The biomechanics of the shoulder are highly complex. It is composed of four joints (glenohumeral, acromioclavicular, scapulothoracic, and sternoclavicular). The sternoclavicular joint (SCJ) is a saddle shaped, synovial joint. The articulating surfaces are not fully congruent and divided by an articular disc. The joint is concave in the vertical axis and convex in the anteroposterior axis.
Ligaments of SC Joint are sternoclavicular ligament, costoclavicular ligament and interclavicular ligament. The injuries of the SCJ include both fractures of the medial end of the clavicle and dislocation of the joint.
