I bought my 1st a7S3 after waiting 4 years on the pre-order in 2020. I liked it so much, I bought a 2nd, 3rd and 4th from 2021, 2022, 2024. I find that for critical work the a7S3 is unbeatable workhorse. These are used every Saturday for 4 months, recording on each day continuously 4K60 for 8-12 hours non-stop.

Still a GREAT camera for years to come. Lets be honest, people just want the extra bells and whistles that isn’t really “ necessary” and wont make their film much better. No extra features and specs will save anyone…if they suck…they suck lol. Also, people unrealistically wants more stuff that they’re not willing to pay extra for. They want a real cinema camera for the price of an a7siii….really? Lol

You'll never look back! I had the A7iii for about 3 years, it's a learning curve because the cameras are very different but the A7Siii (or any of the new Sony cameras for that matter) are exceptional. There's many videos on the channel for the A7Siii so hope you find them useful!

What outdated is the small operational stuff not the sensor or the spec. For example you can not turn face auto focus on and off after recording. But you can do that with a7iv and forth. You can not set frame rate, video format in quick menu, but you can do that with a7iv and forth. There are many those small things but actually do matter in everyday shooting experience.

I do not think s5II is anything special for wedding filmmaker. We use 60p all the time, s5II is pretty much an apsc camera then. Who need prores or proes raw for wedding? The camera from other brand make sense for wedding is canon r6 mark II. Just my opinon.

Lol, S5II smokes both the R6II & the A7SIII. The only thing they have against the S5II is the autofocus but that's it 🤷♂️

I had lumix g7, lumix gh4 and then a7sII. Never ever going back to a camera with bad autofocus. Autofocus doing 80% of the things what a run-n-gun videographer is looking for so? Everything else (20%) you have - great dynamic range, dual gain iso, 10bit slog3, 4k 120fps, full frame sensor. Shutter angle etc. are of course great features but you don't need them necessarily, you can do it yourself by putting on the right settings. @musadays8083

Still haven’t got one. Still tempted. But I’d love the stabilisation to be better. But then I’d used to have two GH5’s and was a bit shocked switching to Sony and the downgrade in hand held stabilisation. LUMIX stabilisation on the next A7s camera would make it almost perfect.

@@ivct23Sony isn’t updating the a7siii because they want their video line of cameras to be focused the new cinema line (FX30, FX3, FX6). They probably won’t make a a7siv. If you get an s3 then be prepared to be left behind on features from updates. (Already happening right now)

@@DannyBligh the a7s mk2 has been both a great, and incredibly frustrating camera. (I own 12 batteries for it) I use to do a lot of freelance prior to COVID (short films, documentary, reality shoots). the a7s range have some of the best 1080p of any mirrorless camera. due to the fact it downsamples from 4k into 1080p. however the a7s2 4k has issues. the screen dims to unusable dim at day in 4k, and you lose autofocus if you output to an external monitor in 4k. the dynamic range is great on the a7s2 in slog-3. but no 10 bit. I know the a7s2 like the back of my hand. Someone once though a short film I did on it was shot with an Arri Alexa So I think there is an argument to mastering a tool. but the a7s2 has so many shortcomings. I am getting back into freelance. and don't know if I should grab a used a7s3. or wait for Nikon z6 mk3 (which I think will have internal raw video)

@mythic_media4 ай бұрын
i have the a7siii now, but before that in my broker days I opted for the GH5S - which held its own for low light performance. I would compare footage with my friend a7siii vs gh5s shooting twilight videos for real estate. Anyways, the GH5S is super cheap now, and MFT lenses are also affordable. Keep in mind, you'll be lacking autofocus unless you buy NATIVE lumix lenses or maybe an olympus zoom. My advice is save for the sony, however. You won't regret it, and they hold their value like a honda accord if you ever decide to sell it.

It's so simple but you don't understand. In 2020 a7s3 had everything you will need in 2024. Sony were ahead of every other brand if we talk about videography tech up to 4000$ dollars.

@@CHTFilms I agree with this! it is still beatiful camera capable of lots and lots of stuff. my question is, how this camera compares to blackmagic pocket cameras? Iam considering new setup for diving, especially night diving, and I watched recently tons of videos on video performance of a7sIII and Blackmagic, and I just still dont understand if I need better lowlight capability, or more dynamic range, or apple pro res format. I just want to capture 4k60p, in low light, with a lens that have autofocus and enough depth of field,and accurate colours, since my focus is on diving videography for clients. My point is that I dont want to see freakin squares in my final video like it was recorded with some action camera. PLEASE advice anyone..
