I’m considering going to a website because Etsy will issue a refund to the customer no matter what your policy says. It is so frustrating and I consider it theft. Also, my shop was shut down for a week because of a system glitch on their end. 🫠

Oh Gosh! Thanks for this amazing video. I am a new seller on Etsy and want to scale my business on my own website. I was super confused about the marketing stuff for both or either if them. After watching your video, I know what I should do. You are a saviour! Thanks a lot.

Thank you so much for this video. I've been on Etsy for a year and I am the one that has been driving the customers from my Facebook and Instagram to buy. The fees on etsy are not worth it so I'm going on my own website. I did host my website through Etsy but I think its a waste.

Deb Thank You for sharing your wonderful advice…. I have a question, can a business on Etsy turn bad and end up paying more in fees to Etsy than profit earned by trying to sell items you would like to list for sale?? Deb Thanks for your help on this question!

Not if you calculate your pricing properly 😉 which is why we recommend using a pricing calculator, like the (free) one we have on the blog! Hope this helps! - L

May I ask what is your opinion on having an Etsy store and your own website in your first few months of opening a shop? I’ve just opened my Etsy shop 2 months ago but I have meagre views and no sales, which after watching your latest video, I realised is normal! As I don’t want to put all my eggs in the Etsy basket, I’m trying to sell offline at local craft fairs, conventions, small businesses and art stores. However, in order to do that I would like to have a website, not just instagram, where I can display my work (a large fraction of my products are watercolour illustrations) more professionally, like an artist’s portfolio, and then also use my website to sell my products down the line. But right now I don’t have the money to invest in the monthly fees for a website, hence why I’m using Etsy. I haven’t yet thought about whether or not I would migrate off Etsy one I have my own website. What would you suggest in my situation? I’m not sure if I’ve explained myself well, or if this is a realistic concern. Am I thinking along the wrong lines, or am I thinking too far ahead? I would really appreciate any advice. As usual, thank you so much for all your videos. Your advice is beyond helpful, you’re a blessing ❤❤

Thanks for the comment! It totally depends on your business structure and how much time & effort you can put into managing your online business. Every person/business is unique and has their own challenges, so best to start with what you can manage _well_ now & give yourself time to grow ☺️ - L

Hi Deb Just one question On 5:45 you're talking about too many competitors being underpriced on ETSY, isn't this contradict your famous video "Pricing handmade: why you need to raise your prices"? Because otherwise no one who makes serious stuff and ships it in nice packaging would be selling on Etsy. Finally, could you please make a video about shipping capabilities and costs, and how all of us non-US residents could be competitive.
@Tizzitco
@Tizzitco Жыл бұрын
We're *_not_* recommending decreasing your price in order to compete with sellers who are underpriced. You should *_always_* price your products using a calculator that considers all your costs, etc. and raise your pricing when it makes sense. This video only talks about the reasons why you may want/not want to sell on the Etsy platform specifically. Hope this makes sense! Thanks for the suggestion! We'll keep this idea top-of-mind for future content ☺️ - L
