Trying to decide between three of Sony’s best full frame mirrorless cameras? We put each to the test - the a7iii, a7siii, and a7iv. All three cameras were put to work in the real world to see how they performed. Each has their strengths and weaknesses. Which one will you choose?

I just bought the A7iii a few months ago and I haven't had this kind of trouble with the autofocus. You can also find a lot of these A7iii used cameras for about 1200-1300 in like new condition on sites like mpb. That extra 600 bucks can go towards another lens or lighting, etc, and the difference in quality for photos and video isn't that big of a deal. If you're on a budget, but you still want to produce professional quality, it's not a bad way to go.

This is true to speak for an average consumer like me who just do photography and videos as a hobby not to the professional level I find A7III the best upgrade I made compared to my A6300 I used to have. (not saying A6300 is bad, it's just the full frame sensor I'm after for) I'll keep my A7III as time passes then just buy new models as they become cheaper in the future.

It depends on picture profile. with Slog autofocus totaly sucks on A7 III when background is brighter, even GH5 works better than A7 III on log profiles. It annoying because not a single youtuber tell about this.

I love the way you took the actual costs & accessories into account in the end. That's something people (including me) tend to overlook, that better features often come with more hidden costs attached. Those V90 memory cards hurt to buy. And even worse if you think you want actually use the external raw recording, that's a whole other huge can of worms I would recommend almost everyone not to open.

It had been a while since I bought a camera and one I added everything into the cart for my a7siii, I was shocked by how much over the cost estimate I was. (Especially those taxes and v90s!)

Love the breakdown. Thank you. Looking to get a Sony video focused but it seems that there are some upgrades coming soon so will stick to my phone for now and see what happens until summer 2024.

Hey Sidney, what focal length do you shoot your talking heads? I want to start using my camera again instead of my iPhone and change up my studio setup. I was also considering swapping out my A7iii for the Siii or IV and something other than a kit lens.

I have the A7III. It's such a great camera but the A7IV has improved in every way possible. I'm a photographer who does videos occasionally (not often tbh) but the fact that the A7IV has better autofocus, slightly higher megapixels for detail while barely being any different to the A7III in terms of low light photography, the better ergonomics and the higher resolution LCD (the LCD on A7III is so bad tbh) and EVF (which is in 120fps now instead of 60 on A7III) Its honestly almost the perfect hybrid camera. Just wish it had better in camera Active stabalization for video and higher resolution LCD like other manufacturers but either way, I will be upgrading soon hopefully. Good video. Thanks

I’ve heard it’s the electricity and can cause issues with it. I haven’t seen a case directly but heard enough warnings online to not want to find out first hand.

HI I currently shoot with an older Xt3 and im looking to upgrade. Im trying to decide between 2 full frame cameras. The new Lumix s5iix or the older Sony A7siii. My use case is video only and im currently focused on realestate videos and some weddings, client work ect. My main concern is for filming real estate in 4k60. What would look better a7siii 4k60 or the lumix s5ii 4k60 cropped? Most high end videographers in the real estate industry use a7siii. Taking everything into account, noise, low light, Dynamic range, image quality ect which is better. My goal to get the best quality 4k 60 video. Thank you

Great Review. I unfortunately am parting ways my Sony A7C tomorrow to put that money towards the A7 IV due to the 10 bit. I mainly do videography.

Sooo...... out of the 300+ film makers & videographers ive followed so far on KZbin ,, (men & womem) you BY FAR are the most simple to understand & follow along with' u dnt rush speaking 100x a sec & have me trying to keep up with what specifications the narrator even means🤦‍♂️ & then u actually put up graphs & boards for the slow people like me 😩 who need to SEE" 👀what you're saying so they can follow along & learn .. evn me being a part musician 🎼🎶🎵 & videographphy not being my 1st-love can appreciate the fact you're a professor or graduate 🎓 cause it really shows! 😭😂😆

I got the A7IV to take on trips when I travel and to take better photos for my channel thumbnails. It's light weight and ability for photos, video, and live streaming make it super versatile

live in a 3rd world country ,all my bank is around 5k ,as a beginner won't dump it on a A7SIII ,wanted to buy A73 , but it's kinda dying and i won't be able to sell it later on as easily if I want to , A7IV it is , thanks your video ,was very informative

Or if you can swing the budget, go Sigma 24-70mm at f2.8. Get a little more for night shooting.

The A7iv total cost is actually closer to $4000. You need v90 cards for it if you want to use all of the video codecs and features.

Comparing two models such as a7iv and outdated a7siii, seems a7iv in 2023 it’s better choice except if you really need 4k 120fps. In my country it cost just 2700usd for A7siii and 2200usd for a7iv.

Overheat and rollingshutter on the A7IV are dealbreakers for me. I dont want 2 be middle of a shoot and the camera shuts down. the idea this might happen is stressful when filming. Als rollingshutter may ruing a important shot. That said i think the a7iv suits more for less professional work or b cam when it comes to video. That aside the a7IV is almost the perfect camera. The compromises made by sony on the a7iv couldve been way better in order to make it perfect. Therefore the i think the a7s3 is more suitable for professionals

Overheat issues ? really ? 🤣 i shot weddings with 40°C and more (104°F and more) in 4K 4.4.2 with my 2 A7IV. No issues at all. (set the shutdown temp on High and open the screen).
