They do nicely together as long as your chickens aren't bullies, but quail are completely useless from my experience.

How so? They lay tons of eggs 🥚 and are great turn arounds for meat birds.

@@jernplays1815 From my experience (and again, in my experience, remember that this is in my experience), they laid eggs randomly, never in the same spot twice, and never in a nest box. I didn't keep them contained, so they also got slaughtered by a hawk (we assumed they were just escaping until we saw the hawk chowing down on one in the backyard, he ate all the females). They were delicious though, can't say they were bad meat birds despite their size.

@@LeoTheYuty yeah you gotta keep them in pens smaller pens or you will never find eggs and they will get eaten quickly by predators without cover like bushes. I am keeping mine as meat birds and then a few for eggs to sell pickled quail eggs.

@@jernplays1815 Yeah, they're probably decent as indoor livestock, but they don't really work with my setup (good backyard, not a lot of good cages), kinda like rabbits.

I've had bob whites when I was young and they were easy, I kept 3 to 4 hundred on hand at all times. My son bought Coturnix Quail and I HATE the species, they are aggressive, and a high mortality of eggs in incubator, and chicks are very very weak. Never an issue with Bob Whites they hatch within an hour or 2 and up running really quick. I am about to tell him to swap to bob whites cause I have studied and studied and I am not happy with results overall from these Japanese quail.

Jumbo Bobwhite and bantams raised together from chicks do great. Bantam hens are very broody and hatch quail babies and are great mothers. No Bantam rooster in the pen
