Cool inclusion of the section Problems and Limitations. Do you have the talk and/or article with the issues that developer mentioned?

It was a private conversation so I don't have a clean record. If you want more details I can give you its contact tho
@AlfredBaudischCreations Жыл бұрын
@@mrelipteach no worries, I'd check it if it was already easily available - I kind of know the issues because I'm also running into different 3D problems with Godot 4.

I am an amateur, but I would like to become an Indie Dev as a Video Game Developer. I have been creating visual novels for 5 years now. I have many fun video game ideas and would like to use Godot 4 to make them all become a reality. 😊

The biggest worry I have is that godot will never have game console development
@mrelipteach Жыл бұрын
Juan tweeted about this multiple time and W4 games (his company) announced they were working on it. They want to bring an easy to use solution, especially for indies and it should be out this year. Even without that, porting companies have ported Godot games to xbox playstation and switch for years
@ZeoWorks Жыл бұрын
@@mrelipteach Thanks, like Unity I'd rather have full control of a project rather than having over assets to a porting company. :)
@MrXrayez Жыл бұрын
@@ZeoWorks If you consider console development, then I presume that you have enough coding skills at this stage to have this kind of consideration in the first place. If you have the skills, then you can use Unity. So why not use Unity?
@ZeoWorks Жыл бұрын
@@MrXrayez Hi, I use Unity friend. A lot of Unity developers are concerned with the direction the Unity team is taking the engine so lots of us are hoping to find an alternative engine to study and work with. :)
@MrXrayez Жыл бұрын
@@ZeoWorks I understand your concerns, but I switched from Godot to Unity after years using Godot, so all I'm saying is that don't fall for the hype, always consider "pros" and "cons". Unfortunately, most "cons" about Godot may not seem obvious until you invest into the engine, but by the time you invest in Godot, it's kind of too late, as you may feel attached to Godot on the personal level. This definitely happened to me, so I'm not going back to using Godot, not to mention the technical limitations of Godot, of course.

I'm currently in a learning phase for Godot, and have been cycling through tutorials and lessons available to learn the interface and features on the engine. Since I'm prioritizing 2D right now, would a move to Godot 4,0 be alright? Currently have been fussing about with 3,5,1.
@mrelipteach Жыл бұрын
If you're here to learn, I think going with 4.0 makes total sense because it's the latest stable and the future of Godot. Some things are still missing but it'll get sorted out with 4.1 and later

Im working to make a mobile 3d game since unity is dogshitting its devs now...my concern is that I invested time making vfx to function in unity so i dont know if i start from scratch in G odot will it be smooth too. Im just trying to make some cash with a small mobile game thats all

I hope they introduce a superior visual scripting system, i would love to see something that is "Autist friendly" like Game maker studio, very visual and obvious with simple labels.
@mrelipteach Жыл бұрын
I don't know the state of the visual scripting, I think it's been pute aside for a while because it was a huge undertaking. WIth GDExtension we might see solid solutions made by the community

Can I replicate genshin impact shaders on godot now? because i can't find any decent tutorials on the matter :(
@mrelipteach Жыл бұрын
There's no reson you can't do it but yeah you might be lacking Godot specific tutorials though. Maybe you can find resources made for Unity or Unreal and try to apply them to Godot.
@HalkerVeil Жыл бұрын
Don't turn into Unity with multiple render pipelines and broken features to each. There's a reason we are looking elsewhere.
@mrelipteach Жыл бұрын
It's not the goal don't worry. Godot aims to be usable for everyone.
@MrXrayez Жыл бұрын
Well, ironically, Godot lacks direction. On one day, they will say that they are not here to sell you a professional product. On the next day, they attempt to replicate features of Unity, in an oversimplified manner which are difficult to use in Godot because of its intrinsic architecture. If Godot developers are going to attempt to replicate Unity, Godot developers are going to shoot themselves in the foot, and frankly, this is already happening with Godot 4.0. Just wait a couple of months to get more insight concerning Godot's 4.0 true capabilities vs claimed capabilities, although you don't have to literally wait to see where this is going.
@gergelypaless5042 Жыл бұрын
I don't get why we are still using and updating the Godot script language. Why dont just use C#, Go, or Rust? I think Unity did the right thing when they deprecated javascript.
@mrelipteach Жыл бұрын
Because GDScript is awesome and tailored made for Godot. Use C# if you prefer, no one if forcing you to use GDScript!
@dogeatdog6157 Жыл бұрын
Cool story
@MrXrayez Жыл бұрын
Because Godot is not Unity, and will never become on par with Unity. These are completely different game engines, with different development approaches and architecture. If you still believe that Godot has a potential to become equivalent to Unity, then I'm sorry to say this, but you're being brainwashed by Godot overzealous fans. Check what other people outside of Godot community say about Godot if you want to see an objective picture about Godot as a game engine.
