As an artist I use both Sound Cloud and Disco. I love SC for sharing my music, storing my demos for private sharing and discovering other artists. I joined Disco because I'm trying to see if my songs have any place in TV/Film and someone in the industry told me Disco was the sharing tool to use. I've spent about a million hours uploading my songs and filling in all the metadata etc. on Disco, but I'm yet to see what it is Disco can do for me. I think I'm misunderstanding the purpose of Disco!?🤷🏻♀

Anyone who can distinguish between 'literally' and 'figuratively' mid-sentence is alright by me! :) Thank you for an excellent overview - I'm probably going to subscribe to the basic Reelcrafter option and see how it goes.

Nice video! BTW, you can allow any audio file in SoundCloud to be "Downloaded". Once permission is set correctly, clients can download audio on frontend under the player "More > Download File". For sharing lossless formats (like WAV) you would need to look elsewhere though (that is what you where refering to I believe). But a basic download feature is available.

Indeed! This is why I've been liking Disco for actual file distribution and deliverables.

@@52Cues But it always depends what the publishers are looking for right? If you get accepted and they send you their dropbox link to upload the music, having an option available to download WAV from Disco has no purpose i guess.. Disco also compresses audio for streaming or no?

Something to consider is also who you want to submit music to. I think, that music supervisors love to work with Disco. It is build by and for them. So if you have a Disco profile as an artist/music composer music supervisor can also svae your music in their playlists for later consideration. That is not possible with Reelcrafter or private Soundcloud links. So that is handy in the business of TV and Sync. If you aim to write custom original music for someone than I believe you mainly need to find a way to showcase your music but mainly your abilities in a very easy and compelling way (nice Reelcrafter page or embedded playlists from any of these services on your website). Because in this case it is about you and your potential and not about a specific track that you did. At least that's my take on this. (I use embedded Reelcrafter playlists on my website)

Very timely video, at least for me, and it definitely made me add Soundcloud to the list for reconsideration in the task of finding an online home for my tracks. Reelcrafter is also very appealing, simply because of its appearance and looking more professional. Not sure about Disco, there seems to be a lot in there that I probably wouldn't use. As always, thanks for all you do, and all the best to you from here :-)

Reel Crafter Audio -- Any audio uploaded to ReelCrafter gets stored in its original format, whether it's WAV, AIFF, MP3, or AAC (the general formats they support). An MP3 (256Kbps CBR) is created from the original and used in demo reels as well as demo reel downloads. Currently, it's not possible for clients to download originals. Reel Crafter Video -- Video is transcoded to MP4 with a maximum bit rate of 5Mbps. Video is downsampled to 1080p. Original video file is not stored.

Hey there! Just wanted to jump in and clarify that with ReelCrafter's Professional plan, clients are able to download original, full-quality files. Plus, you can customize the permission settings per share link-for streaming only, MP3 downloads, or original file downloads. Hope this info helps!
@DjorMil.CineMusic9 ай бұрын
Does this mean that audio is being streamed at 256Kbps, but there is a possibility to download MP3 or WAV with Professional plan? Not super clear to me.

I am trying to craft a better experience for Music Supervisors to rifle through my compositions quickly to find what they might use. Do you upload your non-vocal mixes as well as the original mix? (for vocal music, like Rock, Folk, etc.) Or, just have non-vocal mixes ready to send? Can a Music Supervisor search through my music using tags at Disco, rather than guessing at the meaning of titles?

I’ve considered reel crafter. I’ll probably end up with Disco soon.

Hey Dave, I'm wanting to send my new EP tracks out to likeminded labels but I don't want the public to hear my tracks. Should I set them to private on my Soundcloud page ? Cheers Wayne..
@52Cues2 жыл бұрын
Yep! Set the tracks and playlist to private and then use the “Share” option from the playlist to generate a private link.

Yeah, SC has their share of spammers and bots. I report and block and forget about them.
