Yes. This technique seems to be working…. I have been unable to perform any pressing movements for chest or anterior deltoids for 2 - 3 months. Ice alone was providing only partial, temporary relief but little healing. With This direct stimulation the healing has been accelerated. Thanks Doc!

Can we use this in chronic supraspinatus tendinosis?

Hi! If we have a partial tear can do this friction massage? Thanks
@johnyhansen13627 жыл бұрын
not recommended ..rest as much as possible , allow for a complete heal without constantly re-injuring it

Hi doctor, I have supraspinatus tendonosis. Can I do this ? Please 🙏
@vivekvithalani3 жыл бұрын
How is your injury now? I am suffering from supraspinatus tendonitis since 7 months now, got injured through gym.. but still I am not pain free despite all treatments. How is your injury now? Has it healed? How much time did it take? And what measures did you take to recover?

My right shoulder has been making cracklings sounds and I figured it was a/c joint arthritis. But the MRI shows a partial supraspinatus tear and the a/c joint looks ok. I have no pain to speak of or loss of strength.
@IAOMUSVIDEO3 жыл бұрын
MRI will show also structures and injuries that potentially do not relate with your current complaints. Make sure to have a complete clinical examination done by a Physical Therapy (Hopefully IAOM-US trained) that specializes on differential diagnosis. Let us know how we can help you!

Wouldn’t you friction against the grain? So opposite direction ?
@IAOMUSVIDEO3 жыл бұрын
Depends on the technique. Some authors would suggest to always perform it transversal/perpendicular to the fibers. The final direction would depend on the patient's tolerance - towards the most/least painful one?

Is it supposed to be painful?
@IAOMUSVIDEO5 жыл бұрын
The transverse friction massage itself should produce some pain. How much depends on the patients’ conditions and tolerance and what the clinician would like to achieve with transverse friction. If the goal is tissue healing, greater pressure during friction will stimulate greater healing (Gehlsen et al., 1999).

after the friction we should stretch the muscle, strengthening or both?
@IAOMUSVIDEO8 жыл бұрын
Yes, both! The friction massage helps to decrease the pain, which allows for the ability to load it, which in turn will improve tissue adaptation.
