@@bubbles0904 Been raiding in gw2 for years. what sucks about it? Happy to answer any questions. I've raided in ffxiv and gw2 and gw2 blows ffxiv out of the water. FFXIV hasn't had a good raid since Alexander, and even that, debatable. Yes, in gw2 there are several roles outside of the holy trinity but each raid party consists of 10 people, 6 of which are pure dps. The other 4 are made up of 2 healers, and each healer provides an alacrity or a quickness buff, and then another hybrid dps to pick up the remaining buff. Each fight also has special roles. For example, hand kite in deimos or lamp in Q1. it's not that complicated but its different and non generic.

You didn't mention the reset after raid wipes. No corpse runs, no waiting for CDs, just straight back in at the start of the fight and ready to go, which is great. The crafting is fabulous, with a real element of progging towards making high quality gear. The rotation I used to make Classical stuff didn't work for the Riniscita, so I had to figure out a new one - love it! Also the crafted gear isn't just relevant, it's mandatory in order to meet the min ilvl requirements of new raid tiers - and if you're not into raiding it's all you need to clear the other content.

The job system used to be a lot more complex when ARR first launched. Things like jobs having both a main and secondary class you had to level before it could be unlocked. Skill points that you could assign yourself to have custom stats. Jobs having unique role skills that made certain jobs far better than others. After Heavensward they realized players were forced into certain jobs and builds to be able to do endgame content which made endgame very unpopular among casual players. It's taken a few years but they have a system now that works for everyone.

I think one big thing according PvP in FFXIV is, there isn't a good story reason for it to exist. A big overarching theme of the MSQ and many of the side stories is actually about bringing people together and avoiding conflict. So PvP can only exist as some type of friendly competition or contests. Ok, there are the 3 grand companies but in recent years you don't even play for yours anymore (you get sorted into a random company at the start of each battleground p.e. to prevent the absolute domination of one)

The character customization isn't as complex as BDO, but Jesus Christ, I only found out when I started playing this game how incredibly diverse you can make your character when you factor in glam. Glamour and your character's appearance are synergistic in FFXIV on a level I've never experienced, no joke. I have hairstyles that I wear with different glams, tattoos I wear with certain glams, and I've even rerolled my toon just so I could change my eye color because it didn't work as well with a look I put together. If you want to look like Shrek, you roll a Roe and go to town. If you want to be a miniature golden chicken, you roll a Lala. I've seen everything from badass space marines, to miniature elephants, to angels, to demons, to fast food employees, and everything in-between in this game. Ever seen the Oasis from Ready Player One? Go to Limsa and I promise that's the closest thing I've seen a game get to making that a reality. You can be ANYTHING you want if you have the creativity. Final Fashion XIV, for real.✌ 😅

For PvP you just have to do them in proper days in peak hours - then there's no really waiting too much. And for Hidden Gorge, it's good to use some pvp discords to check the schedules for fights. Otherwise you may wait long, but it never really happened too much for me. Good video anyway. Cheers!

Great video! Just something to keep in mind, in terms of gearing, 24-man raids is a great way to catch up to current endgame, not as close to savage raiders but close enough to be ready for future contents. PVP wise, after their revamped in Endwalker is super fun. Each job is simplified but retain their identity, also comes with their own unique limit break that can easily turn tides In the new gamemode which is similar to pushing payloads. Keep up the awesome work!

you also get tokens (which can be got in big amount daily thanks to roulettes instead of using it to lvl), content patches dungeons, normal raid gear and relic weapon, no upgrades yet but after hildibrand quests it is basicly free ilvl 615 so better then normal second raid

I recommend starting as a dps..., its easier to transition from dps to tank than the other way around (even if tanking has some different awareness, like boss placement) ... seen many, used too tanking and get too comfortable with tanking, that they don't bother to really try or learn a dps (aside of dungeons), since dps need more commitment earlier to learn and master the rotations (if you start as a dps, you have more time to master it,.. later you level them up so fast, mastering them will feel more tedious, ... while with the 1st class, you have a full MSQ to master it)

Great video over all, although I would disagree with some aspects of it though: Talent complexity is a fallacy as there is only one meta spec you are forced to spec into if you want to get anywhere. In most cases becoming more of an annoyance than anything else. Gearing at end game can be done through alliance raids, hunt trains for upgrade mats "past mid patches", augmented crafted gear or savage. Obtaining the best gear makes the content go faster without ruining the experience for new or under geared players. Casuals can upgrade the tombstone gear to savage item level with some parts having worse sub stats but the same core stats. I find pvp is great. Mainly because I can't wipe my ass with my opponents simply because I am higher level or more geared. Fun fact back in ARR you used to gain pvp power with pvp ranks and you could buy pvp gear, this meant whoever been pvping the longest always won. Which killed pvp for a long time. I never had long pvp ques in Aether unless you mean frontlines at 6 am or something? Even then the CC ques are always a few mins long at most. Sure you get less abilities in pvp but how you use those abilities is what count. You can see the massive difference between a high ranked player and a low rank/ new player. Frontlines on the other hand is a mix bag since most people just do it once a day for the experience bonus. Sometimes you get incredibly intense matches, sometimes you get a one sided stomp.

What DC are you in? In Crystal I get pretty much always insta queues for PvP. The exception is Rival Wings, but for other things only at really very odd hours I get queues of about 10 minutes. Typically it's 30 seconds tops

I really enjoy the game, been playing for couple hundred hours now. The thing that bothers me the most though is dead open world. There are so many beautiful locations and they are awfully empty, you rarely meet a single person because there's simply nothing to do. I don't count FATES as content because it's dead as well so the only thing to do is S rank hunting. Most gameplay happens through duty/party finder and people just afk in main towns. A game with one of the biggest player bases feels so dead at the same time.

More in the story vein as a con. First time playing FF14 you HAVE to do the story. It is very linear in its unlocks. A lot of unlocks ar etied to Main Story progression. A lot of extra side systems are also... Main Story. Chocobo? Main Story. Glamour? Main Story. Dyeing clothing? Main Story. With this in mind some of the big unlocks for more systems happen at Main Story 15, 30, and every expansion cap. So when pointed out in the Video that Main Story is a huge part. Its loosely forgetting some of these. Even pvp is unlocked technically Main Story. (Need to join a Grand Company which is done main story then hit level 30.) Not saying it isn't worth the time and journey. Just most people that have this unlocked forget how much extra is tied to the Main Story pregression. So if you're more to a pick your own adventure and go type MMORPG FF14 has the horizon needs to be unlocked first, that's all.

I am a living proof or an exception to that rule. I joined during ARR and I skipped stories for 6 years in FF14. I was in it for raid and I got that from a game. But even a story skipper that I was, you still pick up few details from the story. And depending on who you are, you may break the mold and go back and replay the MSQ.

Pretty sure OCE servers came out last year year! Getting to endgame you gotta get through the entire story, can power through in a few weeks If it’s all you do - took me months though, as I did crafting, side content, played old content along the way. Best gear is in savage raids, which is 8man content, but can get decent gear without it

If you get into FFXIV, now, or at any time in the future, do realize the biggest hurdle to overcome: quests. The way the developers designed this game is to unlock content by doing quests. In itself, this is not anything out-of-the-ordinary, but Square Enix has decided to take this many steps further. First, there is the Main Story Questline (MSQ). This content is a basically a requirement to access most game content. Worse yet, Square Enix thinks their storytelling is SO IMPORTANT that they require the storyline be done for the prior content to be able to access the current content. This means you will have to trudge through the ENTIRE STORY just to access content your friends/guildies are currently doing. This is, at a minimum, weeks of game play that you must endure to be able to play end game content, and even if you reach max level before you finish the MSQ (you will), you still need to finish the MSQ to access important content at max level. Also, this content is often times single-player only. This means your friends/guildies can rarely help you, or even accompany you on these quests. Even after finishing the MSQ, will need to go back and finish important quest lines (indicated in game by the quest bubble over the NPC's head in blue). Some of these quests unlock further content (small group and large group dungeons) the MSQ did not unlock. Unfortunately, these quests are often times stacked behind other questlines. This means you will often times find yourself doing 2 or 3 or 4 other quests chains to get access to the quest chain you want, and figuring out how/where to unlock quests to access quests will sharpen your Google-fu skills.

I played WoW since 2005 and just quit earlier this year, with nothing to fill the void I decided to give FF a year of my life. I went and bought the complete edition PC download version. I have given up on this game as the status displays "awaiting pickup" for a PC download version. I've had to log into my account on different websites, mogg station, final fantasy store site, and one other to send a help request. This game is different in how you have to test your patience in linking a bought product to your account on different websites instead the simple, Thank you click on this button to start the download and install. I'll retry in a week when I'm less hateful, and maybe will have a response to my help request. Why does it link me to the UK store every time I go to the store?

I don't mind FFXIV PVP because I never much cared for WoW PVP either. Back then, I just did it for the rewards and I do the same now. My favorite PVP games: Quake (with the CTF Mod), Quake III, and Unreal Tournament 2004 (2007 wasn't terrible).

I guess I just can't, I'm always curious about these, and have tried a few MMORPG's and Final Fantasy seems like it should be great for me, but it seems these games just aren't for me. Once again, after seeing the first few bits of the video, I was a little excited and interested, but as soon as I saw that group flying towards a big boss and then the massive mess of numbers and abilities, I just know I could never enjoy that. Thanks for the video anyhow, it really did help otherwise too. I'll just have to accept, I suppose, that MMORPGs are not my cup of tea.

If your a massive ff fan I'd reccomend it. The story of the main game isn't the best, however final fantasy 14 is like a love letter to all other final fantasy games - many, many references to other games. Though they are woven well into the games story itself and doesn't like to metagame.

I actually enjoy to read but theres too much pointless reading in this game. Far too many "get to the damn point" moments. Love the game tho. It's fun af when you actually get to play.

Late to this, but as someone who's played since launch I'd like to say my piece about the community. It is not this games strong suit. It is what the community has decided is the strong suit and there is a difference. This community tells everyomw they're good and wholesome. And they are so long as you are a good little hivemind and parrot the opinions they approve of. Dissent is punished heavily in this game. Groups will not accept you if you are known to say controversial things about the game. Youll get reported by entire free companies if you say the wrong thing and dont go with the majority. And then theres the nightclubbing scene. Cities are filled with their bots, and actually going to one is weird. They have it setup to a point that these people do not have a life outside of this game. Its creepy. Refer to the billboard situation. The community can be nice, but it is conditional and toxic positivity to an egregious degree.

PvP is the only thing i do in ff14 in endgame, its amazing...and thats no joke, i have every mount from it and have over 3k pvp matches...its just a lot more fun compared to say bdo pvp, which sucks. here its friends fighting each other plus the modes are so different.,..i mean RW is literally a moba in game

thanks for the honest review bro'... obviously you like it and enjoy it, despite some flaws, but hey, no one is perfect, so we can expect some flaws as well... I've never played FF14, oddly enough for a self-declared gamer like myself,, I've played many others, from WoW to ESO to Eve to GTAO and more, but somehow, I didn't yet experience the world of FF14 so I was seriously considering trying it, the demo-free basic, and seeing how it goes, so I was looking for such a review to get a feel if it's worth playing in 2023... I think I'd like it since I'm not a PvP guy, not competitive, and enjoying more a story arc and a casual gameplay pace... not to mention, if I want PvP, I know where to go, maybe a battle royal type of game and do PvP until I get it out of my system and then revert back to a casual PvE and story gameplay... so I think I'll enjoy FF14, but I'm somewhat concerned about the limitations that come with the free basic account, especially the limited options to interact with other players, mainly for tips and advice, to learn how to make it in-game... nonetheless, I'll give it a try anyway... friendly advice, for your success as a creator, try to avoid using the wording "holy trinity" in this context of the tank - healer - DPS trio, find another way of wording it, call it however you want it, gamer's trinity, or trio, or whatever else you see fit, but avoid the concept of "holy trinity" entirely...

Why would prevent him from growing more successful if he'll continue to use it? If you try out the game just a friendly advice go for all the blue icon quests which unlocks thing. If you do all other side quests you will be burnt out. Only do main quests and blue quests 😊

@@Aloha_Bamathere is no stealth bow class. Using bow will mean you will be an archer and then eventually evolve into a bard so no stealth archer. Yes you can make your own make character there’s a character creation. Don’t buy it just use the free trial until you beat the first campaign

Sure, people don’t want story, but you can go through it pretty fast, but I can follow that. PvP isn’t its strong point for sure, but I know a LOT of people who really enjoy CC. Endgame gearing? I guess there are people who like the mindless grind, but there’s extremes, tomes, manderville weapons. There is plenty to grind. No scalable difficulty? I guess, but with Criterion dungeons, deep dungeons and Ultimates you have a LOT of varying difficulty. It feels a little like you DON’T prefer the MMO that DOES respect your time. I play it, AND have a life to “touch grass”.

I really don't know what to think about the game. I started to play because of this massive amount of overwhelming positive opinions out here. I play since 2004 MMOs. Started with WoW, and switched finally to the (IMHO) much better Eldre Scrolls Online which I play since the beta. I very much apprecialte the overall liberty this game offers. I need something new, so why not trying ffxiv? But, maaan! What an experience so far... It is not set to speech, I need to read tons of (mostly useless) dialogues. Then the questdesign is just awful. One fetchquest after another. Nearly nothing feels important, but like cheap fill-ins. Why does the hero of the story need to carry pumpkins from one place to another? To mention only one of literally hundreds of those quests. I mean, solo content is why I'm here, but can you give please a little more gravitas to the quests? Look to ESO, Cyberpunk, the Witcher and learn how even sidequests can be wonder- and meaningful. Then the graphics... the cutscenes are brathtaking, but the game itself has really aged badly.. Take a look on ESO that came out 2014. It's just beautiful, especially for an online game. I know it's 4 years later, but a little retexture wouldn't do no harm. Other games did this as well. So i think I will not continue even if it's for free. It offers me nothing that I already have. Sure the job-system is unique, but it makes the gameplay, and the combat system (for me) not deep enough. Feels a little like a hash and slay. I will rather prepare a bag of popcorn and watch a summary of the apparently amazing story here on youtube than going through a endless and tireding experience of hours of hollow content. Sorry dudes...

ESO is terrible ran by greedy developers interested in nothing other than bleeding the player base. The quests on there are voice acted but still boils down to the same stuff you do in every other mmorpg. The expansions they release are also over priced absolute garbage. I wouldn't recommend that game to anyone unless they are obsessed with voice acting otherwise its clueless developers, terrible animations, terrible graphics and mind numbingly easy content. The only decent part of the game is PvP and even that isn't worth playing until they upgrade the servers for where you play.

First off I need to make a revelation that may change your worldview: (most) games are developped with the purpose to make money out of them. Mind blown, right? So every so-called service game (hopefully I don't need to explain what this is) has this kind of mechanics. FFXIV as well, e.g. subscriptions with advantages, ptw and so on. Your argument with too much onesided content cannot be confirmed, but maybe you played it not long enough. There's very few mmorpgs with such a diversity in questdesign. Make your research, you will find that confirmed. After all Bethesda /Zenimax are known for their extraordinary questlines after all (do you know shimmering islands). It may be necessary to remind you that those "clueless" guys developped other games, like Fallout, Skyrim, Star Trek, Prey and so on. But maybe those are overrated for you as well. Terrible animations? The game takes ingame graphics to do the cinematics, not "high end" animations like FF. In FF this difference is so enormous that the ingame graphics look dull in comparison. But I speak not about the cinematic teasers, they are also quite impressive for ESO. The graphics in the game are much more appealing and detailed than in FF (have a look at the house facades in southern Elsveyr) Easy content? Do you know that ESO has the most difficult to achieve content in gaming history? Maybe you don't know that one can become emperor in the game. Try it out, I wish you good luck. Don't forget to buy your shade skin in ESO for 8000 crowns. I will say that this is an unaturally positive review for a basically boring game. I know you are deliberatly trying ot bring new players to the game x and anothing you say is totally innacurate, new players should know that the first 40+ levels are solo busy work just collecting meaningless shit. Not to belittle that kind of gamplay if thats what you like but be aware that a lot of your time will be spend doing collection quests and running betweeen loctations. Even once you get into dungeons, unless you are going in with a full party of friends, youll be paired with somebody who will charge through as fast as possible and that totally ruins the dungeon. Not having a go but this gam left a lot to be desired and the youtuber selling this to you it someone who is speaking from a heavily invested standpoint, rather than as a new player. If I was you, right now, i would play the trial version and see if you like it. However, I woud say that that the FF series is poorly reprented by this MMO and you should go back and play fo some fo PS1 games like FF7, FF8 or (my fovourite) FF9!

Idk different strokes for different folks. I started two months ago and basically no-lifed the game. Enjoyed the story a lot. There are lots of filler quests in between but that's basically every MMO. Now I'm max level and getting into harder content like savages and ultimates and its amazing. I come from wow. Technically wow has the better gameplay and smoothness, but wow community is toxic especially when it comes to harder content and in wow once you hit endgame you pretty much only do heroic and mythic raiding to get better gear. In ffxiv you have so many other things to do. Go to a nightclub, meet some hot girls. Do savage and ultimate raids. Crafting, fishing. The world is very immersive it feels like you're there. Just standing in limsa limosa and listening to bards performing songs is fun. The difference between wow and ffxiv endgame raiding is interesting too. Ffxiv's mechanics are harder than wow's IMO and they are almost like puzzles, so for the hard-core player that likes to feel smart, it's actually really nice

tl;dr: Get the free trial and hold on to your money until the honey moon phase has worn off. For me the biggest negative about the game is the community. Other games are toxic? Sure, not great. FF14 is suffering heavily from toxic positiviy. I'm certainly no pro at the game and not expecting everyone to play godlike. But if you, for example, can't tell a tank in a current max level dungeon to use his mitigations or maybe use aoe attacks during trash pulls, or a dps to use aoe skills during trash, without fear of getting reported for bullying, something is wrong too. Other gripes are: - so much content locked behind the main story - lack of QoL, which was bare minimum in other mmos older than ff14 (no tooltip when hovering your cursor over another player, no debuffs shown in the enemy list, no speech bubbles for say chat, etc etc) - endless load screens when changing zones and even in cities - the housing system with the janky controls (good luck getting a plot) - endless textboxes everywhere and everytime - doing the same quest for the 30th time? Same text spam to click through as if it were the first time - endless confirmation promts - effing portraits breaking constantly (they've been 'working on it' for close to a decade now) Many issues surely are results of the noodle code ff14 is based on, but the question must be asked: How are modders and plugin devs able to get many of these issues solved, but not the game devs? (Hats for viera and hrothgar can be had with a mod, for example) Not advocating for getting mods and plugins, since these are against ToS, but can't blame anyone for using them to get some QoL. Why am I still playing? The game does have its good sides and offers something for pretty much everyone to find enjoyment in. And there are of course the friends you meet along the way \o/ You *can* find amazing people and communities here, but these aren't as plentiful as most make it seem.

This game is not good. It’s just a place for people who love FF lore to get together and do professions. The pvp is laughable if you can even find it. The characters are ridiculous looking. The grinding is wack. You can do and be everything so you don’t really take any pride in anything. From 11 to now it’s always been bad.
