@@seanandersonbey3768 Dead easy to ride, easily manoeuvrable, comfortable and practical. Eat up the urban commute, happily sit on the speed limit for longer journeys, bodywork does a surprisingly good job of keeping you warm, dry and clean of road grime on the way to work. It's not the same as a motorcycle but not that different, a different flavour if you will. All most of us need, if ego isn't part of your motorcycle recipe, a well looked after scoot will keep the the commuting drudge miles off your big bore toy, maintaining resale and keeping your servicing bills down. Problem is its hard to walk past the scoot once you're an owner. Just plain fun mate, give it a go.

Guys the full face helmet fits in the Beverly too but you have to put it on the side. If you live in Ireland like I do believe me, both ABS and TC are a life saver. It’s not about the speed but about the road conditions. Sometimes you find yourself with the back wheel on wet manholes and the scooter is very snappy

I'm here because I rode Burg 400 at a demo day, and it was one of my favorite bikes in the context of that fairly slow, surface-streer ride. I had nothing against scoots, I'd just never ridden one. It also has the best-feeling brakes of what I rode that day. That included the GSX-S1000 & S750. I'm going to try too get my hands on a Burgman 650 for a ride.

I spent 25 years riding motorcycles, still do, and until on vacation about 10 years ago with a friend and his wife, who are both serious long distance Harley riders, never had I ridden one, rented one before - they had their own. We were in Key West and he told me it's the only way to get around in a congested area. I have owned a Honda PCX150 for 8 years now, absolutely love it. I've had zero mechanicals and avg 115mpg, which it isn't supposed to get (105 I think?). The CVT seems to reduce my riding concentration, and stress, by about 30%. I can focus more on the road, what's going on around me, the sites, and riding. I always always have a huge grin when I ride it and can absolutely rail through turns on it, and even ride on smooth dirt roads or across a field. My next one will be in the 300-400cc range, because I'd like the ability to go on the highway. For me, that'd be the perfect size. Great video! I like the Burgman, that's what I'm thinking about. Or a used Honda Forza.

I mostly, exclusively ride on the track now, as it is much safer. The only street "bike" I have now is a BV400 Piaggio. Its awesome. Low stress, and practical.

I have a 20221 BV 350 and I love it. The best thing to do here (Seattle) is take the ferry across to the pennisula. Scooters and motorcycles get loaded on first and do not have to wait in the long car line. Just go around the cars and zip onto the ferry. I am shorter so I like the idea of the Burgman being a little lower to the ground.

I’ve just completed an 1100 kilometre trip from NSW into Queensland on “mostly” very ordinary roads and a lot of rain. My BV 400 performed faultlessly, never missed a beat travelling at a consistent 110kph to 120kph. With a top box, under seat storage and two Corazzo soft throwover panniers I had more storage than I needed for a 7 day trip. The only downside was a fuel reduction from 29.5 ks/l to 26 because of the panniers

Now 20 months old and 14000+ ks on the clock and I still love this scooter. No problems encountered, 12000 k tyre change to Michelin citygrip2’s full day touring at speeds up to 140kph are easy and at 5ft 11in (180cm) and 94 kilos I have never had any problems with comfort either. True it would be nice to be able to move my feet to a different position but this scoot is more comfortable to ride long distances then any bike I have owned in my 55 years of riding. Only my 08 Yammie Tmax was maybe better

Now that I'm 50.. having to do repairs all the time isn't as appealing, nor am I looking to cut them down and pimp them out anymore (7 coats of pearlescent on black, larger center tanks and extended forks ..etm). I have a Burgman and Yamaha and by far Burgman more comfortable and safer with braking the suspension of the Burgman is more softer and the driving position allows you to drive all day without being embarrassed to drive for the Piaggio that's all the opposite is the driving position 👎 and the fact that it is higher makes it less comfortable and I didn't like the handlebars which force you to lean forward a little unlike Burgman or Xmax where the handlebars come towards you

I'd have to take the Piaggio, even though I try to avoid Italian vehicles. I worked on too many Italian cars in the past and owned 3 Italian motorcycles and am not impressed. But the "lean backwards with my feet way out front" riding position is not for me.

Prefer the burgman 200 than the 400, top speed is very similar but the 200 has much more space under seat “2 full face helmets” But the 400 is far better than the piaggio,

Don't knock TC on anything, including a scooter. SE Asia has the rainy season. The rest of the world outside of southern California appreciates ABS and TC on bikes, and yes, even scooters.

I thought the same thing. With the help of KZbin video (there’s several of them) I replaced my own. I’m not a mechanic. All for the price of a belt. I did buy a torque wrench. But I use that all t he time now.

You're probably thinking of the Burgman 650. The 400 is no different than any other scooter. On the 650 the entire bike and engine need to be torn down.

I have owned a Piaggio x8 250 and a couple of burgman 400. I would recommend the Burgman 400 as it is better for short and tall people. Piaggios are not as well made my x8 engine was in the throws of dying after 25000 miles my burgmans have done over 50000 each.

Still not on board with the scooter. Especially at this price. Maybe if I rode one I would change my mind. I think for the money a Versys 650 or even a Honda CB500X would be a better value for your money. I will say that you guys do take a good picture.

Depends on what you mean by "value." Way too often riders confuse horsepower/torque/speed as value, where the only thing that matters is how fast you can go or how strong the engine is. This just isn't the value of a scooter. Can you go pick up some food in your motorcycle? There's basically no storage on most bikes, but generous storage is standard on a scooter, and usually enough to fit all your gear. How much maintenance do you need to do on your bike? Scooters frequently only need oil changes and tires, and those tires last a lot longer than sports bikes and never requires chain cleaning. Changing the belt is really easy and affordable. Does your bike come with a center stand? Can you attach a top box to it? Do you have to worry about gear shifting or can you just concentrate on the ride? Scooters value comes from how out-of-the-box useful and easy to care for they are, not requiring extra work to make them that perfect commuting tool and great second vehicle. The word "practical" is a dirty word in American powersports today, but it was why I started.

I thought all motorcycle classes taught riders to use the full lane and not to split lanes, as that practice is very dangerous. It's already bad that car drivers don't see, or flat out don't care about riders. Splitting lanes can easily result in disastrous consequences. Let's show the right way to ride responsibly, shall we... For the record, I would opt for the Suzuki based on the technology, ergonomics and style.
@robrenwick4591
@robrenwick4591 9 ай бұрын
Actually, you're wrong. The Hurd report noted that lane splitting is actually safer as you have much less chance of being rear ended (especially important in these days of rampant cell phone use by drivers). States other than California are now allowing lane splitting and filtering, but no-one forces you to do it. I commuted on California's freeways for many years and was only side-swiped two or three times (once or twice deliberately), but never came off the bike and no damage done to the bike. On balance, I think lane splitting is a good thing, but car drivers must be educated to accept it.
