On our first day home - we are figuring out how to assist our Boston terrier so she can get outside and “do her business” - also some views of the staples in her legs.

Where did you get the harness? My dog is supposed to have this surgery

The surgeon provided the sling. I would make sure they will provide one for you or where they recommend you purchase one. Good luck to your pup ❤️

What did your dog's gait look like when she was a puppy? I ask this just because my Boston has an usual gait which has been pointed out by others and I've noticed myself. He seems to almost be mildly bowlegged or to hop/gallop. Doesn't seem like he's in pain from it but I've just been curious about it. His orthopedic report card/exam from the vet during one of his earlier check ups reported no problems or irregularities.

She certainly was bowlegged as a puppy. We became aware of the Luxating Petella around age 2. That’s when she became uncomfortable from it. It got worse quick and that’s what led us to surgery.

Very informative video! Our BT is getting the same surgery tomorrow. She's 6yrs old and has Stage 3 in left leg and Stage 2 in the right. How is yours doing now? How did you assist with her bathroom breaks?

Thanks for the kinds words and happy these videos could offer some idea of what to expect. My BT is doing well. We have had to do some physio therapy to strengthen the muscle - water therapy. Working well to strengthen the muscle (loss of muscle big time during the recovery process). Use the sling for bathroom breaks. You will get the hang of it and it’s easy to use, I promise. Good luck to your pup ❤️

Was she able to wee and poo? My puppy will need an op on both legs and I’m not sure how she will be able to pee and poop
@trendstepperkyle18183 жыл бұрын
She will be able to yes. She may not poop for a couple days after all the meds. But she will be able to both pee and poop. You just kind of lower the sling to allow them to squat. You keep some tension so she won’t she’s not putting a lot of weight on the legs - just slightly. I promise you will get the feel for it. Your pup will be ok. Best of luck 🐾
