To be honest, I did used to watch BP and didn't mind him too much, but as he has gained popularity he has become a lot more antagonistic and awkward with people. I drew the line when he was at a works recording where the manager got him a walk around but BP ignored the managers request to not actually video him. He did another where he was given a walk around on the condition that he did not record, but he lied and recorded anyway and still uploaded even though he felt 'bad' about doing it. Those two videos are still active to this date. I still watch now and again when I feel like leaving a bad comment.

Good observation about DJA of late, I wonder why he’s stopped going into reception areas prior to making the videos? I wonder if he’s got into some legal hot water about the “implied public areas” filming and decided against it? Something must have happened…

Moving barriers off the highway and putting them back into the company car park. Way beyond the scope of an “audit”. Why not just note it and give advice, then move on? Another video today removed & re-uploaded with blurred out portions. Ironically after the subject was lectured about privacy not applicable in public places. This is gaining traction, very few used to get removed like this now it seems more common.

I actually stated in the video that not all security staff have to be SIA licensed. That was what I had in mind when I said it, but it's not relevant in this case because the security guard is SIA licensed.

In his wrap up at the end, he says the security guard was not showing his badge but lter went to his hut to get it. So, what is that blue rectangular thing hanging off the guard's belt? I think I know; it is his SIA badge.

To be fair, that was his company ID, not his SIA badge. I would still question whether he really should have to display his SIA badge to somebody filming him while masked, but the letter of the law does require it.

@@LeicesterPaul He is SIA licensed. He stated as much himself and produced his SIA badge in the end. That answers the question because even if his employer is authorised under section 4 of the 2001 Act, if the individual is licensed anyway, then the Regulation 5 conditions of the licence apply.

The issue of the SIA badges is interesting. It is important that SIA-licensed operatives display their badges at all times. There are a number of good practical reasons for it and the letter of the law - rightly - does require that he display it on his person at all times. Yet I ask myself: can we expect him to display such a badge to a strange man wearing a mask who is wandering around outside an ordinary industrial site filming everybody for no particular purpose? Looked at in context, I would hope that the SIA take an understanding view in such cases. But it should be an exceptional thing for an SIA-licensed operative to withhold compliance, not the norm.

The only way this is going to stop is if the victims who appear in these videos bring civil claims en masse against auditors and KZbin for privacy and data protection breaches. KZbin in particular should be dragged through the courts for this because they know very well what is going on and can no longer rely on their 'safe harbour' immunity - and, arguably, some KZbin executives should be in prison for this - but there are significant barriers in the way to a mass litigation action, and auditors know this - which is why they are still around and as cocky and arrogant as ever.
