great video, and the reason they send those old brackets is because they are trying to get rid of stock, and i acually like that, because it helps block sun by setting them. back, so i wouod keep a good bit of old brackets, and when needed they will help.

Thanks for the video. I installed the same ones. Mine do not activate the garage door light bulb when crossing the stream. Does yours? Otherwise it works fine.

Hello. Great question. There was a lawsuit that Chamberlain lost that no longer made it possible to turn on the sensors while passing thru the beams. Did you just replace the sensors or the entire motor?
@jdjohnson3 жыл бұрын
I think they are doing that to the sensor bracket to get rid of inventory, hopefully it gets fixed soon. I got a new motor the other day with the same thing, long brackets and nubby eyes.
@sosgds3 жыл бұрын
I believe you're right! I just saw another set at Home Depot that had the same longer brackets for the photo safety eyes.

The real question I have is why have the sensors failed already on that WLED?
@sosgds3 жыл бұрын
That's a very good question Sam. I believe there were some articles in the garage that caused the receiving sensor to fail. At the end of the day the customer was okay with upgrading them to the new sensors.
@TheOnespeedbiker3 ай бұрын
Should I upgrade? I can see these as a replacement if my sensors are malfunctioning (I assume these replace the previous version and are the only ones now available), but if the old sensors are working, is there any point in "upgrading" them? You asked the question but didn't answer it.

I’d rethink your opinion on the splices, they’re 100% better than the twist type they were invented by the Bell System Labs and have been used in the telecommunications industry for over 40 years I’ve personally seen thousands that have been on phone wires as a lineman for 30 plus years still functioning and can’t remember ever seeing a failure unless lightning hit a line and usually the copper will go before that splice. Those twisted connectors have a high failure rate and that’s just a fact and electrical companies are moving towards a similar type as the one you don’t like. Just an fyi those lines used in garage doors are the same gauge as phone lines so i am comparing apples to apples. Have a great day

I just purchased this pair. I cut off the wire to the old green sensor and twisted black wire to black wire, white to white and plugged the power cord back in and no green light came on

Thanks for sharing your situation. There could be a break in the line or wire. Does the amber or orange light turn on?
@davidminor12543 ай бұрын
@@sosgds Originally what happened was my mom had backed into the garage door twice. Her second time pulled the metal roller track support away from the drywall and stud it was mounted to. That part got fixed. But then I noticed the green sensor light on the old sensor was off no matter everything I did to correct the problem the green light would never turn back on(IE: noticing the learning light kept flashing on the head unit and the light bulb would flash many time when the garage door is in the up position and would only go down if I kept the button pressed in. To answer the question about the yellow or orange light it has never gone off or blinked so I am guessing it is good. But I never cut and spliced that wire to install the new orange/yellow sensor since it seemed to be okay. Looking overhead of the head unit it did look like one piece of wire was cut on the ceiling so I attempted to cut and strip away and twist the wire back together. I also unplugged the wires from the head until and pushed them back in. I gave up and disconnected all power to that side of the garage door before calling it a night. I'm not a trained electrician. Sorry for the lengthy reply

Great video thanks very helpful. I’m researching a new garage door motor and your videos are wonderful. I noticed that my sensors are about 9 inches off the ground. This is because there is a concrete step in the way and it’s as low as they could install it. This may prevent me from getting a Genie because there is no room to mount it other than above the step. My real question does the sensor being so high cause any issues I should be concerned with? Thanks Joe

So, the upgrade feature is that they're smaller?, Why care?
@sosgds4 ай бұрын
Great question! The new design definitely helps for tighter corners when trying to apply the safety sensors. Additionally the new design helps secure their alignment Subsequently they have a lot better range and connection with the infrared being. And if that wasn't enough I appreciate now how the LED is much bigger and brighter which helps with the alining them. Thanks for the feedback!
@dpky73334 ай бұрын
@@sosgds how does their new design help secure their alignment are there fine adjustment screws or something? What I'm reading between the lines here is that the reason these are smaller is because they used less powerful lasers and therefore the user has to more precisely aim them in order for them to work.
@sosgds4 ай бұрын
@@dpky7333 You are correct. Their smaller design is in fact a result of keeping the sensors low power. Additionally the older sensors utilize a small bolt with a wing nut. The plastic to the sensors would break and the circular bolt would eventually fall off not allowing the wing nut to properly secure onto the bracket. The smaller design utilizes a bolt that actually goes through the sensor and secures the wing nut. It's definitely a much better design and by extension the smaller sensors do not move as much as the older version.

Hi I subscribed few days agao and watched almost many videos from your channel. Quick Question. 1. Does the Safety Sensor have polarity when wiring or it doesnt ? 2. Wall control panel have 2 wires as well, (i have older one) when i sort the wire, garage open.. Can you pls advise how electrically it works meaning , when i press light or lock in that panel, doesn it send DC volt or resistance is changing ?. 3. Currently i have liftmaster 3280 1/2 hp AC motor. can you recommend me quitest DC motor that I can buy pls?. 4. How do you know the logic board is broken, do you have videos determining that. 5. when you tighten the belt on motor, when do you know the belt is tighten enough. in car when you apply tension to serpenetine belt, it should not defelct more than 90 degree.

Hello. Sorry for the late response. Let me see if I can answer your questions properly. 1. Does the Safety Sensor have polarity when wiring or it doesn't ? Yes the sensors do have polarity. They need that polarity in order to work properly or as they were intended to function. 2. Wall control panel have 2 wires as well, (i have older one) when i sort the wire, garage open.. Can you pls advise how electrically it works meaning , when i press light or lock in that panel, doesn it send DC volt or resistance is changing ?. It's a pulse closed circuit. It's low voltage. You won't be shocked if you touch the wires. As for how much current in volts or amps is used, I don't know. 3. Currently i have liftmaster 3280 1/2 hp AC motor. can you recommend me quitest DC motor that I can buy pls?. LiftMaster 87504 4. How do you know the logic board is broken, do you have videos determining that. Yes, one video. The arrow buttons to program travel will indicate a series of flashes. Those flashes will let you know if the board is bad. 5. when you tighten the belt on motor, when do you know the belt is tighten enough. in car when you apply tension to serpenetine belt, it should not defelct more than 90 degree. Not that same here. This is more like a travel or conveyor belt. It should be tightened to 1/8" off the T rail assembly. I use my index finger to tell if I have proper tension. Once you are happy with the tension you will release the spring nut. The spring nut will help the wear and tear to the belt.
