Great topic. I avoided VR for years because I wear glasses and have astigmatism in my left eye. I tried the google cardboard thing once and the VR effect just didn't work for me. I recently happened to try the Oculus Quest 2 and OMGosh that worked. I couldn't believe the difference. I did feel my glasses touching (scratching eek!) the lens of the headset so I bought some little lens lifting rings. They were really cheap on Amazon and I can force my glasses right up to the lens and they cannot touch anymore. So that solved that issue. Now without glasses I do love how freeing that is but I can't focus well and everything is softer. So glasses are a must really. I found the glasses divider you get for the headset just made the field of view smaller and didn't help at all. So I didn't use that and have no issues with glasses on in the headset. HTH someone as I really wish I'd had this advice years ago.

Wow man this is why I subscribed to your channel just today. I didn't want to take my vr headset off but I did just to check out more of your channel. Most youtuber I watch I don't sub until the very least 3 mouths of watching thier content. I can't wait to see future videos I've been waiting for a good VR season for a long time I'm an 80s kid I was born in the 80s. I knew Oculus quest 2 was good I didn't know how good it could be until I put the thing on and I've only seen the tip of the iceberg. Kudos my friend keep up the great content.

@@AltVR_KZbin thanks man I have been waiting been waiting a long time for vr like this and as good as the technology is it is still in it's infancy can you imagine where it's going to be 10 , 20 years down the road this has endless potential and possibilities. Just look at the military contract with Microsoft with their augmented reality and that's AR somehow breed them together. So many possibilities. I feel though that Nintendo set the industry back a few year because of the virtual boy. Doesn't matter though I am definitely excited for the future when it comes to vr, ar, and a combination between the two of them. I knew it was going to be awesome but my brain could not comprehend what it really looks like once you are in there I went full nerd man love it

Just FYI: I should add that my price tag of "at least 100 usd" isn't entirely correct, the ones I got from VR Optician cost about 80 USD, where there is some extra price for blue light filtering.

I wonder if you have a old pair of glasses, that you can take the lenses and possibly 3d print something to hold them over the lens in your HMD (similar to the vr opticians clip on lenses). Could use like modeling clay to try out a prototype.

You'd probably have to make up your own 3D print model if you're using existing lenses, but a very cheap alternative that's worked perfectly for me (for my HP Reverb G1) is to download and 3D print round lens inserts (Thingiverse), and order generic, $10USD round lens basic frames online from Zenni. Pop the lenses out of the cheap glasses and into the 3D printed inserts, pop into the headset, and perfect.

iam nearsighted with -6,5 dpt. cant wear contacts since i overused them in my youth. eyes burn and get bloodshot after 30minutes. so i kept vr of the table since i hear that people complained that if youre strong in your dpts, you need to wear glasses, which forces the lenses of the headset further away, reducing your pov and weakining your experience. so i put it of as "another thing, thats build for masses and no cares about the exception to the masses". now its about the cost of the prescription lenses and the ability to remove them easily, since iam not the only one using the headset after purchase

Hmm yeah. Not sure what the limits are of vroptician and the like. Having to remove them usually only takes a few seconds tho

I'm farsighted. I can't read anything without glasses. In VR I can. I actually remove my glasses whenever I put on VR.

Have you tried VR with glasses and what was the difference? It makes sense though, if you can see fine at about 1,5 or 2 meters, you wouldn't need it in VR.

I have terrible vision, far sighted, lazy eye, and astigmatism. It hurts my face and is blury when I do wear my glasses :| with the vr head set. I never take my glasses off due to those issues

My perscription is on the edge of needing bifocals so I've been using the VR with nothing at all and its not that bad I see up close better without glasses and with them it gets more blurry. What do you suggest I do?

Yeah, you can. I tried it. So iirc, they might get drier due to the heat of the screen, some people report this. Otherwise, it worked out fine for me, except perhaps that I don't really enjoy contacts that much

this is pain in the butt tbh, why don't they add the mechanism camera's view finder have, there's a little wheel on my lumix camera i can adjust it to change the focal length of the view finder so i can use it without glasses.
