Doc, can I PASTA tear heal on its own if you immobilize the arm in a sling for a few weeks? Is there contact b/w the tendon and the humerus in a neutral position like that?
@rotatorcuffexpert6 ай бұрын
Hey blondie, Good question. A lot depends on the severity of the tear. A PASTA lesion by definition is a partial tear (partial articular sided). Please consider joining our newsletter. Just email me at dro@mybodyprotector.com and put yes in the subject line and we will get you set up with a few tip sheets as well!

@@rotatorcuffexpert Thanks, sent, can a 70% PASTA tear heal?
@rotatorcuffexpert6 ай бұрын
@blondiekowalski8803, If you look at the research a 70% has an increased likelihood of worsening over time. More likely than it healing. Sorry

@@rotatorcuffexpert Thanks for the reply. I have seen the research, and I am thinking out loud as an anonymous researcher here, if you immobilize that tendon on the bone (with the arm in a sling) the same way sutures and screws immobilize it mechanically after surgery, do you think that the tendon is in contact with the humerus so it could "potentially heal"?
@rotatorcuffexpert6 ай бұрын
Unfortunately, I don't think you can immobilize the arm in a way that would recreate what an anchor does to secure the torn tendon to the bone .

Hi doc. Thanks again for all these info. I kind a had a shock news from my surgeon a few weeks ago. Apparently, I would need a shoulder replacement because of the arthroses cause by a putiplat done 40 years ago because the bancart repair failed didn't work. that prematurely cause the problem and pain I'm having. Long story short, what's your take on this shoulder replacement surgery on a man of 68 years hold ?
@rotatorcuffexpert6 ай бұрын
@oneom8158, Ah the PuttiPlat. I haven't heard that name in a while. Yes that can overly tighten your shoulder and cause DJD over time. I think in the right situation at TSA can be a good option for a 68 yo. Good luck and let us know how you are doing.

@@rotatorcuffexpert Thank you for your reply. Please, tell me, what is a TSA ? I am appointed to meet my surgeon again in mid June, so I will bring your suggestion to the meeting.

TSA is a Total ShoulderReplacement .

@@SVTZX52003 Gee, thanks, I have to translate from french to English in my head and it's some time tricky to express one self clearly, in this case, to understand the abbreviation. But why TS (A) ? Shouldn't it be TS (R) for Replacement ? 💙🙏

Oneom, it stands for total shoulder arthroplasty. Arthroplasty is the medical term for joint replacement :-)

Dr. Orkut what is the surgeons fees for arthroscopic supraspinatus tear repair?
@rotatorcuffexpert4 ай бұрын
Surgeons fees are determined by the contract they have with the insurance company. Some companies pay more and some pay less. For example medicaid pays the lowest and workers comp or personal injury claims pay the most.
@kiklocus46604 ай бұрын
@@rotatorcuffexpert thank you, whats the medicaid pay?
@rotatorcuffexpert4 ай бұрын
It also depends on the area, typically less than $1000 for the surgeons fee.

Plz let me know the difference in rotater cuff tear and axillary nerve palsy coz i have consulated with 2 Drs one said its axillary nerve palsy and another said its rotater cuff ....plz tell i am felling very depressed
@rotatorcuffexpert5 ай бұрын
Well the axillary nerve causes the deltoid to contract- it is rare to have a axillary nerve palsy. A rotator cuff tear does not involve the deltoid or the axillary nerve. As the rotator cuff muscles are not innervated by the axillary nerve.
