Another thing to add is it teaches you that hard work pays off. If you put the time into a trick then you will get it eventually. There are so many things you can take from skateboarding and implement into normal life to help you. It also helps your mental health. When you skate your mind has to be on skating otherwise it isn't going to work. If your mind is on skateboarding then your not thinking about your troubles, at least for a while.

Holy shit dude that got heavy but so glad you shared. Get your ass kicked on your own terms 😂School is fucking rough man. The not obstacle but an obstacle thing is my favourite kind of skating and one that non skaters and Karens will never understand. 'You can't skate here there's a skatepark over there..." "Yeah but it doesn't have this square 😆"

@@DadLeisureSkateboarding School sucked but it did contribute quite heavily to my skateboarding journey so I felt like if I was saying it, it deserved to be kept in the video. Yeah it's fun to just make it up as you go honestly!

Sorry to hear your troubles at school man, it sounds like it really sucked. Glad to see you are still here with us. This video was real heartfelt and makes me wanna skate more, so I think you succeeded.
@nuthingusefulАй бұрын
also, the way you explained about adapting the difficulty of skating to other things and you become more inclined to embrace failure because at least you won't get physically hurt :D made me laugh, but also so true!

@@nuthinguseful I was debating taking the part about by school experience out but then I thought there might be someone in a similar situation so left it in. Yeah I just wanted to really talk about how skateboarding has helped me and may help others. I hope someone out there either starts or is inspired to go out and skate 😀

@@OwensSkateLife :( Gutting!! I'm sorry! I should have reached out to you on here,,,, I've had a rough year to be honest, lot of changes in my life - long story - but it ultimately made skating not fun like it was, was hard to find the joy in it like before :( Was in a bit of a self indulgent sulk/crisis...Even watching it sadly was not the same (prob not great PR for this video!!) You're welcome here in Leek anytime though buddy! I always had aspirations to get back on a sesh with you again, maybe even film again once I got back to where I wanted to be (had knee injury too) but now i'll take it however bro... Not getting any younger at 37 hahaa.. I've just very recently started to get back into skating - this video popped up today and I was almost emotional watching it.. so sick to see you still killing it, more progression, making content, bigger channel, I am SO PROUD OF YOU MATEY

@@OwensSkateLife ah and do you mean the college? Where you battled the kick flip ender to your last part in my vid off the big ledge - and we GOT IT :) I'll never forget it! :) I often think about those duo sessions we went on together in the 2014 - 2016 years... Woodcroft school,, Sainsburys,,Westwood school,, Morrisons,, Monument in town,,,,, they were some of the best years of my life dude :) You helped me film about 50% of my part in the first video.... I'll ALWAYS be grateful beyond words for what you did for me with that project. You were a vital component. What a team we were... suffering together for mutual clips :D

Main reason I don't skateboard is the high probability of maiming yourself and having to pay thousands of dollars for health expenditures or being permanently concussed. I'll stick with table skating, but its great to see your growth that you've achieved from skating.

Agree with you man. Remember when i was kid i could not even ask to get a board because i was afraid to get one of the parenting measures. Today i have a board, with 20+ years wasted without. What i can notice is that todays people are mostly conformists. Can say that because i also see myself like that. As you age it's harder and harder to move your arse from couch and screen. Sadly, there is not even close to numbers like in early 00's when skateparks was full of skaters and ones who felt like that. Here, where im haven't seen anyone with board more than a month, and im at skate park 3, 4 times per week..
