This was my first attempt and doing this in a video. I think I could put together a better one next time.

Its been awhile since you posted this video, but I'm hoping you could help me out. Basically said, when I pull my clutch lever and bottom it out (to the handgrip), it doesn't pull the clutch arm forward enough to disengage the clutch; Even if I adjust my pushrod screw and clutch cable to the point of no slack whatsoever, I still can't move that clutch arm forward enough. Do you think my problem is as simple as a clutch lever that doesn't have enough leverage to it? Its got '03 levers Let me know! Max

I've got 1979 FSX-80 with a rotary top 4 speed tranny and the clutch adjustment in the manual is confusing. Could you give a brother a hand on how to properly adjust? Here's what I'm doing: 1. Taking out all the slack on the clutch cable. 2. Breaking loose adjustment nut and screw. 3. Measure distance between pressure plate and spring plate for 31/32" clearance. 4. Turn adjustment screw until it barley seats on push rod then back off 1/8 turn. 5. Adjust clutch able so release arm is 13/16" away from top of "cowpie" on tranny. My issues are that the springs are totally compresses if I go off 31/32". The measurement for the 13/16" the clutch cable doesn't have enough thread to adjust out that far. Advice?

@@joesurfer9754correct so doesnt matter where the clutch arm is situated within its range of motion on 4 speeds . as long as theres no pressure and then some on the oil slinger down n the kicker cover when clutch closed. when the plates open nicely and you can spin the basket your good ta go . is that a correct senario?

@@hanskonrad5850 The manual say's that clutch release arm has to be something like 3/8 from the starter housing. (The spec I gave is ballpark).

Looks like this guy took ALL of the adjustment out of his clutch cable sleeve which is wrong. It means the clutch release lever is not adjusted right. (stock early 79 and earlier the release lever (that cable hooks into) is adjusted between 3/8 to 5/8 from the starter) this should enable plenty of adjustment on the cable sleeve.

My dude, I think what you are referring to is the procedure for adjusting the 5 speed model. What is in this video is a ratchet top 4 speed. Also, this is a kick only setup with no starter............................................. kzbin.info/www/bejne/jHfbeaduoJmSjpo
