Should You Return to New World for Season 5?

I tried it out and after turning off steam input for the controller. It’s a complete game changer for me as the native controller works perfectly and enhances my gameplay. Horse racing and playing instruments with the controller is so much easier now.

You should not come back to New World for this season if you don’t already love the game. Or at least give it two weeks or so because it’s more bugged than the Helldivers could handle. Also, the choice to push PVE content and the systems they have implemented is going to make it so the first two weeks it’s impossible to do unless you are willing to wait around for an hour constantly fighting for a slot.

I am someone who has been painfully optimistic about New World since its launch and I can tell you, I'm fed up with AGS. As much as I like the PEOPLE from the videos they drop, they need to start getting fired and replaced. They have under delivered time and time again and this time isn't any different. The best metaphor I have for the current state of New World is a person who looked decent to begin with, then started getting plastic surgery, maybe they got a nose job and looked a bit better, but then it wasn't far enough for them. Then they got their lips done, then botox injections until they don't even look like a person anymore.

@@MillerTheOriginal He is right though. I love the game (4k hrs of pve,pvp crafting wars and invasions since beta of 2020) but they are slow to do everything. People like you don't want us to call out the devs but as soon as they fix something b/c we called it out,youre the first ones to enjoy the fix. Ginger Prime wants to hear ALL feedback negative or positive. I do admit just saying"No" w/o saying why is not helpful. So if Ginger Prime says something negative about NW will you tell him to leave his own channel? LOL They are in danger of not being able to recover at all. You only get so many second chances. I am one of the people that LOVED the game at launch. I took my 2 week staycation to play, The bow is the best bow in any game imo. I stuck with them through it all and got laughed out of Discords and YT comments for liking and defending this game but I can't defend the lack of content b/c Im not so kosher with that either. Throne and Liberty is coming ,Wow has 2 expansions coming and FF14 has one as well. It has almost been 3 years and this game is just implementing features that most MMOs launch with. I will be playing season 5 b/c I love NW and I have a good company that I roll with but I just don't see a lot of new players coming to the game or a lot vets coming back either. I don't see how them releasing on console is somehow going to make the game better for the existing player base ,not with the reputation NW has earned unfortunately. Im very chill patient and forgiving but the majority of gamers are not.

Considering i haven't played in 2 years but have ~1500 hrs i am coming back to check out the sinking ship. At least i will have some content that will be completely new to me.

My break was long enough and I was debating on returning, but... I really don't think I want to deal with slippery movement. Good movement is such a deal breaker for me and I wasn't even too fond of it before (different weapons were weird while only LS felt most responsive for some reason.) If this is intended and permanent, I think I have to hang it up for good.

I love the game and have over 750 hours into the game and have like 100 hours using a game controller pre season 5. Happy to have native controller support but until they have another profile options or allow remapping a few buttons, I can't and won't be able to use it. There are a few things I dislike but my biggest offender is that the attack should not be the trigger... I have a few controllers I use which include Xbox One, 8bit do, PS4 and a GPDWINMAX2 and the triggers have too much travel for a button you need to press repeatedly while waiting for cooldowns (I like to solo with the hatchet and having attack being a trigger and not a face or l/r button sucks as I can't attach as fast)

I took a month or so break til season 5. I jumped on and the lag in some areas is insane for how long it’s been out. I also have a 13900k/4090. It’s the engine it runs on. It’s crap. I’m still enjoying playing to be honest. Minus the stutters and hiccups.

Once you get your BiS gear for your build or builds there really isn't anything to progress or work towards. Ya there is trade skill and some faction/territory stuff to do but that is only a few hours of game play. Become a really casual game once you get the few grindy parts done.

how did you get it to work? I can move my character and camera with controller but nothing else works properly and my entire UI still shows m+kb inputs. Also all my tool tips no longer show damage/healing numbers and instead show the algebraic formulas to calculate them, which is not something I'm willing to figure out.

There is 3 NA server: none of them reached more than cca 1500 concurrent players daily for a while now. There is 3 EU servers: they can reach up to 2-2.3k players at peak times daily, with Nysa puling 2.7-3k so capping the server. Two massive regions, and the player numbers can't even hit 10k peaks (or very rarely). This is literally a dead game. The console launch will revive the game for a little time, and can actually keep pretty decent numbers if and ONLY IF it will be crossplay with PC - so matchmaking systems will be crossplay for both PVE and PvP. Then the game can maybe hold another 10-15k players from console, and hold an average of 20-25k concurrent players within every region and every platform. If so, the game can survive another 3-4 years. If not, I think in 2025 they will shut down.

My main concern, and it has been highlighted in other videos, is the server populations. If I return will I be on one of the populated servers, or is it one of the lesser populated servers. I remember just being frustrated with the game, though the mount addition was good, overall just still seemed lacking, or lack of pop making it feel less mmo-ish.

I ONLY consider playing it for native controller support but it better be damn good and of course if im not playing with ppl basically immediately im out as well... for an mmo it definitely is not too much to ask. When this game was released it apparently was asking too much.

Would like to see your opinion on actual "new content" vs amazons opinion of what they are calling "new content". Yes they have minor things added thats actually new, but controler support isnt content. Its QoL. They have introduced more bugs now, floating around, horrible animation canceling "features", even the tail end of 2 part skills not procking like it should. Not to mention the 10 man trial is recycled content....not new.

Also to add, look at time and delays. They have had 1 sucessful launch and even it had some bugs. They still havnt addressed stuff that was way back in Alpha 2019/2020 when I was testing it. But anyways, would like to see a break down of actual "new content" they have added over the span of the games offical launch, vs recycled stuff that they deem new.

Yes it does go on sale a lot and at the same time it lose players a lot. Do not buy it And don't buy store items When game closes you will loose everything. personally i played NW on day1 lasted 6 months left came back a year January 2023. Ive played NW exclusive.... but finding out its time to take a break and head back to RUST. Until NW developers release EOY content

If you come back or even play New World, it has to be on the EU Servers. NA East is pitiful with all 3 servers combined can’t even beat Nysa in EU. I switched from Lilith to Nysa

AGS has not learned.... Lumberjack is TRASH!! Their planning is TRASH!! There is NO story telling!! The abilities is TRASH!! The "Be any job you want" model is trash!! The fishing was great though. The vision and roadmap is Trash!! The ENTIRE GAME needed to be shut down 30 days after launch, fire the director, retool the game, throw away Lumberjack and use a proven production engine. The entire game needed to be rebuilt from the ground up! aka FFXIV 1.0 vs FFXIV 2.0 ARR. I had HIGH HOPES for the game, but it was a trash game from day one and cash grab.

I think MMORPGs in general should only allow limited player to player trading for cheap things like it is in Black Desert Online. Also the marketplace / auctionhouse prices should be controlled by the game itself. These 2 things would prevent botting / RMT. Also you wouldnt have players that aggresively push prices lower or higher in the marketplace.

If you’re not already invested in New World there is no reason to play the game because it now has a population below 10,000 players after the server merge so it’s in danger of shutting down.

It’s not. This is the engine for the lotr mmo and any player usage is more valuable than shutting the game down. Also the player counts are over 200k monthly players. Don’t focus on daily player counts which are becoming less relevant as cross server modes come online.
