I had a 13 inch B&W from Montgomery Ward that my girlfriend bought for me in 1977. She worked for Wards and it cost her $50.00 with her discount. She worked in the department in the office that paid the bills for Wards for what they purchased she told me that some stuff had a 300 to 400 % markup on the items they bought. One thing I remember her telling me that they bought a box of 6 men’s Arrow shirts for about $16.00 and the went out on the rack for $16.00 each. She bought a lot of stuff from them and saved a ton of money. The department she worked in was called Invoice Records just a little thing for everyone to know and think about.

I grew up on this set. This was the first TV my parents ever owned. Their first house in VT was off grid and used a 12v car battery electrical system, hence the need for a DC set. After they moved to NY I grew up watching this until they "upgraded" to a Magnavox RR1330 sometime in 92-93 lol

Interesting. We never had a tv smaller than 19". Except for 7 inch TVs for a individual gift or use. Which only got used a few times for an hour or so.

Neat little set. Was it made in USA? Just in case your croc clips lead goes OC or intermittent, it might be worthwhile verifying a discharge with a meter.

Made in Taiwan actually, even though it's finished up at the Indiana plant for RCA

That's an old looking set, but it looks fresh. Even the inside looks fresh :-D Someone will enjoy that set, but a freeview box will be needed. Ooops freevew is our tv box.. No we still have to pay the BBC a license fee. I gave up t.v a loooooong time ago.

We're nearing that type of overregulation with the introduction of ATSC 3.0. Subscription television over the air. I only watch the few channels here OTA that play Nostalgia. Shows and movies from the previous decades. If it becomes a subscription service, there's almost no point in watching tv for me anymore.

A dam shame :-( i gave up on tv a loooooong time ago, and if they made it free i would still ignore it. For your t.v repairs, i imagine a vcr and patten generator would be your test. Dam shame :-(.

@@nomusicrc same principal as an automotive ignition coil, except an oscillating circuit with a transistor is controlling the triggering instead of a trigger pulse from a trigger wheel and cam sensor
