Should you sell your course on Udemy, Can you make money, is this the best way to release your course? In this video, I'll give you my opinion based on my experience

You’ve opened my eyes a bit regarding Udemy especially around the fact that great courses are being sold at $10 or so. The list is also a big one. Thanks for sharing.

Thank you for the video. Very helpful. And just to add, I've taken a few Colt Steele classes. He's a fantastic teacher, has an obvious passion for teaching, has clearly spent an insane amount of time building his courses, and genuinely wants to share his knowledge. That said, I'm sure that's not where he makes his money (so to speak) although I've not searched it out directly.

There are some good authors on UDEMY, what courses did you take from Colt?

How can I trust your info if it's just to make me buy a course.

you could try it for yourself and release a course on one of the many content sharing platforms and see how that works out for you.

Great video Andrew spelling out the pitfalls of handing your business to the likes of Udemy and others. I dabbled briefly with Teachable and came to the same conclusion. Why give them sole control of my hard earned content and be paid peanuts. I've not looked at Kajabi thinking it was the same as the others. But I'll give it a closer look. Best wishes - Paul

I know so many people who have great courses on Udemy and make less than $50 a month. Like you say, it’s better to put the work in yourself and build a list. Thanks for your comment Paul.

@@CourseBuildersAcademy Thanks for sharing such valuable information, but I've seen many crap courses sold around 12k. However, I've no idea how long that course has been on Udemy.
@CourseBuildersAcademy2 жыл бұрын
@@MehdiSattari In an ideal world the quality of the course would determine the number of sales, but I've found that isn't always the case on sites like Udemy, it can be pretty unsettling for the author who has poured his heart and soul into creating a great course only to make a couple of bucks a month while courses of lesser value sell a lot more. Bottom line you need to have total control over the marketing and the price point of your content.

Hi Andrew, you have hit the nail on the head with this video. Thanks for confirming what I thought. As you mention, things change over time and companies have to change too. Been thinking for many years that I should produce content, but never had the time to do it with a full time job. Am now in a position were I can spend some time making a change, however, when I see content creators reducing the pricing of their amazing courses, I wonder why. This only leads to others following and driving the market down. I see this in other markets too. If you produce something amazing, I say sell it for what it's worth. I had a look at the other online platforms you mentioned and they all appear to be in the USA. Do you know of any good YT videos for explaining the tax procedures for when you are a non resident?

You would need to fill out a W8Ben, but google which one there are a few different ones, it's pretty easy. If you don't fill it out you may end up having tax withheld and I think it's 20 or 30% or something
