Just passed my PPL and starting instrument. 1. DPE is your friend it isn’t an interrogation. 2. Don’t lose sleep over it you’ve studied enough. 3. Switch flight schools if you feel like you’re not advancing. If you keep becoming checkride ready and being told you have to keep checking something off and your school is throwing some BS at you you’re probably getting scammed. I switched flight schools at 90 hours and got my checkride booked once they deemed I was competent enough for a checkride. 4. Don’t give up
@johnamin7858Ай бұрын
Woah 90 hours and you switched? That had to be a tough decision so far into training
@gabothegreat1244Ай бұрын
@@johnamin7858 I kept getting told my checkride would be booked, and so I got proficient and current to take the checkride like 4 times and then they completely fucked it off. It became a loop that I got sick of and thought flying wouldn’t be meant for me. Turns out you just got to get yourself in a school that wants you to succeed and doesn’t wanna rinse your bank account

Documents for check ride 5:22 -gov issued id,med cert, pilot student and log book What does 320 mean in engine size 8:52 -its in cubic inches and it is how much volume of air will move through the engine in one full rotation Downside of a carbureted airplane 9:17 -icing and poor performance How to identify carb icing 9:40 -gradual decrease in RPMs -rougher engine Why does it get rough when applying carb heat 10:31 -as the ice melts it goes into the engine Where does carb heat come from 12:02 -around the exhaust manifold and cabin heat is also heated from this What do you do for hypemic hypoxia 12:39 -turn off carb heat and open windows and get to a lower attitude and land as soon as possible Difference between land as soon as possible and practicable 13:22 -possible (right away so you don’t die) Why is some fuel unusable 14:10 What is an stc 15:08 -supplement type certification and it is mainly for an after market product that is installed that does not come from the manufacturer What does it mean if ammeter is reading 0 or less than 0 17:11 - it shows you the battery is discharging. Alternator can still be working but you’re drawing too much power or something is drawing too much for it to keep up. You can turn off non important items off to see if it comes back up. If it doesn’t come back up, a good rule of thumb is about 30 minutes for electrical use. What would you do if you had alternator failure 19:28 -try to reset it and if it doesn’t work land as soon as practicable with an airport that has services. Engine will stay running What keeps engine running 20:32 -the magnetos and magnetos are what keep the spark plugs sparking. Name of airspeed you should never exceed 21:40 -Vne What is manuerving speed 22:53 -Va: you can fully deflect a control without damaging the aircraft if you are below this speed. Some airplanes stall before damage but the POH will stage it Bottom of White arc in airspeed indicator 26:04 -VSO, full flaps for stalling What is empty weight? 27:43 -it consists of unusable fuel and oil and existing equipment installed from the manufacturer What is center of gravity 28:23 The point on the plane if you hang it from the string where the control movements will move about 29:06 benefits of a forward cg(near limit) Stall recovery, more stable airplane, 29:31 downsides of forward cg Harder to rotate, harder to flare, cruise speed decreases and fuel burn increases since drag is increased 30:14 opposite of drag is thrust and thrust is generated is from power 30:34 datum: an imaginary line where all measurements for weight and balance are taken from 32:03 Engine failure while taking off but still one ground Pull back power and mixture to cut off fuel 32:34 engine fire during start -continue cranking engine, pull back mixture, and select fuel selector to off 32:56 engine starts but caught fire -same procedure but for new Cessnas crank power up to 1800rpm 33:47 engine failure in cruise -airspeed glide -best space to land -cut off mixture to lean and fuel selector to off. Call atc 121.5 and squawk 7700 Other emergency squawks 34:43 -hijacking 7500 and communications failure 7600 35:24 stuck between cloud and fog layers -check direction of flight and turn around and call atc, confess and comply and ask them for vectors 37:58 ice build up on tires and on windows -windshield deicing and dropping altitude and carb heat and pito heat. Turn all the heat on in icing conditions

Correct me if i’m wrong but I always thought the CG was the point at which you can balance a plane on. For example in a toy plane it’s the point you can balance on your finger. The center of pressure is the point in which you can suspend a plane from a string. I got this info from FlightInsight’s video on CG
@cheesepilotАй бұрын
Yep that is correct but it’s also where all the control forces are felt about
@cheesepilot13 күн бұрын
sorry i replied to this comment probably from bed so lets correct my previous answer. the CG is the point were the aircraft could be balanced from no matter it be from a string or on your finger its where a stationary aircraft would balance. If i deflect a control surface the pressure generated from that deflection will cause the aircraft to rotate about the CG which is why I said that the CG is where the aircraft will balance and its where all the control forces are felt about. Center of pressure on the other hand you can think of as the center of lift. the CG and the CP or CL can be the same place they also can be at different spots. the Center of pressure can change based on aircraft configuration like flaps slats spoilers etc. It can also change based on the effects of compressibility, but these effects usually aren't felt at the speeds of a Cessna.

All the M's I fly are placarded for "no slip with flaps", flaps go to 40. They just prohibit with any amount of flaps, but no actual difference to any other 172 at 30 degrees. You just have to count your potatoes for flap degrees as there's no set stages on the flaps and the flap indicators in those things are horrible. I have not slipped them with any amount of flaps, though. I figure it's placarded, it's in the POH to avoid, even if slipping is to drop as much altitude as quickly as possible and it'll work better with the flaps I better be cautious about it. I've heard a ton of conflicting ideas on this, though, where some people would say it makes no sense to slip with no flaps, and others that say to follow the POH. I guess I'm with the latter.

51:27 I thought the mature stage experience the most downdrafts because it would be the peak of the thunderstorm
@3pic_gaming447Ай бұрын
There are the most downdrafts in the dissipating stage because the storm is essentially “raining itself out” so everything is coming down. Mature stage is a mix of both updrafts and downdrafts. Dissipating is when the downdrafts become stronger than the updrafts and cut off the storms supply of that warm moist air thats being pulled up. Soon after, the storm ends I hope this helps

when i said prepared i meant documents and nav log. Alot of students show up to mock check rides kinda mailing it in when it comes to the planning. I believe he was training in multiple different aircraft as well some being published in MPH and some knots so I can get the confusion.
