Welcome to the Show of Shows, February 2024 in Louisville, Kentucky! This event promises to be a treasure trove of militaria and World War II artifacts, with an impressive display of uniforms, medals, and daggers.

After 24 years of going to the Show of Shows, I finally gave it up. First of all, there are too many items that I would consider to be highly suspicious of being passed as originals. I cannot call myself an expert but I have bought and sold many Third Reich items over the last 40 years and many of the items simply do not look to be original to me. Secondly, the crowds. I no longer rent a table so I can only come in on Friday and Saturday with the crowds which makes navigating very difficult. I am 70, my legs are giving out and I refuse to ride one of those scooters that clog the traffic in the aisles up. Third, the prices. I realize that money isn't what it used to be but when I attended the Houston Astrohall shows in the '80s and '90s, the prices ruined me. German Army belt buckles were $20-$25, Wound Badges were $20, Kar98k Mausers were $75 for mis-matched and $125 for matching, M-35 Heer double decal helmets were $250. I do appreciate you filming the show so I can see what I missed out on. Thank you!

Thank you for saying that . As a disabled veteran I can no longer walk the tables either, the crowd just knocked me over. And when I got out of the army 1984 I moved to Houston and that was my very first gun show ever. It was so big that I got lost so many times the guy told me write the table numbers down otherwise you'll never find your way back. Most gun shows now are just flea markets and as far as the prices for the Nazi stuff goes oh my God I was just knocked over. Remember at Houston Astrodome show I picked up an M16 parts kit from Malaysia brand new before I think $150 I've since turned it into my M16 that I went to the military with what's in my gun closet

I am shocked at the lack of REAL German officer visor caps. An Infantry maybe, a Cav every now and again. The show is fine for beginning collectors, but as a German headgear collector for over 30 years, I'm convinced the best stuff is in private collections. I guess old farts like us have to die off before the great stuff comes to light. Great video, thank you for showing us the show and your channel.

I love the hobby but I’ve had to step back because prices have gotten far too high and they were high when I started but now looking back I wish I’d bought soo much more it makes you wonder where the prices go from here and how many collectors will be able to stay in this hobby if they keep going up like this.

Also another angle to look at it is if someone else spots a fake which you the dealer wasn't aware of, and it happens to all of us, he can have it removed before selling it to someone who is starting off and unaware.

Exactly. Why would you not want free advertising? If you can't stand the possibility of your militaria being recorded, then don't set up a table. I guess the guy who refused doesn't realize that this is 2024 now. Videoing is part of everyday life now.

the amount of ultra rare and high end items offered by emedals has me a bit skeptical about the true authenticity of all their pieces. On their tables sits better and more rare items than you'll find in the best museums in Europe!

Starrted collecting in 1968 after my Dad who was a combat vet in WW2 gave me a silver panzer badge he took off of a German soldier. Too many well made fakes for me to start collecting again.

I enjoyed the great coverage of the Show Muchacho. Thanks for taking the time to do it. I would have liked to see more quality Imperial Era Uniforms or some ornate Grosser Pattern Swords. There’s one thing I’m sure none of us missed. That being, those hideous fake Christmas Ornaments or the 💩paper that has wrapping which seems to change color quarterly 😂

Yes they are. It is all about: question, demand and supply. It's very populair by collectors, but also very rare. This is what determines it's value. This goes for all kinds of collectables.

There were crap loads of SS uniforms, acoutremonts, badges, awards, daggers etc produced and even if you are interested in them, as I am, the fetishization of them which has occurred in the primarily US "collector" market has served as a major incentive for a huge quantity of high quality fakes. So I'm done even bothering with most of this stuff. I get supply and demand, desirability (genuine interest in History) etc - but the prices are simply batshit now. Of course old geezers sitting on piles of the stuff they picked up in the 40's 50' 60's etc for peanuts are doubtless delighted by the value of their collections. But thats of no comfort to anybody looking to get started in the hobby who finds that alchemy is apparently real after all and all this stuff genuinely has transmuted into gold in the last decade.

the level of craftmanship sith thses daggers is off the charts. The ammount of detail is exquisit. Even over 80 years ago these daggers were very hard to produce with this ammount of quality. And also back in those days they were alreade very expensive to produce.
