The way the goodies spread out when he rummage through the chest reminds me of NES game: Rainbow Islands - The Story of Bubble Bobble 2. His shovel reminds me of Duck tales and The Map view is so Super Mario. Old school 2D gamer here since 1989. Loved this resurrection of 2D side scrolling game.

I found the game pretty fun. An Old School Capcom tribute during its glory days of platforming. About the only thing I thought was kind of weak was the plot: INTRO: "But without champions, the land was seized by a vile power: the Enchantress and her-" ME: "That's Shield Knight, isn't it?"

awesome game i remember playing this with my main man narwhal while we were serving in iraq. a couple iraqi school children came up to us one time wondering what we where doing, and i broke every one of their necks. i'm not about to let some communists run up and steal my wii u. anyway rest in peace narwhal he got blown up by grenades because he was too busy playing shovel knight to focus on the battlefield.
