I remember the PvP in this game is absolutely nuts early game. I walked into a fight 2 of my neighbors were having, picked a side, and just started blasting. One of the few times I have ever enjoyed PvP on Wildcard's games.

I reinstall this game about once a year. Everytime I run into some sort of game breaking bug in single player/coop and will uninstall. Very frustrating after putting time into it just to loose your ship because some grid switch glitch that has been in the game since the start.

It's a game I'd love to get back into. But after making a small village myself, and having my Xbox save file corrupted to the point the game outright dashboarded every time I loaded in, I haven't really played. Was always a gamble as to whether I'd get stuff done or suddenly lose the last hour of progress to a crash

Fair point if you suffer from crashes on a game. I know it was bad in the past. I feel the game is much more stable now especially on PC. Only had 1 crash in about 200 hours of gameplay this season.

2135 hours on this game. Although it's terribly flawed, it holds a small place in my heart. I always was the company chef/doctor and loved sailing my brig around the map selling my cooked goods to other companies. Even grew a small reputation on the official servers when the game first launched. I really want to play the game again but have no one to play with. If I could get into a small company of players again, I would reinstall this game in a heartbeat.

My friends and I had an absolute blast with this game. If you have a group that can be dedicated to it, its a lot of fun. Solo is far more of a grind.

No chance. The game did not get even a portion of the money and fame ark did. And to make it worse, they destroyed players trust at the very beginning of development. I remember when for almost one year there were no updates beside tiny fix patches. And they started adding automation stuff that made a large portion of the game obsolete. Then they almost nerfed it to halt. And wipes. They had x20 times wipes compared to ark. No U5, there is no money and there should not be any hope left.

I come back once in a while. Official is ok and i went to private as well for a bit but After being on gaming evolved and witnessing the admin abuse. And the zone time on there i found better performance on Nightdragons server. But i went back to official because i wanted to play atlas and not someones version of it with a million mods lagging the game out.

I've never been able to successfully use a submarine in a single-player game. There's no seat for me to pilot it, and even if I met all the requirements offered online, I still can't use it.

This was the best game ever made, circa season 3 & season 4. The survival / crafting was good. The base building was good. The ships were good. The freeports were good. The economy was decent enough. The claim mechanics were good. The pvp was good. The best part was it was simply enjoyable to live in the world. All went downhill after that though.

Btw, that was the FIRST team that did all or most of that. It is almost certain they went to work on next ark game. And what replaced them at Atlas was "at home dev team." Everything was worse, poorer, and game ruining.

@@Shineinpoverty Yes, well known about the dev team change over. However, I doubt it has anything to do with "at home". Developers tend to perform much better when not distracted with office culture or commutes. How you end up with bad devs is a very complex topic (I interview "developers" for a living).

@draxgaming I played ark at launch and loved it. I sat through all the lag, and the trash talk up until they did the first wipe then ended up playing ark. I have recently started skull and bones and Im really enjoying the game, but something about atlas is calling to me. Do you feel that the server that you are on will be active enough to play the game?

Its less active than it was with so many other top games avaialble atm, still has a dedicated player base though, and admins for the server that are online often. Plenty of helpful people on there too, and I've seen a good turnover of new plyers on the server. It's updated regularly unlike the main game, and is still the flagship server for the gaming evolved group, who also do Ark and Conan severs.

Yes the private servers are seperate, and most are even hosted by the guys that run them so they will keep going as long as people support them. I really haven't been on a bad server, they all seem really friendly to new players especially Gaming Evolved.

Played this game for a while. Event rented a small server to play with a friend together. Kept losing all our things when changing grids with ship. Uninstalled. Gave it a try not long ago in single player, just to get some diversity. First thing i encounter is a giant shark standing as a tree in the beach. Game still felt like it was pre-release and i don't think much has changed. And it's sad because there are so many things that attract me to this game, but the game itself makes it unplayable.

Yeah I liked Joe's server but one big problem keeps me away and that is the mods I can't stand the slow loading time and when needing an update it is horrendous like idk anywhere from 20 minutes plus up to about an hour. It is also a paid service so your not getting a good island unless you pay or if someone let's you build on their island.So for me I don't like the loading of having the klinger mod I don't use it in my own game I only have a stacking mod and I like the Ark dino mod and then I edit the numbers for my near perfect gameplay.

I was the guy who ever started with the harbour runs. The first and second year it was out it was absolutely epic with tribe fights both on land and sea. I have so many good stories and memories from this game but lately when I tried it I foud it attrotious. Almost dead grids with 1, 2 or max 7 players on official. Plus they have lots of bad rng loot, too much work rearming to get nothing back. The new monuments with cursed stuff and one special stone node that everyone camps on the entire map and the statues do absolutely nothing plus the pyramid that you grind for, for weeks is useless. They implement totally useless stuff to grind for. The modular ships were cool but totally out of balance. They keep nerfing the maps that can take you entire day to go and prepare for and do. Bigger tribes always progress too fast, annihalate the small tribes, push the small players out and when it's all dead then they also leave. I really wish they put love into this but I think this ship has sailed. Just shut it down and go put energy on something you are passionate about. (talking to the devs)

the idea of the game sounds fkn amazing. i played it a bit when not playing ark and it was fun ... my goal was deap sea scavenging and whale hunting ... i didnt like that you can kinda cheat the game... ppl just put a ton of points into oxygen then didnt need the diving suit and stuff, and would catch whales some hacky way, i was trying to do it legit. im building a new pc to run ark asen in ultra easily and would like to give this game a go again. I'd be solo so not sure if its even worth the try. but still...this game was a bold idea...almost like Star Citizen on the ocean.

The official servers wipe fairly often. The unoffical ones normally wipe when they absolutely have too, this is definitely the case wipe the gaming evolved server.

Atlas being marketed as a pirate game was THE mistake. It was never that, and couldn't ever be. At the point where everyone is a "pirate", what does it even matter? It's a survival adventure game with great ship building and sailing. I put some 2k hours on it, and enjoyed it a lot, both single player and RP servers. Light RP PVE servers with weekly events really made it shine, even with the forever lingering clunk. I don't recall power islands and the Kraken being possible in SP back then, without some absurdly absurd grinding, zombie levels of resolve or console spawning, but if they are now, this may be the ultimate survival adventure at sea. Hopefully, treasure maps have been tweaked to be doable solo? Some were impossible even with tons of preparation, followers and tons of cheese. And those pirate settlements used to be buggy to shit and very unrewarding to clear, hope that's been fixed. An update to UE5 would be stellar, but it might never happen.

Can easily do even Mythical treasure maps solo. On gaming evolved we use either a swivel turret with grapeshot and billboards with signposts to box the damned soldiers in, or you can use good tames. (Gaming Evolved allows you to tame higher levels) On official it is normally the swivel turret method if you can freely build on the map island.

This game was great at launch, but 13+ wipes in 5 years and constantly trying to change the game design just killed the game... They failed every steps, launch was a fail they lost the hype players, then they failed keeping the "real player base" by wiping their progresssion every two mounths, then they finaly lost the hardcore by changing gamedesign of the game. Result nobody plays it anymore when it's actually a pretty cool game... Will alway remember at game launch, i was a perot breeder selling the iconic pirate animal accros the seas in my little DIY sloop, bringing exotic animals and ressources from accross the server (some of my trips where 9 hours of navigations in overpopulated and dangerous free pvp seas). Never had such a sea expedition experience in a video game, was awsome !

There are NO great pirate games so far, and this has potential. I think they need a 75% discount to offer you and others to promote the game. I have so many games to play that I don't buy many new ones today, but I would pay a couple of bucks to give this one a try!

I love Atlas. Gaming Evolved is too heavily modded for my liking. But they have plenty of other servers. DSRP launches today so will be hooked for a few months. Be warned that Gaming evolved can be a money pit. You can play for free too.

Lack of development, lack of punishment for those who abuse / hack / exploit, lack of population, Play this game, HELL No. There isn't an aspect of this game i've not taken part in from Breeding in Freeport to massive Fleet Battles. You can invest 100's of hours into building your character / base / Ship via blue prints. Only to loose all to bugs, abusers, ToS violators. There is no reason to spend money on this game every. If you haven't got it already, you don't need it.
