loudroomreacts2 жыл бұрын
@@aliatv8651 She is just making a video. Apartments haven't been less than $1200 since 2017..It's better you rent a house. Even low-income areas like college park don't have prices like that anymore,before 2020. You have to have 3jobs for privacy or rent your couch out or have a real Career that pays real money.

@@loudroomreacts oh wow 😯 thank you for responding! I’ll def need a roommate! Maybe one of my actor friends here in Dallas would be down to go out there for a couple months & see how things go.

BEFORE the pandemic, you could def find apartments in the marietta, smyna or metro Atlanta area for those prices. However now, of course....I can only pray for a miracle. The housing market has completely shifted in GA for a number of reasons like inflation and the influx of people moving down here. So you are right, I need to update and clarify this video but keep in mind, this was before the 'economic aftermath and impact of the rona.
@leydimoralesATL2 жыл бұрын
@@aliatv8651 its def pricier now bc the housing market is cray cray. But that's how it is everywhere in the country. Plus, everyone is moving down here. I'm going to do an updated version of this. HOWEVER, if you want to compare LA vs Atlanta, Atlanta is still way way way more affordable.
