Al Stewart, year of the cat, and time passages have some of the best saxophone you'll ever hear plus great musical arrangement and production and such well crafted lyrics, some of the best ever.

It's almost an impossible task to pick a favourite song from a legend of music but this is one of them.

Ohh...I fell in love with this song the first time I heard it on the radio, and I'm guessing I was right around your age, Lilly. Elton John always seem to be able to bring out strong emotion from most of his songs. He's a brilliant artist❣️

Saw ya Miss Lilly getting a bit jiggy singing "I'm Still Standing " Elton Johns song... Getting jiggy with the tunes is a great way to feel the song in your heart, your soul. Jiggy (dancing) to the beauty of the lyrics..and the musicians... I think it's a great way to listen and feel & learn from the performance. Great job Miss Lilly 🌼 🌸 Your American Fav Fan Louisiana Gearl ( girl-- southern twang gearl) See Ya soon Miss Lilly Great job 👍

Beautiful song....Smooth and clear. Elton always delivers no matter what Bernie Taupin writes. I assume Bernie wrote this. Always liked Eltons early tunes the best. I was around when all of his songs were released and most were hits. Cheers.

Spot the edit right near the end, it was for the best. 😄

It was a collab with Bernie Taupin who was only 17 when he wrote the lyrics. I guess that explains why the song has such an innocent vibe... that kind of love we have when we're youngsters. Three Dog Night recorded it but stepped back and let Elton release the single instead (good call). kzbin.info/www/bejne/n5TQaZSKpLaoqNE

I just watched that, it wasn't bad at all, but obviously the Elton John version is the one everybody knows. I see a lot of people saying they are big fans of Three Dog Night, and while I know the name, I couldn't name one of their songs off the top of my head. I will know something by them though.

I've just typed their name into You Tube, I definitely know Mama told me not to come, and I think I know The show must go on, but I know it by Leo Sayer.

Your Song is a truly beautiful song. I, too, like his older songs better. I also like songs like Tiny Dancer. One great thing about Elton, especially back then, was he could do a wide variety of music...beautiful songs like this and Tiny Dancer and Goodbye Norma Jean...but also rockers like Crocadile Rock and Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting...and then something totally different like Bennie and The Jets, Funeral for a Friend/Love Lie Bleeding and Madman Across the Water. He could just do about any kind of song.

Lilly, this song is a gem. A great catalogue to explore. Amused with your mannerisms. Both of you enjoy your day. ...........................................................................................................................................list " Burning bridges" by Mike Curb Congregation

This is a great song, and takes me back to my youth. Your right about this being his greatest song, some of the best lyrics. Thank you so very much for posting!!!! Lilly, you have the greatest granddad in the world.

I like his older stuff way better. He went pop rock for the most part. His early works were more "Soulful". But Pops, in an earlier song you played, I recommended you introduce Lily to some Beatles songs. I picked the slower ones I think one was Dear Prudence, and Blackbird, and another one I forget, maybe Yesterday. Anyway, always enjoyable. :)

I've shown her two songs by the Beatles, both instantly blocked worldwide.

I guess the youtube police can only stop so many, while others get through. I'm guessing she really liked the 2 songs you played for her, and sorry I couldn't see her reactions. Keep trying!

I know he began his career in 1968, but I could be wrong, he has had a great career

Nice reaction Lily. One thing to know about Elton John is he mostly wrote the melodies of his songs whilst his mate, Bernie Taupin wrote the lyrics. So, maybe it is better to wonder who Bernie Taupin wrote it for...
