I think people are more willing to pay mark ups today as well because financing today is crazy with how far you can finance now. Back in 00's, the average car was being financed at a 3 year loan. Then a 5 year loan became the norm, and now people are doing 7-8 year financing loans on new cars. They think they are getting a good "deal" because their payments are so low, but don't realize that they are stuck with this car now for 7-8 years. And the depreciation is really hitting the car at a term like that.

Drove one with hondata since 2018 and got tired of it. You will definitely be a better position when you go to upgrade your CTR for another CTR :) because you know 2026 the car will be upgraded again significantly with tech or performance. They did it with the 2020 , 3 years later. MSRP should be pretty easy in 3 years if you know how to network. The funny thing when i owned both CTRs i never had to buy 20" tires , since i was only at 12-15k miles. I drove the shit out of it. Plus i dont have to be title tax.

I was shopping for MK5 Supras right before the pandemic hit in early 2020. One of my local Toyota dealerships had about 8 of them, most had been there for 2 months or longer with no taker. Despite it being the hot, new sports car in town, the dealership was willing to sell one at $2000 under MSRP just to move one of them. Now that same Toyota dealership presells nearly all their Supras between MSRP to 5k over sticker depending on trim and options. It's insane how quickly not just prices changed, but people's willingness to get exploited by dealerships.

I find it sick that the first question I’ve been getting asked is, “What are you prepared to pay over sticker for the vehicle?” I would tell them up front that I can pay $5,000 over sticker. Then, an immediate “You may want to consider a different vehicle. I dont know of anything willing to take a deal that low and a Type R. You could literally resell it for more right after you buy it.” At this point, I’ve reached out to nearly two dozen dealerships and the lowest I’ve come across WAS $3,995 and $5,795 advertised on TrueCar. When they called me, they didn’t honor their price (that they set themselves) and asked for $10k over sticker. I’m kinda over this car. Even if I get it at a good price, I feel like I’d be too afraid to drive it because of how much work it took. These dealers literally sound insulted by my offer. California dealers have easily been the rudest, which is sadly where I live…

I shouldn’t be buying over sticker… don’t be part of the reason the market is the way it is please.
@kayashimz Жыл бұрын
@@marcuskoolrt I’m no longer interested in buying it. I’m facing the reality that I will never get to own this car, or any enthusiast car because there will always be people that will continue to pay absurd markups entitling dealerships to continue doing this. It’s sad, but I have much more important things to spend my hard earned money on.

Thanks for the review Joe! I tried getting one in Tampa 15k over and one in Miami that wanted 25k over! I appreciate the video 🙏

Dealers can ruin a car with stupid mark-ups (over 5k). They put crazy mark-ups on that last thunderbird, cars didn't sell, and it was discontinued. And yes, shame on me for comparing that thunderbird to a type R.
@TORTLESSS Жыл бұрын
40-50 is not a bad price if youre gonna keep it forever, this is probably the last honda type R with how fast they're pushing EV, so it might appreciate too. Also, in due time I think people will appreciate this like the old nsx, it's an amazing handling car and the powerband is wide.

I agree saw a 2023 ctr used with 2k ml sold for 60k
@DekiaryCarter Жыл бұрын
Great point. If this car didn’t hold its value so strongly, the mark up would be a much worse move. I’d be willing to pay 5k over for these. In the mid 50k+ range, the competition heats up too much so I’d have to consider other performance options.

For my 2019 C7 I had to search out-of-state for msrp. Had to pay $3k for cross-country shipping to So. Cal. but this was acceptable.

Now there’s a stop selling due to a Honda service bulletin. That the drivers side seat has weak welds and can come apart. How wonderful.

my local dealer has one sitting in the showroom. I think it's been there for at least 3 weeks. They *only* want $10,000 markup, which is quite "reasonable" compared to the $15,000 or even $20,000 that many Florida Honda dealers are demanding.
@RaitisRides Жыл бұрын
Florida is one of the worst states with the markup.

That's crazy! I don't know many people who have an extra $15-20K extra to throw away. I guess if you have a lot of money it's no big deal, but to the average guy like me, it's just silly.

10k extra just because “reasonable”that’s crazy 😂 no way in hell man it’s not worth it

@@Another_User_Name_ but for people who have that much extra cash, I don't know why they don't just buy a nice and fast BMW M240i or 230i? unless they are really die hard Civic fans? :)

@@RaitisRides I missed the Tintcoat ZLE so much that I needed a manual Camaro back in my life. Albeit the non-1LE version, after the Blackwing I really wanted a smoother ride since I mainly do street driving. Heading down to UTC cars and coffee this weekend Joe…

Hey Joe, how about my situation. I currently have a $500 deposit at my local small volume Toyota dealer in Pennsylvania and I’m been waiting almost 11 months for an allocation for a premium hello six speed manual Toyota GR 86. I finally found the same spec allocation in route to a dealership in New Jersey and I gave him a call at my local dealership I was quoted $34,700 out the door with no accessories at this dealership in Jersey. They quoted me $500 in accessories an additional $700 government tax for New Jersey and increased sales tax because of New Jersey, and a $1500 markup Bringing their grand total up to $38,000 out the door. They stated they cannot make adjustments to the doc and government fees and they also cannot reduce the markup. They also stated they can see all incoming inventory and they are the only one within a 500 mile range that has the spec that I want that is en route or in the build phase.
