do you recommend on taking this certifiaction for a 19 year old trying to get into tech instead of the usual univeristy route?

If you have prior technical experience, Security+ is a more valuable investment as it qualifies you for DoD positions and other related roles.

Thanks for the information! The more videos am watching the more am starting to understand.. Now on what website I can start to study A+, Security+, and Network+? Someone had told me about Cisco. I went to the website but I was confused seems like nothing is in order. Your video opened up my knowledge a bit better. I have 0 knowledge bout IT and Cyber. Lol

I personally think if you’re a complete noob, just follow the comptia course outline. How can you be security + defending threats from your computer if you can’t even explain the metrics of file sizes. It’s like a doctor who can’t even tell you basic “hardware” of the human anatomy. You’ll have imposter syndrome like crazy. This is coming from someone who is two classes away from obtaining his network security degree but couldn’t explain to you what a CPU or RAM does. Or how to do basic User Access Control with the help of a Microsoft account.
@WithSandra
@WithSandra 10 ай бұрын
Yep completely agreed! That's also another reason why people start with the A+ who have zero IT background, it's a great way to get the basics down
@KodaiSamurai

So the information in the A+ course doesn’t have knowledge that I’ll need to succeed in cybersecurity? I want to save as much as possible, but I have 0 knowledge and I’m starting from scratch.

After obtaining my A+ I was able to obtain a help desk position and working with Active Directory Administrative Center. Studying Net+ atm and Sec+ next. Hopefully done within a year. Curious about the Cyber analyst job market for 2024.
@WithSandra
@WithSandra 10 ай бұрын
Good luck with your Sec+ and Net+ exams! Right now, it may be a competitive job market but there’re still lots of companies hiring for security roles, you’re in a great spot since you already have IT experience which is typically going to be part of the preferred experience companies are looking for. Good luck and keep us updated!😄

@@WithSandra Thank you! You were the first channel that made me realize I should pursue Cyber security. I've always liked IT/Cyber but didn't think I was capable of getting there but I can slightly glimpse the light at the end of the tunnel now. Hoping I can land a SOC analyst position.

Following very closely. I'm getting into the field newly and am very overwhelmed by the different certifications and skills available. If you could provide me a simple step by step guide in written. That would be absolutely out of this world for me. I know you will be busy mam, however, whenever you feel like I will be very much thankful.

2:40-2:55 min mark. When your saying you were working as a cybersecurity analyst, does that mean you got experience in knowledge in college? How did you land that job without having the sec + cert? 95% of youtube people always say to go for these different certs and always end up saying that they have a job related to the field prior to getting the certs. You might as well you tell people to get their college degree and be set for the long run, instead of getting 4 or 5 certs and still competing with college graduates or people with more than 7+ experience in the field
@WithSandra
@WithSandra 10 ай бұрын
There are different paths you can take to get there, I’ve had coworkers who came from bootcamp programs, military, or degree programs and there’s not necessarily one best route for everyone. College is a pretty typical path but that doesn’t mean that it makes sense for someone who might be 20 yrs into a non-tech field but decide they want to go into cybersecurity or someone who isn’t able to go through a 4-year program so they go through bootcamp + certs instead. To each their own, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t multiple ways to get there

@@epicgaming6401 no worries! I’ve been there and know exactly how you’re feeling, it’s very overwhelming especially with the way the job market is but just remember that just means there’s more opportunity to find unique opportunities. Finish your degree, get your cert, and start getting those technical projects on your resume and apply. It’s a numbers game so remember its normal to be applying to hundreds of jobs, don’t let it get you down. Good luck and keep us updated! 😄

Can I do the Google it support cert and then network plus and sec+?
@WithSandra
@WithSandra 10 ай бұрын
For sure! Though another option would be to take the Google Cybersecurity cert (imp.i384100.net/k0R0rz ) since it actually preps you for the Sec+ and provides an exam discount as part of the cert itself. Good luck with what you decide to do! 😄

since I dont have any background in IT, i chose to do the it cert or A+ first. but since the cost of the A+ is prohibitive even using oher resources to study... I decided to do the google it cert google cyber sec cert netowkr+ sec+ Do you think this is a good path or am I missing out without the A+ cert or wasting time not starting with the cyber security cert first?
@WithSandra
@WithSandra 10 ай бұрын
@@fluffyisyermom7631 Starting with the Google IT cert makes sense for you so you can get the foundations down, I’d skip the A+ since it’s an extra ~$500 but won’t be as relevant as the Network+ and Security+ that you’ll be taking, I agree with you to focus on those two certs instead. 👍

phew im so glad that i can skip A+. but I was wondering what you thought about itprostv? it seems like on youtube theyre not as popular anymore, but they offer video courses and labs for 60 bucks a month. so if I can learn network+ in 2 months with them and prof messer, id be thrilled. but i cant tell if they are a good resource or just a paid resource

If I wana get into cybersecurity fast- do u recommend I skip the Google IT support course and go straight into Google cybersecurity course?? Or need to do the IT support first to get me ready for cybersecurity course?? Btw, I already have my Sec+ and A+ but did it years ago. Never got a job in IT cause of other family problems but now Im trying to get into cybersecurity. What’s your advice?
@WithSandra
@WithSandra 10 ай бұрын
If you already have Sec+ and A+, you should definitely be starting with the Google Cyber cert (linked here: imp.i384100.net/k0R0rz ) and not the IT Support cert. If you want to go into cybersecurity, then go straight for Google Cyber 100%, sounds like you already have the foundations down so there's no need to backtrack. Good luck and keep us updated!

If you never got a job in IT then I would try to get into help desk or desktop support for a few months then transition into a cybersecurity role as employers want to see some sort of IT experience
