@@danielmembrillo6472 great question Daniel! From my experience the fl5 is more refined and feels all around better quality in a lot of ways! It feels so much more solid! The fl5 in my opinion had a better interior and the tech is better!! The head unit doesn’t have lag like the fk8 and has a lot more available options and settings! I like the fact that it is a bit more grown yo looking! The interior is higher quality overall and looks amazing !! Having owned both an fk8 and fl5 I wouldnt want yo go back to the fk8 even though I really love and enjoyed my fk8! The fk8 is an incredible car don’t get me wrong but I have enjoyed my fl5 a bit more! Both great cars and if you can get one that’s not marked up super high I would highly recommend the fl5! Those are just some of my thoughts based on my experience and personal opinion but when it comes down to it they are both excellent cars! I hope this helped a little! I appreciate you asking Daniel! 😀

@Bill Lyle: I owned a 2020 10th Gen Si from Sept 20 until last month. It's a very nice car, but it just doesn't have enough power and torque in 1st and 2nd gear. Once the turbo kicks in in 3rd and 4th gear, it is actually pretty quick, for the kind of car that it is. Great passing power, and quite fun. But I found 1st and 2nd gear kind of sad. It was a great mountain road car. I drove it on the mountain roads north of LA quite a bit while I had it. It was easy to drive fast on those roads. Also, mountain roads with tight turns are where the second gear in that car finally made sense to me. It was superb. However, the enhanced (louder) fake engine noise in sport mode was so annoying in second gear, that I rarely used sport mode, even on tight mountain roads. The regular mode handled just as well, and was more enjoyably compliant. Sport mode was just stiffer and louder. As for me, if I were going to buy this kind of car again, I would much rather pay for an Elantra N. Way more power and torque, and just seems like it would be a lot more fun to drive, as fun cars go. The 10th Gen Si was nice, but kind of remote. Don't know about the 11th Gen Si. I find my 2013 Accord Sport 6MT is a more involving mountain road car, and actually more fun. And that's without it even having a limited-slip differential. It requires more work, more corrections while driving, but that's part of why it is more fun and involving.

Just add a $600 Hondata Flashpro plugin unit and add 45hp and 50flb to an SI without any additional engine upgrades. Got one for my 2017 SI and it was fantastic. Starts the car in sport mode by default and a bunch more things, kills rev hang, can remove the rev limiter as well as speed limiter if desired.

Amazing car. We are all very fortunate Honda even makes it, not to mention the other sport cars from other manufacturers (thinking Toyobaru, Corolla GR4, of course the GTI though it needs actual buttons). Ahem! What would it look like as a coupe? Freaking amazing I guarantee! Just too big and long etc, weird styling overall, better than previous gen of course. But I'm Gen X and own a Veloster N with performance package so of course I'm gonna say the CTR's too pricey. So meet me at the autocross course if you feel hurt lol

For what it’s worth, I believe the wing is black to reduce glare that can affect the rear view visibility? But I suppose, it can at least be 2-tone, where the top side is body color and bottom is black.

I agree with Todd that as a single car solution, this would be fantastic. But if you've got the ability to have more than one car I think there are better choices to go with for a more dedicated sports car and a daily driver.

I assumed that, but looking at c&ds lightning lap times, the 2023 is quite an improvement; if you want a new car for the type r's price, you arent exactly spoiled for choice these days for faster lap times in stock form. You seem limited to camaros. They dont even make the pp2 mustang GT anymore. Obviously you could buy a new gt or plenty of other cars and upgrade it yourself for far cheaper than a new type r, but stock you dont have that many options for lap times, unless you buy used.

@@mihan5660 I didn't even mention Camaros, nor was I talking about lap times. I've no doubt the new Type R would do great on a track, but that isn't the end all/be all. I'm talking about getting a more dedicated sports car. If I have the ability to have two cars, I'd be looking more for something that handles the daily chores better (more features, more comfortable ride, etc.), and something that would be a more dedicated sports car (maybe something like an MX-5). Notice that in both cases I'm not talking about outright performance.

My issue is with this car is its simply huge, it's nothing like the hot hatch form factor. A long, wide FWD car just isn't interesting for me, the low ground clearance and long wheel base will scrape a lot of places in the city. Its like a 15 year old Accord in size. It does seem like a weapon though, wow. Corolla GR might be a blunter tool with a poor interior but it's sized perfectly.

The Type R is expensive compared to the lesser models. They've always been that way. The Integra Type R was expensive compared to the GSR. Other than most of the interior, almost the entire car has been changed in some capacity. Is it an expensive Civic? Yes. But it is beyond what a modified Si can do at that price with a manufacturer warranty.

I'm a car salesman. I got a phone call and my buddy I use to work with got me to #1 on the Type R list, I had it for about a week now. my first little test drive- not even going above 3k RPM- put a giant grin on my face, made me giggle like a little kid. The Shifter is amazing, the rev hang is almost non existent, the rev match is perfect, and the clutch feels sooooo good. This is ultimate refinement. Looks amazing in person, and my boost blue attracts a lot of attention. The red seats/seatbelts, with the red interior is so special. Knowing that your engine is designed only for your vehicle, its a whole package. Coming from a A90 Supra, to a C6 Vette- and my 23 BRZ that I had for 2 months and had to sell it for the Type R- the FL5 Type R is a beautiful machine- and I hope to keep mine for a very long time.

One could add a turbo kit to the Subaru RS hatch and have more fun than in the Civic Type R for almost half the price of the dealer inflated Type R. It would have more headroom, an automatic transmission, and all wheel drive!!!!! An Alfa Tonale Veloce PHEV has as much sportiness, equal torque and adjustable suspension, more room in the back, all wheel drive, muuuch better looks, interior, visibility, more quiet interior and much much better gas mileage. Plus, the resale on the Alfa will be garbage next year and a steal!!!!!!! Honda can screw themselves with the dealer markups.

I think the FL5 CTR is a really good car…for $45k. Anything more, it’s a “see ya later folks” and a wave goodbye for me. I will gladly go pick up a way funner daily car, aka GT350, Camaro SS, Camaro Z28, M3/4, M2, RS3, etc.! Just because I found one guy to buy my $1 bottle of water for $20, doesn’t mean bottles of water are now “worth” $20. No, its still worth $1. I just got LUCKY, and was patient enough to wait for that “one guy” to purchase it for that price. “I know what I got” has become super trendy ever since COVID happened. The market changed because our government f*>#*ed us in the a##, and that’s why vehicles started rising in price, not because they’re “worth a $10-20k+” markup! People got bored as they were forced to sit in their houses, and with boredom came impulse buying, and with impulse buying came the impulse to overpay for EVERYTHING! The FL5 CTR is worth $45k. Nothing more.

@@phodacbitch Like you, I much prefer the FL5; the FK8's over-styling never grew on me. But I think people should stop looking at them as competition, and instead as options. Everyone's got their own taste, I'm just glad Honda gave us such a drastic change in aesthetics despite them being pretty much the same car underneath. It would have been so easy for them to leave the unibody mostly as-is and just change up the bumpers, lights, and hood.

Its 2023, and why is Honda still building a 300+ hp car on a FWD? There is no amount of technology or engineering to compensate for that. Its just lazy if you ask me. And the price is close to $50k...for a Civic....no thanks Honda.

I don’t care if it’s the best FWD car ever. Wheel hop and torque steer kills this car. Needs to be AWD
