Hi Chas, brilliant video, thanks so much for taking the time to film and post it. This is the second time I have descaled my Triton shower now. Up the gazoo made me laugh! The only thing I will add (which maybe you cover) is to remember to run the shower on cold for the first time after fixing. I ran mine on its normal hot setting and because there was no water in the boiler the thermal cutout tripped and I had to watch another video on how to reset that! Just in case anyone needs to know, drill a tiny hole about 1mm in the top of the the thermal cutout, poke a pin in to pop the disk back down. Cover the hole with insulation tape and it should work. It might be dangerous but it worked for me and has been ok for the last year. One well used shower diverted again from landfill : ) Thanks again

Hi danobable, thanks for comments, good idea drilling the top disk to reset the inner one, I didn't do anything like that coz I had to take it apart first to find out how it worked, could'nt find any explanation at that time! C+

I took mine apart and the bit between both disk was in peace’s the rod that is under that was bad so I took it out and put the two disc in and put multimeter on it and now have a reading is that ok or not

Hi, took your advice on a t80gsi.. mine didn't even need descaller, just plenty of water in , out, in out, in out etc had to shake the heater can like a madman to get it all out though! Smashed the heater can against the kitchen side numerous times (they're actually fairly strong so wouldnt worry), could hear all the limescale got two whole cup fulls out! Started running clear after a while felt a LOT lighter.. popped it back.. ran like a dream like a new shower, amazing!👍 Has not cut out once! Runs lovely. Obviously I understand your video was very thorough, my attempt was the amateur lol did work perfect though.. may be a few bits still inside etc but will suffice for a good for months/year I reckon lol

A very good description of how to carry out the repair.

First class instructional video. If only they were all like this. I am going to try this using brick cleaner but am not sure what dilution the hydrochloric acid is in the btick cleaner I have. As there are 5 people queuing for showers and I don't have time right now I will order a replacement shower for a quick fix ( this shower is only a year old - seriously chalky water here) and then clean the old one ready as a back up.

I get a new triton shower every 7 to 9 months. Same thing every time. I try to keep it as empty of limescale as possible by shaking the bits out the hose and head weekly. But without fail after a time it will just suddenly trip the breaker and thats it it's time for a new one.

Hi Chas Quick question I have replaced the TCO 3 times now in as many weeks. Flow is good and there’s been no fluctuations in temperature prior to the shower only having cold water. The TCOs have never reset and just stopped working. Did a continuity test before fitting and it read 0 then after failure read 1 on multimeter. Elements in heater read 11.3 ohms and 11.2 ohms. Beating in mind what I’ve tried to explain could the problem be a scaled up tank. Many thanks John

Hi John G, cant be specific with your particular boiler but sounds like the descale would do the business! Have a go, there is nothing to lose... the trade is not geared for this type of repair! But you do need basic diy skills to remove the boiler and put it back correctly ( no leaks and correct connections) after the descale covered in Part 2.. Good luck with it. Chas

@@ChasChas9 thanks Chaz .. I did it yesterday following your instructions. Tbh there wasn’t much to remove. Went back together fine and I’ve put another TCO on and shower is working again but for how long I don’t know. If the TCO fails again ( never resets just fails) is there anything else it could possibly be that is causing the TCO to fail before I fork out paying £400+ for a new shower. (Same model I have for ease of fitting) Cheers Chaz

@@johng7787 The TCO is operating for a safety reason ie . boiling water. So take the popped ones to bits and reset them so you have some spares! Again diy skills needed but you seem to be doing fine! C+

Thank you for this. I have exactly this Triton shower and exactly this problem. I opted for a replacement boiler (didn't give the temperature sensor any consideration - perhaps I should). Still a work in progress as water's coming out of the side inlet now; I don't recall there being a seal, gasket, tape or sealant of any sort there when I took the old one out; did you have anything on yours?
@ChasChas97 жыл бұрын
There is an O ring to seal that joint - it maybe in the hole and didnt come out when you took the boiler out...

What if I want to get rid of the water still in the heater tank.?. How to do that.? Thanks
@ChasChas96 жыл бұрын
The same way as shown in the Part 2 video - you would have to remove the boiler unit to do anything like that!

Are there is a water filter before heating element? Thete is no pump on this model?
@ChasChas97 жыл бұрын
No pump and no real filter, this is a mains pressure shower not what I would call a power shower!
@zalupkin857 жыл бұрын
Chas G thank you for your unser. What about triton models who feeding from tank. They are with pump. Its that what you call power shower? They can be fited to main water suply?

HiAll - I said in the video this particular shower was 15 years old... sorry I misread the date on the unit - its only about 4 years !!!
