Thank you so much for the opportunity to share my garden!😊 yes the fence was put there to keep rabbits out. My neighbor across my house loves the view from her house and enjoys my garden.

Thank you, so much for, showing my garden in your video and for your kind words. I feel honored it was included with all the amazing photos and videos representing our zone 4. Yes, the window and shutters are mounted on my fence. There are loads of free rocks in this state, so I put them to use in my landscaping. I'm really enjoying this share-your-garden project. Hope you're healing well.

Loved seeing your garden! I put up a wrought iron frame on mine, unfortunately it blends in. If Janey puts up one, i think she should skip the shutters and put Bougavilla in pots an both sides. The white bench would look sweet with it.

Gosh, thank you. I bet yours looks terrific. I agree that Janey's new white bench would look sweet that way. She could keep the vignette she started in her previous garden using those blue and white pots.@@melodykaufer5696

Hi Janey, It’s Tony. Thank you for sharing my garden and my water feature. My water feature is an aquascape pondless waterfall. I made the purchase during the COVID-19 pandemic as a way to relief my intense work stress (I’m a nurse practitioner) and it definitely helped curb my emotional distress during that time.

Tony, your garden is beautiful and transcends peace. I can see how it helped you deal with the intense stress during that time. Gardens have a way of healing our souls. Thank you for sharing.

Love these zone videos! Amazed at what can be grown in zones 3 & 4 (Im live in 5b). I name my gardens too. My favorite is my prayer garden. Much like your secret garden it is mostly shade. My newest garden is the Memory garden. Plants that have been given to me our remind me of a loved ones garden. You bring such wonderful info and ideas. Thank you!

I'm enjoying the Zone Series, Janie! Speaking as another Zone 4 Minnesotan gardener, the shorter growing season fits us fine. (Well me anyway.) We enjoy all four seasons, and honestly by the time a killing frost hits, a lot of zone 4 gardeners are ready to put everything to bed for the winter. That includes insulating roses and hydrangeas with leaves and mulch, covering tender perennials with rose cones, and fencing to protect shrubs from rabbit and deer. I remember a mild autumn some years ago when Cosmos was still blooming at Halloween and I was sick and tired of gardening already. I thought to myself, how do warmer zoned gardeners do it?! 👀Actually, we are having a very mild autumn this year. Temps in the 50's and might hit 60 this week. We had one snowfall, west of the Cities, but it quickly melted and the temps were mild again. One plant we can easily grow in zone 4 is Rhubarb. 😉

You said it perfectly. Those of us who live with four distinct seasons always seem ready for one season to end and another to start. I think I would burn out if I gardened 12 months of the year. I love the dreaming and planning season of winter. Good thing I live where I live, southern Michigan.

I have a answer for the gardeners or non gardeners who have struggled with brown spots where female dogs have pee peeed. This has a track record of 100% in the history of my suggestions. That is to give your dog a couple tablespoons daily of tomaito juice or V8, ee or ect. If you have male dogs they may appreciate having the same"treat". My daughter fills a water bottle with a flilp top and keeps it in the refrigerator. How easy and how great to elmiate those brown lawn spots. Great tip to help so many people!!!

Maybe a good advice for other Zones from Zones 3-4. is to not clear all the leaves away as they work as a buffer for snow and insulation for cold. Especially around zone pushing plants it‘s the cheap but efficient way. It’s winter - if snow is falling in your area don’t worry if it looks ugly you won’t see it then. Remove it in spring. In Germany we add a layer of Pine branches to buffer the tender roses - it’s the neater but more expensive option. (You get them around Christmas time as cut offs from the Advent decorations.)

Thanks for sharing these gardens and tips... great community work! I live in upstate NY snd really appreciate the similarities and differences between these gardens. If you do a window on the fence put a mirror behind it in the frame! DaintyDiaries from Ireland has a channel where she upcycled some old windows by adding a mirror (the real mirror was too heavy, I think she ended with mirror vinyl or something like that). It looked amazing in her garden! Like a window to a secret garden ❤

I am from Ottawa Canada and the lady that said she was a zone four. we used to be a zone four but we are now a zone five. I can get butterfly bushes at our local Home Depot and other nurseries. If you can get it at your nursery, usually that means they are meant for your zoning. But I have to say some years. I wonder if we’re still four depending on the type of winter we have. Some years some plants just don’t come back and it could be that they are zone five and that is why.

Really really enjoy these segments. Something you should consider keeping even when you are up and about. Would also give you a break from coming up with content which I’m sure can be taxing. I am in central Florida and I’m curious to see if you have any submittals from my area. I have searched you tube but with exception of food gardening and native gardening, there is not much out there in the way of flower/shrub gardening in my area.
